Dr. Persons misdiagnosed my bearded dragon in a dire situation. If I did not get a second opinion, my bearded dragon would have died due to improper treatment/diagnosis. I brought Rheagon in to Affordable Care and explained she is a girl with a swollen LEFT front leg. After taking her back for X-rays I was told that she is a boy and that it wasn't 'his' left leg but 'his' right leg that was giving 'him' issues. Dr. Persons told me that the injury in the leg was from MBD and to just give pain meds for a week and keep supplements normal. After an unusual reaction to the first pain med, they took some blood for a CBC. After receiving the results, Dr. Persons informed me that Rheagon was in renal failure and had gout and to give allopurinol daily for the rest of 'his' life/until the quality of life declined to where 'he' would need to be euthanized. She was overall extremely dismissive and not willing to take time to explain in detail things like the calcium/phosphorus ratio or how long she even thought 'he' had left. Knowing that my dragon is a girl, and that it was the left leg that she was having issues with, I made a second opinion appointment at MedVet. As soon as they were able to look over the X-ray and Bloodwork for themselves, they told me that Rheagon is in fact a female and in follicular stasis (very evident on the X-ray) and the hand in question was the left but it was a boney lesion or tumor and would need amputated ASAP to prevent loss of life. They informed Affordable Care about their misdiagnosis and the updated diagnosis (the need for two surgeries to prevent decline in health leading to death). It has been two weeks since then, a week post op for Rheagon and Affordable Care (who MedVet lists as her primary) has still yet to reach out and ask how she is or apologize for the mishap/misdiagnosis. If it were a child/human, it would be bordering medical malpractice.

Don’t look any further! This is where you want to bring your furry family members. We were treated like family from the moment we walked in the door. From the front desk to Dr. Carly to Beth they were kind, compassionate, and professional. Not to mention the top quality healthcare they provided for cheeseburger the hamster. Beth took the time to show and explain Cheeseburgers aftercare to my 11 year old grandson. She is now on her way to a healthy recovery. Thank you Affordable Care Vet Clinic.

Very affordable pricing compared to most veterinary services! Appreciate that they keep the charges as low as possible, since a pet’s illness is already a stressful time for the owner. The vets are all top notch and the staff is helpful, friendly and explained the charges before any procedures were done. My poor cat Buddy was in bad shape and in pain but not all vets are taking on new patients and others have a long wait time for appts. Fortunately I found them highly recommended on the Nextdoor website and called hoping they would see him and as soon as possible. They gladly accepted my cat as their patient and worked with my schedule to get him in and examined.
Their facility is cheerful, clean, cozy and bright with plenty of seating for multiple pets and owners. My cat ended up needing surgery for a very bad tooth/jaw infection and that was scheduled soon afterwards, sending him home with antibiotics and pain meds in the interim. They did a wonderful job, with the Dr. taking the time to call post-surgery to explain the findings, prognosis and answered all my questions, despite how busy the practice is. Greatly appreciated that as well!
Now that I’ve found this hidden gem in Finleyville PA, I have the comfort knowing where to bring my other 2 cats/2 dogs if ill or injured without working an extra job just to pay off the vet bills. If your looking for caring, knowledgeable and affordable vet care, I highly recommend this one for your beloved pets???! Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for sure!

Don't fall prey to a discount on "summer travel vaccines" with Afforabke Care in Finnleyville like I did. Received email from them inviting me to this discounted rate and asked me to schedule online to receive discount which I did. Had tech appt set up for this eve and they said (at checkout), "Sorry but, we already gave out 150 of those discounts out to people already." Could have had done elsewhere for less. Doesn't allow me to paste a copy of the email I received from them here otherwise, would have attached. This is "false" advertising!

Front desk staff is nice and the prices are comparable. We ultimately switched back to our previous vet after continuously getting the same tech (not veterinarian - we never had the same twice). She was extremely rude and dismissive. On one visit, after coming out and fussing over several larger dogs in the waiting room, she picked up the clipboard, gave a deep sigh and called us back as "(dog #1 name) and the other one". I told her "I know you're not talking about my dog because her name is (dog #2 name) and not the other one". The front desk people understandably recognized her behavior as rude and apologized for her and said "don't mind her, she's crazy". When I brought up a skin growth issue that was concerning, the tech laughed and said "it's because she's old". My dog was 6. This tech smelled so bad of cigarettes that it gave me and my husband headaches during each visit after being in close quarters with her. All I could think of was (and hopefully it is not for years) down the road when it comes time to say goodbye to my dogs, and this horrible woman who laughs at them and can't even call them by their names handling it - I had to switch.

Dr Persons was very attentive, thorough, and caring with my elderly dog. She explained all of his issues and her recommendations for treatment. She was upfront about the medications and their costs and offered 3 options so I could choose how much to spend. In this challenging economy that kind of thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.

Affordable is in the name for a reason. We’ve had several pets over the last 20 years, and so we’ve been to several different vets and even with everything else going up this place continues to be affordable.

Accidents and mistakes happen everyday, but lying and trying to cover up said mistake when an animal’s life is at stake? That’s inexcusable. They cost me over 10k in emergency vet bills and hid from me their mistake. When I got my pet’s medical records it was clear they had X-rays proving they knew what had happened and hid it from me. They almost cost me my pet’s life and when confronted they made excuses and blamed each other. They absolutely can’t be trusted and shouldn’t be allowed to practice medicine with their lack of ethics.
