I can't say enough good things about Earl's Garage. We were about 350 miles from home last week, on the second day of a trip driving back to Ohio from Massachusetts. We were on I-80 during a bad storm when I thought I heard a rumble from one of our tires. I didn't have any indicator light up warning of low air, but we stopped at a rest stop anyway to look. Nope, all the tires seemed fine. We went to the next exit, and (after a few frustrating missteps), AAA suggested we try Earl's Garage. We called them, about a mile away, and drove over and waited about 15 minutes as they finished up working on another car. When they heard the noise, at first they suggested it might be the crankshaft. But when one of them drove it into the garage, the other saw the front left wheel wobble. ... The lug nuts had come loose. They tightened them up, checked the other tires, and $20 later we were on our way. We couldn't thank them enough.

Several years ago, I was driving through Pennsylvania, trying to get from Cleveland to Brooklyn in a blizzard in the dead of winter. My car stopped responding to the gas pedal on the highway, and I wasn't able to go over 15mph. I got off the next exit and made my way to Earl's via directions from a gas station attendant. Earl was about to close right when I showed up (just before 5pm). Well, he didn't. He stayed, he made one of his guys stay, and he quickly diagnosed the problem (dead solenoid, I believe). Unfortunately he didn't have the part; but the next part is truly unbelievable. He called the nearest Autozone, convinced them to stay open past 5 (when they were scheduled to close), and sent one of his guys in a 4x4 truck to pick up the part some 20-30 min away (in the storm). This guy comes back and Earl gets the car up and running in another half hour. We leave and make it home safely to NYC that night. What's more, he charged me the Autozone price for the part and otherwise just labor at a low rate. What's more, when I tried to tip him (the hundreds more dollars I thought he deseved), he actually refused it! When I insisted, he would only accept $20 to later give to the driver who picked up the part for gas. Earl is truly a modern gentleman. He quite literally saved the day, and I have never forgotten it, often wishing there was some way to pay him back for what he did.

Like always, Earl got my car in for an appt fast, the problem solved quickly, and kept me up to date.
