I have had the pleasure of taking long-term glassblowing lessons from Justin since August of 2022. We work together about 4 months out of the year for 4 hours a day, 5 days a week.
He has taught me everything I know about glassblowing, from safety procedures to techniques to the chemistry of glass.
Justin really inspires me to improve as an artist and share my talents with the world. He is always so supportive and encouraging of my work.
From all the time I have spent taking lessons from Justin, I have learned not just how talented and skilled he is as an artist, but I have also gotten to know him as a person. He is truly a great teacher and an intelligent, creative, and hard-working person.
I highly recommend taking classes with him!

Glassblowing class for two was such a great experience. Learned a ton and got the opportunity to make a variety of different objects while getting real hands-on experience. Definitely recommend it!

Intro Glass Blowing Class-My spouse gifted me a lesson for my birthday. I had an amazing time with my instructors, Chris and Justin. The lesson was three hours of hands-on learning and so much fun. My husband said it was really easy to coordinate with Justin on scheduling. I produced several beautiful ornaments (icicles, tear drop pendants, and flower paper weight) and everything will be ready for me to bring home the next day after a cycle in the kiln. (Pictures of final products to come later as I wanted to review this cool experience asap).Gentle reminder to treat this art form with safety- Justin and Chris did a great job of teaching flame and sharps handling. Always wear non-flammable clothing- preferably cotton. I would recommend if you're doing a class in the colder months wear a long sleeve shirt and another layer like a hoodie for comfort.Thank you again Justin and Chris! See you again soon ☺️

Justin was wonderful to work with. We had a very specialized glass that we wanted reproduced for family and friends. We are thrilled with the results! I would recommend for any custom project that you need glass or woodworking.

Justin helped design and install a cable rail system for my basement steps. They turned out better than I could expect with an unusual angle of steep steps. The metal fabrication was professional and fit seamlessly. The wood railing was amazing and fit perfectly with the industrial look of the basement. I would recommend for any metal/wood custom or standard jobs!

Was originally looking for an art gallery in Chester County to take my in-laws and after stumbling across Ivystone Studio I saw that they also do custom woodworking. My husband and I had them create us a farmhouse dining table and it is absolutely stunning! Highly recommend!

We had the opportunity to have Justin Smith, proprietor, resident glassblower, and wood worker of Ivystone Studio create a coffee table for us. Justin was wonderful throughout the process from patiently showing us our wood options, explaining the process, and finally helping us select the perfect piece of natural wood for the top of the coffee table. He was right on with his timeframe and kept us updated as he progressed creating the table, he even finished 2 pieces and let us select our favorite. The hand-crafted results are spectacular. Justin is an amazing artist and is great to work with. I would recommend Justin and Ivystone to anyone and when I’m looking for my next special piece, I will go to Justin first. He produced an exceptional work of art that doubles as our coffee table. Could not be happier!

Justin did a great job creating a cedar beam and posts for the front of the house. He meticulously matched the wood grain to create a large beam for us. Nothing but quality wood and craftsmanship. I’m looking forward to working with him on some more projects i have planned in the future.

I had a custom made bed ordered from the studio. The whole process was such a wonderful experience from meeting the artist to go over the process, discussing the design and wood selection, to final delivery. The bed was just gorgeous, far exceeded my expectations!

Beautiful piece of black walnut bought from Justin at Ivystone- turned into a one of a kind table. A pretty big under taking- but Justin and his team helped me with epoxy, milling and staining. Great products. Great piece. To be continued... and if you haven't checked out the work in the gallery...you're missing out.

We did a private glassblowing session with Justin. It was neat to learn the differences between hard and soft glass - and get to make some of our own pieces to take home. I would caution anyone doing it in the summer as his room where he does the glassblowing is compact and without Air Conditioning. Drink lots of water or schedule for a cooler day/night. He is great in that he'll let you bring food/wine and whatever you want to enjoy while you are learning about the art of glassblowing. We had a nice time. Thanks justin!
