This is going to be a long rant. I took my cat to Glenwood Pet Hospital in Erie pa . Knowing that she needed eye surgery because the eye itself had ruptured on Easter Sunday. Now I had been trying to get into my vets office for a week and a half prior to the I actually rupturing but they said they didn't have an available appointment to be seen until 5 days after her eye had ruptured. Even though I called in Daily asking if any spots had opened because the eye was getting worse. Finally the Monday after Easter I called telling them how bad it was they finally got me in there Monday afternoon and decided to do surgery on her on tuesday. I bring her home on Wednesday she seems to be doing fine she has dissolvable stitches everything looks good. 4 weeks later she still has the stitches and they are now irritating her. I stop into the office tell them ask to get an appointment set up to get the stitches removed and they come back with they're dissolvable they'll dissolve on their own. May 13th or 15th I'd have to check my phone call log I called again because the stitches still have not dissolved and they're really irritating her get told the same thing they'll dissolve on their own. After 9 weeks of these stitches being in her eye her eye is now swelled up extremely irritated so they finally get me in. They removed the two stitches and Dr Pierce proceeds to stick a needle in her eye to see if he could get any fluid out he said he did not get any fluid and that he would call me later. Now I was not told about him sticking a needle in there until after I got the phone call. I get the phone call and right away it's cancer you need to put her down it's a fast growing cancer etc etc. Now to take you back for a minute the very first time that he's seen her on Monday after Easter the very first thing that came out of his mouth was she's 15 years old do you really want to put that kind of money in her I would recommend euthanization this was after he had only examined her for less than 2 seconds. So this past Monday I take her back in there because her eyes getting worse and he proceeds to basically tell me that I'm no longer welcome at Glenwood Pet Hospital he is 89.9% sure that it is cancer. I asked him to prove it to me and he said he didn't have to and the only way that you could prove it was to do a biopsy which he refused and told me that I was no longer welcome as a client that I needed to find a new vet. Which I took her to a new vet today and they're telling me that they can't even say whether or not it's cancer. That they did get some fluid out but not enough. And they recommended me to go to a specialist because as far as he's concerned without the proper test you cannot diagnose her as cancer. That cats do get non-cancerous tumors especially when they've had that much damage done to the eye. Me personally I think the doctor Pierce was in the wrong I think his staff was in the wrong they did not take consideration the treatment that they were given to Winky. Even though when you walk into their building, they say that all animals are their top priority and that is not the case here. I do have an appointment to see the specialist up in New York it's a while out, but I am hoping that they can get me in with a cancellation or something but in the meantime, she will continue being treated and taken care of to the best of my abilities and the best of her new vets' ability thanks for listening to my rant.

