Needed a quality recliner on a budget. Was going to purchase from Amazon but my son talked me into going over to VCF during their Labor Day sale. I have multiple mobility/pain issues so I prefer to stay in. But I'm so glad he got me over there. Actually testing out the various chairs made a huge difference. Our sales person, Kim, was so helpful!! She made navigating the store, comparing all the options, and really everything about this purchase so easy!! Highly recommend her!

The extended warranty they sell is a scam. I purchased an electric reclining couch 18 months ago and got the extended warranty. A few weeks ago, one side of the couch stopped working. Since then, I have contacted the warranty company several times and never hear back. I contacted VCF and was told that since warranty claims are handled by a third party, there was nothing they could do. But, VCF were the ones who took my money so that's a cop out. Warranty company still unresponsive. Hoping BBB can help me resolve the issue. Instead of buying the warranty, stick the money you would have paid for it in an envelope and pull it out when your VCF purchase inevitably fails.

In August of 2007 I purchased 2 sofas, two end tables, a coffee table, & a side chair for my new home. This totaled out to around $5k . I had returned to VC after purchasing a bedroom set in 2003 which I loved and got many lovely compliments about. They still sold this and I even purchased a second night stand. The 1 couch, side chair and tables were made my VC"s best brand of furniture called The American Signature Brand that had a full lifetime warranty, which I have all the original paperwork from. We had no issues for years but then noticed an issue regarding the construction under the fabric. We visited the store and my original salesman Patrick still was employed there. I had an issue once before with a leather sofa- not American Signature, but it was under a year and was within the warranty. They picked it up to repair it and called within a half hour to advise it was not able to be repaired so they gave me a store credit. Patrick swayed me to purchase another American Signature piece. I was happy with my choice. Patrick on this visit was standoffish and honestly kinda rude to me after I greeted him by name. He remembered me as well or so he said. His rudeness came after inquiring about the warranty. He had me sit and wait for the store manager. This manager arrived and sat and listened to us and then said they don't do that warranty anymore and that it was out of their hands. I was advised to call the corporate office. The customer service in that moment felt awful. I work hard for my money and don't make a lot. That purchase was expensive for me at that time and the fact that I returned from a previous purchase and spoke highly of VC to everyone telling them to see Patrick because of the experience I received I just felt like I got the run around. That store manager I felt should've called corporate and handled that. Especially since I had the original paperwork in black and white stating it was covered no questions asked and he reviewed it and acknowledged he was familiar with that warranty. Stand by your word and stand by the products you sell! Especially for repeat customers who purchase multiple rooms of furniture! After walking through the store, prior to speaking with Patrick, with friends who I took there to purchase new living room furniture for their house witnessed this entire customer service encounter nightmare. I still have the sofa but will be purchasing a sectional and NOT from VCF. We all agreed that the quality wasn't there anymore. It seemed like "throw away" furniture. Poor construction, poor fabric, not enough stuffing, the list goes on. We left the store and I have zero intention of ever returning. I went to David's furniture on Jonestown Rd across the street and spent $15k on new furniture (custom designed couch & side chair, and full bedroom set) for our new home. We also purchased from LazyBoy for our den and spent $6k on a reclining sofa and side reclining chair. Our friends also purchased furniture from another store as well due to this experience. VCF messed up and lost us as customers.

Great selection and I like they have more modern options now. The pricing is good and not as outrageous as other furniture vendors.

Ordered furniture. Took 2 months to deliver it. Once it came in it was broken ! Thank God I purchased the protection plan. Called to get it replaced first they said July which its May now. Then their manager called me and said they can't get me new furniture until OCTOBER! She had HORRIBLE customer service and told me have a bless day and hung up on me after I said I waited forever to get my furniture and I have small kids in my home and the wood from my Sofa is basically sitting on the floor. So I'm without a sofa and she hung up. SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!! I wouldn't recommend this to my worse enemy!

The employees at this store are unpleasant, unprofessional, and not trust worthy. I tried to furnish my whole house with this store which has been the worst mistake i've ever done in my life. 6 month later of ordering the items i still have not receive my complete order and on top of that my delivery date continues to get push back. This store should be shut down.

Absolutely horrible customer service from Mechanicsburg office. Sales people at Hbg were great. Delivery and CSR at the Mechanicsburg office are the worst I've ever dealt with. Driver show up last week. Can't fit couch in. The 2nd attempt literally switch ends and push again. Then quit. Never tried any other angles. My old couch was longer!! Monday they call and give me a delivery time of 1:00 to 3:00 today. Driver shows up before 12:30 and leaves. I had taken 1/2 day off. The lady I spoke to tells me I was told 11:30. She lied. Manager gets on and tells me they'll deliver Saturday. !! Unacceptable. She says they take off delivery fee, and I explained that's already happened due to the last fiasco! Zero service.

If you buy furniture from here don't bother buying the protection plan. My couch had a manufacturer defect with the frame and they were going to replace the item. They charged me a $300 delivery fee to bring me the section that was broken. And no one was willing to help. I was on the phone every day for almost 2 months talking to countless people just trying to get the order to even go though. I work in customer service and this was a Horrible experience. I know I will never buy another piece of furniture from them. Everyone I spoke to told me how easy of a process it will be and someone will call me the next business day, never happened. Then I got bounced around between stores till they got someone who would help. And that's where I paid the $300 just to get the piece replaced and end this horrific experience.

This store is an absolute nightmare. We bought a couch last November that turned out to be faulty. Fortunately, we had the full insurance/warranty, & were able to replace it with another model. The staff at Harrisburg, other than the salesman (Derrick?), were horrendous. We chose to take our business to the Mechanicsburg store instead. A full FIVE months later, and we are STILL trying to get a working model delivered to our house. They have come to our home FOUR times, and every time they come, they deliver damaged goods. Furthermore, we paid off the couch on 1.14.2019, and yet our credit report says we still owe them $700. Do yourself a favour and GO SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN Valu City Furniture. You'll regret it. PS, don't bother calling their "Cusomter Care" line. They hang up on you. Ended up reporting them to the BBB, which hundreds of other people have done too.

Edit 3/27: Picked up our sofa this past weekend (after finally having time to paint!) and it's so perfect. Pick up was very easy and their great team member helped us to load the 2 pieces (loveseat and chaise) into our trailer. Sofa was WELL packaged for travel with cardboard, strong plastic, and a fabric cover over the sofa. Legs were stored in a little zipper pouch on the underside of the sofa. Total assembly time was less than 5 minutes. Thanks again for an exceptional experience from start to finish! We had a great experience working with Eric L. and Lana at the VCF Harrisburg store. I think I've sat on like 1,000 couches trying to find the one that would be comfortable, fit in our small space, and have the looks we wanted. Eric was VERY patient with us while we made sure this couch was THE couch. He didn't balk when I showed up with paint chips to put against the couch before we even actually ordered it. Excited to get our couch home and enjoy it!
