This store is such a nice change from the hectic impersonal atmosphere of those other warehouse style hardware stores.
After my recent experience at this Ace store I've declared it my default go-to hardware store.
No they don't have appliances or lumber or a garden center but they everything else including hard to find stuff the other stores might not have, as well as friendly informative employees.

Rented a carpet cleaner, brought it home and scraped actual gunk out of the bottom just so I could use it. Probably gave that thing the best cleaning it’s had in a LONG time. Went to return said carpet cleaner and of course they charged me for it not being clean enough. They wouldn’t even listen to reason and just sent me on my way. Last time I’ll be back here.

It's always nice to chat with the employees at this store. They really do want to do their best to help you find what you are looking for. I was only in the store to buy 1 item and 3 people asked if they could help me. This is typical of this store.

I went to Ace Hardware Columbia to purchase salt for my water softener because they had a coupon for 50% off one purchase item. I purchased 4 bags of salt and I got a .40 cent discount for my 50% off coupon not $4.30 off, .40 off. Because I had purchased other items I did not notice the discount was wrong. When I called the store to inquire the woman that answered a phone was very rude and snappy and hung up on me. I will NEVER go to Ace rip offs again!! Buyer beware!

I wish I could have left a rating less than one star. They had an ad for 50% off on Black Friday I went there and purchased some salt for my water softener expecting to get 50% off one of the bags of salt instead I got 40 cents off the $8.59 bag of salt not 50 percent , not even close. When I called to inquire about it the lady took offense and hung up on me. Do not go to Ace and expect exceptional customer service you will be surely disappointed.