Mistakes, mistakes, and more mistakes.....My dog luckily survived Glenwood's & Dr Scott's gross incompetence. I'm actually going to report them to the state veterinary board and urge anyone else with a similar experience to do the same. My dog's liver values are down now (read previous update) but upon doing follow up labs new doctor said his thyroid was way over medicated as well. They reduced his dose significantly.WHAT THE ACTUAL **** ?!?! Couldn't even do basic **** like thyroid meds? FFS. So, to recap, after going there for decades, they SAT ON LABS showing liver values almost 7,000 above normal, and suspected Cushings and left him untested and unmedicated for 8 months even though the average lifespan after diagnosis is 2 years. They sat on these labs and didn't tell us. They overdosed him on epilepsy meds/phenobarbital even though he had mild focal seizures and there's a medication called Kepra that has almost no side effects then mismanaged the pheno nearly to the point of organ failure. Then when preforming the cushions test they did the test not knowing his phenobarbital metabolized the drug used in the test. So we paid over $400 for a test that was inconclusive and wasted EVEN MORE TIME. Then the manager wrote me several emails refusing to refund the test. Even though the doctor literally left me a very clear voicemail identifying herself and stating the test was done wrong. I mean I had a voluntary message saying "sorry we messed up" but then refused to refund bc they could just repeat it for free! YOU LITERALLY ALMOST KILLED MY DOG - WHY WOULD I LET YOU DO IT AGAIN??! - I actually had to file a dispute with my credit card company to get the refund. Since spring is here I asked new vet to get dog back on flea and tick meds he was previously on (nextguard) as we are avid hikers/campers. They said absolutely not. The meds Glenwood were prescribing actually say on the box DO NOT GIVE TO DOGS WITH EPILEPSY!! The Glenwood RX sticker always took up half the box so I couldn't see that it was there. If there is a specific risk for epilepsy dogs WE SHOULD GET TO DECIDE THAT - not the vet! We were never told that this was a concern. My dog has had all his Lyme imms and the booster. So it's not like he's not protected. This extra risk was MINE TO TAKE - NOT THIERS! IN SUMMARY: Mismanaged his thyroid Mismanaged his epilepsy Gave him meds not to be given to epileptic dogs Sat on lab results of liver values 7k above normal Sat on Cushings diagnosis Screwed up Cushings test - admitted it on voicemail Refused to refund $400+ messed up test Did not give any rescue drugs to help liver values ---------------------- During this time when we were getting dog diagnosed I took my cat for her regular checkup. She's a small cat, I think she may even be unusually small. Full grown 5-6lb. Some tech(?) put her on a scale that clearly read the 5-6lb. Guy wrong down like 15-16lb. I waited for him to correct thinking he misspoke. Then they proceeded to start vaccinating her. I was like woah woah woah... hey, you said 15/16 she is NOT that heavy. He looked at his clipboard and then actually looked at the cat and made a face. She is clearly not a chonker. Like, not even a little. He put her back on the scale and noted her real weight. The cat is not social but she's scared enough to be compliant when at the vet. She wasn't fighting to get on/off the scale or anything. He re-weighed her and made a face and wrote down a new weight. ----but I mean they would have medicated her or vaccinated based on that weight? I mean, seems like a small thing but such terrible practice. ------------- Not to mention I've unsubscribed from their emails twice now and they still have the balls to send me emails about how to save money on refills/ etc. No part of this company seems to be under anyone's control.

Everyone was courteous, efficient, and friendly. Dr. Gorning is very knowledgeable and displays care and concern for her patients. You will be kept informed as to your pet's condition. I recommend Glenwood Pet Hospital!

I had not planned to post, but I just read a previous review from another pet owner whose experience at Glenwood Pet hospital was unacceptable. There is no rating low enough to measure the incompetence of a vet whose prognosis was to euthanize my dog and as she said it...to be done NOW. I had taken Cora due to health concerns and her erratic behavior. She was admitted to the emergency unit. The doctor read her X-rays to say my dog had a tumor and a battery of additional details. Her communication focused on the severity of my dog's condition and that surgery was not conducive to her age of 9 years. Also, her condition could deteriorate rapidly to a painful death. We brought her home and the next morning went to our vet,. Upon seeing her, Dr. our vet noticed she walked in on her own and was very alert. She proceeded with X-rays and barium X-rays to check any blockage. Her evaluation was that Cora, our dog, had ingested bacteria. This was the problem which created her symptoms. She had inflammation and gas. We picked her up on the following day. She was active, happy and ready to go home. The doc prescribed an antibiotic, a diarrhea and nausea med. A gentle diet with low activity for a few days. THERE WAS NO TUMOR, as noted by the vet at Glenwood. In fact, all the details from this vet were WRONG! Euthanizing, as she encouraged, was gross negligence! What if I had said yes? My Cora would be DEAD!!! I speak out in hopes that this incompetency does not take the life of someone else's beloved pet. We will not return to Glenwood Pet Hospital. And expect monetary compensation for this

I had originally brought my dog to this vet out of convenience - I adopted from the Erie Humane Society and they let me know that they had used this vet, so I opted to stay with them. That was the best decision I could have made. Throughout the years I've had my dog, they've been extremely helpful and explained everything so clearly to me - from him getting bit by another dog while we were on vacation and had to get emergency surgery done else where, to me calling and asking different questions concerned something was wrong land wondering if I should bring him in r how I could treat at home, to giving me actionable steps I could take to help care for my dog while I am moving to another city and finding another vet and concerned while looking into some some health issues he has been having. I am so sad to be losing them as my primary vet for my dog, they have been the absolute best! You can tell that the staff really do care for the animals and love what they do, I've never once had a bad experience here. HIGHLY recommend!

