2958 National Pike, Chalkhill“Stopped here on a way home from a wedding. Absolutely adorable with what seems like never ending Christmas and antique items. My boyfriend and I grabbed some hot spiced apple cider and ventured around for 20 minutes. Ended up talking to the owner, Ashley - who is the 2nd generation owner, during check out and had a great chat. The store, which clearly was a historical home, has an interesting history. Definitely recommend asking about it. Prices are fair, plus you get to support a small business. Looking forward to stopping by on our way home for thanksgiving.”
“Store was very clean, lots of items to look at. Found a perfect living room picture 40 percent off. I was in there early. So checking out was not a problem. Will visit again later on.”
“This was my first time shopping here. I had a wonderful time. I found several clothing items for my grandsons to start school with. I will definitely go back. Bought several name brand clothing for twin grandsons.”
“Thank goodness, the hours are back to normal now. I really missed them being opened longer. I'm so happy that they have just about everything I need, only thing I dislike is, I was told that they wouldn't hold anything for me for 24hrs were dollar General in Lemont Furnace will put stuff back for me for a day or two. It's really sad because I would have thought that they would know me better to do so for me. ????❤❤❤❤? they get a good review from me,except for the one thing. They have alot of great products to buy, they have very nice employees, except 2 that I honestly don't care for. One is a manager that I don't like the person's attitude, and 2nd the new employee that they hired, well let's just say that I don't see them keeping her very long, very sneaky type of person.”
“Merry Christmas!!!
My most recent trip to the Christmas Shoppe and Downer House Antiques Village was for a Girl’s Night Out I set up with my friends for “Christmas in July”. It did not disappoint! Put me in any place with Christmas, and I am one happy girl! I just love how they have different consigners set up throughout the village with their own styles and unique collections to sell. The prices have a very different range up and down the scale so you just have to find your favorite consigner and purchase from them. What’s great is, they don’t just have Christmas. My last trip, I bought a Vera Bradley wallet, so you never know what you’re going to find.
The house itself is an old house that is reminiscent of Christmas past. Even the stairs have Christmas wording painted on the front of them. You walk through each room to get to other rooms and you never know what you’re going to see. The right side of the house is made up more of Christmas where the register is. If you go to the left, there is some Christmas and some other items that fall into the antique department. Upstairs, you will find quite a few rooms including a Halloween room for those who love the month of October. The village out back has individual buildings that are set up the way the consigner chose to do them. I have a few favorites back there and the scenes set up in each one of them are so much fun. There is one specific consigner that does theirs by color and it just gorgeous! This place is certainly something to see!
Outside, there are plenty of photo op areas, and in the spring and summer. There is even a greenhouse area towards the back behind the village. If you are plant lover, there is plenty to choose from.
I found some items to sock away for Christmas gifts and a few vintage items on this trip and couldn’t be more happy with my purchases!
The workers are always very polite and engage with you. There are baskets to carry your items in. Credit/debit cards accepted.
*It does have a wheelchair accessible parking lot, but to get into the actual rooms would be very difficult.”
