Hours are a clear as mud. You would think that the days and hours of operation listed on Google would be the times when you can take recycling, such as old electronics, to their location for disposal. Silly me for making such a common sense assumption. The truth is that the hours listed on Google mean nothing since they will only take certain recyclables on specific days. Their actual days and hours of operation are only listed on their website. To add to the confusion, they put the recycling hours on the bottom right part of their website. Rather than putting the hours of operation concisely at the top of their website with a clear description of when they accept certain items, they instead put the hours at the bottom immediately below another set of hours for their administrative office which has nothing to do with the hours of the recycling facility itself. So, this led me to take a 25 minute drive to be greeted by the 1 of about 15 workers in the parking lot just be told that they will not take my old microwave because they were only handling paint that day. I guess its too much to ask for 1 of the 15 workers to handle a simple microwave drop-off. I mean it was paint day don't you know? The incompetency of the Cumberland county location compared to the Dauphin recycling location is amazing considering that Dauphin county's is free for their residents and Cumberland county charges $0.50 a pound to their residents. This location will tell you to go away if you show up when the facility doesn't feel like taking your type of recyclable on that day even though their Google hours show them as being open.

Easy access, courteous staff, safe disposal of appropriate material. Don’t throw it out if it needs to be recycled and reduce hazardous waste in landfills. Bring it here, pay a small amount, and help keep all of us a little safer.