We had to put our beloved border collie down. Glenwood staff made room for us the very day we called. Although we saw this coming it was still a shock- they were very compassionate and caring.

I brought my 2 cats in today as new patients to establish a new vet for them. This was just a yearly check-up and shots, and overall I had a fantastic experience (especially compared to my previous vet, who I won't name). Here are some highlights: * They were able to schedule both cats at the same time. * They were able to get me in within a week of my appointment request call. * I was out of the waiting room and into an exam room in less than 5 minutes of walking through the door (and I was early!). * I was in and out of the office in less than an hour (even less than 45 mins). * The receptionists, vet tech, and doctor were all so friendly and helpful. * The office was clean and spacious - with room to be away from other animals if your animal is fussy. * The visit & shots were very reasonably priced - especially for the quick, friendly service. Overall - I can't wait for Glenwood Pet Hospital to be my cat's new veterinarian for years to come. Thank you!

Great experience! My sister's cat had caused damage to her skin in the form of bleeding wounds from excessive itching and over grooming. While it was not an immediate emergency, the wounds definitely needed addressed soon. I called around several places that were booked out weeks to months. Then I remembered Glenwood from previous family pets and gave them a call. They thankfully had an opening and were able to get her cat in the same day. I am very grateful to the receptionist who took my call and to the doctor who was able to fit us in that day. We met with Dr. Runser who was kind, professional, and got her cat feeling better within just a couple days. The service prices were reasonable and I definitely felt that the price reflected the level of care received. Thanks for taking care of us!

I've always taken my animals to the ANNA Shelter, but recently my dog was sick and I needed a vet quickly. I called around 10 different vets in the area and they were the only ones who could see my little guy. They had him feeling better before we even left the office! They were extremely kind and took such good care of my nerves and my dog. 4 stars because I did have to pay an outrageous fee because I wasn't a normal client, but I'll definitely be back.

Go to Buffalo for birds, to avian vet. Called about my bird. Was told to come in and when got there they wouldn't let me in with my bird. Never told this on the phone. Got bad feeling from this place. Didn't feel comfortable letting my bird go in alone with them. They should know birds are scared of people. They just care about money. They screen google reviews. Seeing a review like this could have saved my birds life. I wasn't able to get to Buffalo in time after this place wasted a day. They screen and delete google reviews. Seeing a review like this could have saved my birds life as I would have chosen to go elsewhere. Super deceitful and sketchy. I wouldn't trust them with animals.

Called here for my parrot to be seen. Was told to come in at 7 pm, as that's when the only exotic vet they have will be in. Confirmed multiple times to come in at 7. When I arrived they would not let me in with my bird. I was never told that over the phone the multiple times I called. They told me they were perfectly capable of handling my bird. If they knew anything about birds, or cared, they would know some birds need their person and are terrifed of other people. I was afraid of my sick, elderly, parrot crashing into stuff, having a heart attack, because she was alone with strangers picking her up and already sick, so I left. I got a bad feeling from the place anyways. I felt like they're the kind of place that just wants to put the old, exotic, animals to sleep because they make enough anyways. No compassion for the actual animals. Oh it is also an emergency place. I was lied to on the phone and told it was only $140. Well that's just to walk through the door. They should be upfront on the phone so people can make arrangements to go elsewhere if their pet is special needs and needs their person to go in. Avoid this scam and take your birds to a real avian vet in Buffalo. My parrot passed away because I tried here instead of Buffalo and didn't have enough time. No compassion for birds here. Btw Glenwood is screening reviews on google!! They would probably be 1 star if allowed customers to actually give reviews.

We had to call to put our beloved Captain Hammy down. The first receptionist who scheduled the appointment was very kind and considerate. They were extremely empathetic and aware that this decision was heartbreaking. 10/10 for the first receptionist. We called in the morning to cancel the appointment, as Ham didn't live through the night. The receptionist we got was very rude, inconsiderate, and insensitive. This behavior led us to tears as we had just lost our pet. 0/10 for the second receptionist.

Glenwood has cared for our pets for their entire lives. The doctors and staff are caring, and have been there for us when we needed them.
