“I love Pittsburgh Pottery. You can find all things Pittsburgh here. They have mugs, magnets, prints, etc. Everything is hand crafted and unique. You can find classic Pittsburgh sayings like "jag off" or "jeet yet" on everything. This is the perfect store for Pittsburgh lovers or tourist that want a good souvenir. Don't forget about all the pierogie references.”

“Jeff was awesome! He walked me through the process of selecting a frame and which glass to use for an old drawing of my wife's family's farm, and it could not have turned out better. On top of everything, Jeff even worked with me to stop in at the store on off hours because I was unable to pickup during normal hours. I will 100% be using Jeff from here on for all my art and framing needs.”

“If you are in need of a custom frame, this is the place to go. Lee and his staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a ton of options for you to choose from. For the quality of the frame they produced, the price was fair. Would recommend.”

“Despite the bright panels on the outside, Irma Freeman Center for the Imagination is in many ways a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of place. Even after having been past it on foot several times, I often had fairly little idea what it was. My first impression was that it might be a community center for disabled or destitute youths, and therefore somewhere that serves a valuable cultural function but in which I have no place. I was very incorrect in this assumption, as I found out later. One day, while the doors were open, I walked in. I was treated to a private, minimalistic indie gallery featuring work by local artists. At the time, the exhibit focused principally on abandoned sites in the Pittsburgh area, with photographs giving an eerie portrait of the region's history. It was as though the photographers were archaeologists documenting recent times that have fallen into obscurity and ruin. This is of course not the only exhibit: Irma Freeman's collections, ever changing, deal with a number of different artists and themes. Gift shop at the front door and opening night receptions every First Friday of the month. Strongly recommend!”

“Gail and Kip are amazing. This is my second time having something framed at James Gallery. When I say excellent all around service I mean it: kindness, patience, professionalism, expertise, etc.. They were so helpful in assisting me with an old photograph favored by my mom. I didn’t initially love this photo, but it meant so much to her and I was eager to give it a newer look. They included me in every step of the process of deciding how to choose the appropriate matt and frame. This exceeded my expectations and I have a new love for this photo. I would definitely encourage you to avoid online and go and meet them in person. You will not be disappointed!”

“Amazing! My prints look incredible in their new frames and everyone at the gallery is so friendly and helpful. The turnaround was quick and I loved that Mark was able to come hang them for me. Highly recommend!”

“Honestly, this was one of the best kinds of experiences best seen in person and not through a picture. Through the entire walk through, there are no dull spots. Everywhere you look has a bright, colorful creation. I'd love to come back and see new creations added in the future! I would also love to experience this at different times of day and different seasons and see how different the art reflects! Hands down a favorite place to visit.”

“I'm all about hidden gems within any city but especially when it happens in my own neighborhood. With that said it's absurd that I've not given them a review yet. It's actually irresponsible of me not to have done so sooner. This is a cool little gallery with lots of vibe. Every now and again they have exhibits with showing open to the public that are a lot of fun. Viewing art, sipping wine and meeting fellow artists, designers and art admirers is always best when in a welcoming environment. Even when they aren't having open exhibits you're able to pop in and have a look around and make purchases. Always something unique and eye-catching here. They've done it right. Check it out if you get a chance.”

“A beautifully morbid collection of items. There's high priced items for collectors, smaller items for gifts or souvenirs, and an interesting display of things not for sale. As an out of state visitor, it was worth the time to visit. I hope to come back one day!”

“We had a piece of artwork framed here (and are going to have more framing done in the future). My experience with J.J. Gillespie was excellent. Mark is very professional and courteous. You never feel rushed because he wants you to be satisfied with your choice. He has a great aesthetic eye for matching an artwork with a frame so that it compliments and highlights, but does not detract from the image. I highly recommend J.J. Gillespie for their professionalism and reasonable cost. AAA+++”

“I stopped in randomly making my way through The Strip District a few months ago. After looking at his work, I felt I had found the right person to make the urn for my father's remains. My father died 7 years ago, so you can imagine I've been looking for a while. He was kind and respectful, and our whole encounter, he was honest about what he could and couldn't do.He reached out when it was completed, but I was in the middle of a bunch of different crises. He held it for over a month, waiting for me to be able to get there without ever pressuring me. I finally picked it up today. It is exactly what I wanted simple but one of a kind.”

“I love small art places. No complaints here. Well done small gallery with high quality retail space and add in an activity - yes, please. Wish I lived closer, so I could take a class. Or visit late afternoon and walk next door to Hopfarm Brewery. Now there's a winning pair!”

“10/10 spot! The owner, Jason, has such positive vibes and Mike, who’s tattooed me for 7 years, is a great addition to the shop. He always knocks it out of the park and brings his own dope style to an already dope place. So happy this place is open again and will definitely be a regular stop for me!”

“This is a new and innovative gallery and art studio in Coraopolis. I've met the owners and the are enthusiastic and nice. Besides the gallery space, they teach art classes and you can drop in at various times for open studio. I attended their grand opening last night and it was wall to wall people, just amazing how many people turned out. The gallery is part of some exciting changes in the neighborhood. A new coffee shop is opening right next door, and a brewery is opening across the street.”

“Very insightful exhibits. I recently attended the one that showcased local Pittsburgh artists and was completely lost in the different works. Plus, occasionally there are even baked goods!I highly recommend you check it out and see what's on display!”

“During my recent visit to the Eclectic Art & Objects Gallery inPittsburgh to drop off a landscape painting for restoration, I wasdelighted to find your collection of African Art & artifacts displayedin the new Art-In-Place gallery Showroom. After viewing the variousexamples and reading the background literature and provenance of theitems, I came away with a new appreciation for the highly stylized andunique examples of African Kuba Cloth fabrics, ancient pottery designs, carved ritual masks, and even the more contemporary African paintings. We love the Art-in-place exhibition concept as well as the unique "Try nBuy, Audition Offer" including the lovely Kuba Cloth that I will betrying out in my home. Thanks for all of the wonderful artwork thatyour Gallery brings to Pittsburgh, many of which eventually end-up inmy home!”

“I've been taking a pottery class there and I love it! We're in a small group, we are fairly free to do what we want and our teacher is here to help, answer questions and show us the way.”

“I visited Sweetwater a few years ago for a pottery throwing class and I had the best time! We spent a good deal of time learning and throwing and then we had several pieces at the end of the workshop that we were able to come back and pick up! I'm interested in trying some of their other classes now. As an adult, it's intimidating to learn a new skill and find somewhere to go that's affordable and friendly. This place was perfect!!! I went for a date and would recommend it as a cute date night or a place to go with friends.”

“I have been coming to this store with my family for years and they have the best Pittsburgh-related gifts and high quality gemstones. One of my top favorite stores in the Strip District. I love Art of Steel!”

“This was incredible. My fiance and I went here on a weekday afternoon so it wasn't horribly busy. We had VIP passes, which I recommend as you have a flexible window in which to visit and also get free lanyards, posters, sunflowers, and cushions to sit on while enjoying the show. The actual exhibit was different than I expected. It is a 30ish minute long show that loops constantly instead of a walk through exhibit like I was expecting. I didn't mind that though. The music was expertly orchestrated to move with the art and enhanced everything about the experience. Mirrored columns reflected the art instead of interrupting the immersion. Colors flowed and moved playfully across the floor in perfect combination with the art all around.Everything about this experience was magic.”
