“Local and over the top in being able to help you. I had to find a sling door lock. No one had one… That had a book to order from and the knowledge to save a $500 door fix to a $30 fix. Give them a try and you will keep coming back. I have been shopping with them for 30 years and I remember the old shop..”

“We love Elverson Supply. We've been loyal customers since we moved into the area. They staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and can get you anything you're looking for. It's nice supporting a local business instead of a big chain hardware store.”

“This store just moved to a new location. It's fully stocked with everything you will need, no reason to drive to HomeDepot. The owners are so helpful, you'd think they were running a non-profit organization.”

“Dave took his time to fix my watch by helping me select my watch battery by letting me exchange the one I bought before. 5/5 service! Great job keep doing what you’re doing!”

“I’ve been buying my materials here for 25 years these guys are always fast efficient and friendly and if I’m in Westchester is the only place I’m going to go for my supplies”

“Just went in and looked around. Much more pleasant than walking around the big home improvement stores. Staff was friendly and helpful. They have a good selection of tool, plumbing, gardening, paint, and electrical supplies at reasonable prices, which are marked well. They also perform services like making keys and screen replacements. Definitely worth a try.”

“This is an extraordinary place! Their hardware is well-made and looks great, and service is even better. The previous owner of our house had taken the bolt out of the rim lock on the front door, and two locksmiths passed on fixing it. When we took the lock off the door and went to Ball and Ball (on the advice of a restoration specialist), it turned out they knew exactly how to fix it which they did very promptly. Every aspect of our interaction with them was pleasant and their interventions effective with reasonable pricing.”

“They usually have what I need when I need it but the variety and price obviously lacks those of big box stores. I used to manage an Ace Hardware while in College so I have a special place in my heart for smaller Hardware stores and other local businesses. I come here when I need a few things but larger purchases typically go to the box stores. I did however purchase my all stainless steel Weber Grill that was close to 1,000 on a weber event day they had a few years ago. They had the best price and I wanted only stainless steel inside parts where the box stores only had cast iron.”

“I’m a customer from Canada and was ready to buy a lot of tree bolts for my treehouse project. After taking advantage of the free virtual meeting / consultation, the staff advised me that my trees were too small and I needed to modify my plan so that my treehouse would be safe. This resulted in a substantial order being cancelled so I am very grateful to the staff for their honesty. I will likely be shopping here again for accessories once my project gets to that stage. I also recommend the book “Backyard Treehouses” by the same owner (I think!) Honest, reliable and knowledgeable company!!”

“I frequently shop here. Just had to replace a tool. Was quick, and they made sure that I was satisfied with the product. Great place to get all your mechanical tool needs.”

“Tried out the dry canvas waterproof rub-on bar and it works great. Application was easy and relatively quick, although I had to use a bit more wax than I initially expected. I used up about 10% of the bar on a hat and will definitely be doing my work jacket as well.”

“This place is great! I work at a small Golf course around the corner and we are always in need of weird breakers, bulbs, electrical components associated with irrigation repair and Billows has it all. Best part is, Counter guy Chuck will always look up if the LED bulb you're buying is eligible for a rebate, so you can save yourself or the customer some money. Another thing; try to know what you want/need when you walk in the door, these guys are super busy and don't have alot of time to walk you around the store and hold your hand. If you're nice to them they are nice to you!Brandon”

“I shopped here for a DIY project. This is on Lancaster Ave on the malvern/Frazer side. The parking is dedicated for this store. The staff is very friendly and assisted me in getting some materials that are needed for the project. They have a wide range of items of wood and the selection is robust and mrt my needs. Overall, it was a quick visit, but I got what I needed.”

“My husband and I walked in at 8:52pm on a Friday night looking for a Dehumidifier. I was approached by Sam, who was not wearing his uniform and obviously off the clock. He took me where the dehumidifiers were and assisted me in selecting the one we needed and placing it inside my shopping cart.Sam is a true example of EXCELLENT customer service! Thank you Sam”

“After making a few calls, Johnstone had the part I needed, sold it to me as a regular homeowner, not a contractor, and my furnace was back up and running quickly! Had initially called a different store in the chain that didn't have the part, but they gave me the address for the Downingtown location and put in an order to have the part set aside for me.”

“Has been my go to hardware store since moving into the area. Well organized and stocked, staff has always been polite and helpful thus far. We’ve even ordered an appliance through this store with no issues.”

“I had a terrible experience at the Lowe's near by and made a bee-line here. I am an art teacher and once a year I go to Lowe's (well, not anymore) to have some wooden planks cut down to use for sculpture bases. Yesterday I tried the Lowe's in Pottstown, but their wood cutting was out of order. Today I went to Lowe's in Downingtown. I selected my planks and asked for assistance. The two people in the department were busy and asked me to wait until they were free. No problem. I waited 15 minutes for them to be free. When the employee met me at the cutter, he asked what I needed done. I had 4 10' planks that I needed cut into 12" pieces. It would take about 5 minutes to do. He told me he didn't have time to do it. He said if he did have time, he would have to charge me for the cutting (I already knew that because there was a sign saying so) I said I didn't mind paying for the cutting, but he refused to do it because he "didn't have enough time." There is a Home Depot just down the road. I went straight there. They were friendly and accommodating. They cut down the wood and it took 5 minutes. They did not charge me for the cutting and helped me load up my cart. It was a world of difference and the reason I will no longer shop at Lowe's. Thank you, Home Depot.”

“We like this Lowe's a lot. It seems to be well stocked, most of the time and has a good curbside pickup. They seem to be understaffed and don't like it when we need assistance in getting things down or loading lumber.”
