This specific Salvation Army is where I’ve thrifted most of my life. It’s always been hit or miss, as thrifting is expected to be, but the difference is it used to be affordable. Every time I’ve visited in the past year or so, I can’t seem to find anything under $10. Lots of $10-$20 items, which is steep for clothing/accessories intended for lower income people. I understand pricing things according to brand, but the inflation seems a bit ridiculous considering these are all donations and not bought off customers like Plato’s Closet does. It almost makes more sense to just go to discount clothing stores such as Ross, and pay $10-$20 for an item that’s brand new. I still continue to stop in just to see and every so often I get lucky but I’ve found other spots more suited to my needs that I visit before going here now. I really hope it turns around because I’ve always really liked this location.

The man attending the drop off was extremely rude to myself and my 70 year old mother. After waiting for him in our car for 5 minutes (while he was sitting in a chair chatting with another employee about current events), I got out, retrieved the donations from our trunk and said, "Good morning guys, sorry to dump this on you but we are fighting the clock here, if you don't mind i will just set this bag here." I started to thank him and say have a blessed day, when the attendant began his cursing and raving and belittling.
The attendant cursed at me and waved a towel at us, yelling loudly "get back in your car and take your %ĵ#* with you (called me some names) and then said that they (The Salvation Army) doesn't want our $#ĵ% if we can't read a simple sign.
I was shocked and could feel myself getting angry and was afraid i would stoop to that level, so i quietly told him to have a nice day and then i just left to get back in my car. But he actually followed me and tried to force me to take my donation back.
We just left quickly.
Obviously there is some rage issue there.
It made us feel gross inside. Here we are, taking time to donate to others, and we were treated like garbage. This incident was 100% unprovoked and was beyond rational.
I WILL NEVER GO TO THE SALVATION ARMY AGAIN and I'm likely to tell others to avoid that place bc there are other non profits out there with a heart for the community that we can partner with.

Employee’s ride will yell at you from their car if you don’t know their drop off time. If you don’t know and live an hour away in the country like me; it’s 9 O’CLOCK. SHARP! He counted 9 on his fingers to show me, don’t worry! Even though he looked like he was about to go through what people already dropped off! What a great glimpse of Erie, Pa! My bad for passing through

Some items were filthy. I know people donate, but some of the things should at least be wiped down. Some children's play sets were set there looking like they came from the back yard no one ever goes in. Dirt caked all over it. I should have taken a picture. But I will say the checkout staff was friendly. It's not all bad. There's a large selection from clothing to furniture to dishes, purses, shoes....etc.
