My daughters and I walked in this morning around 9:30 & the woman working was beyond rude. She and the other young woman working had their backs to us & never even acknowledged that we were there. After some awkward silence I asked if they still sold cakes & the woman curtly replied that they are short staffed, so they don’t have baked goods. She never even turned around when she answered me! As soon as she walked to the back we left & I highly doubt that I’ll be back.

Barkus Chocolates has been in business for decades, but I only recently heard of them and tried their chocolates. I bought their potato chip stack, peanut butter cup, s’more, and assorted box of chocolates. I liked most of the flavors. My favorite was the cherry cordial.

Barkus Chocolates was originally founded in 1953 in Pittsburgh, and over the years, it expanded to several other locations. This location in Butler opened in 1994. Barkus Chocolates sells a variety of chocolates, such as cordial cherries, chocolate-covered pretzels, peanut butter melt-aways, chocolate-covered potato chips, s'mores, pecan turtles, caramel patties, caramel apples, truffles, peanut clusters, and many others.Through Barkus Chocolates's website, I ordered a potato chip stack ($4.25), a peanut butter cup ($7.25), a s'more ($9.50), and an 8-ounce box of assorted milk chocolates ($17.95). Shipping cost $7.87. The next day, Barkus Chocolates shipped my package via the USPS. One day later, the USPS delivered the package to my house. I felt happy with the speed of the shipping.I enjoyed the flavors of most of the chocolates. The box of assorted chocolates included flavors such as cordial cherry (5 stars!), raspberry, mint, cashews, peanuts, coconut, raisins, orange, etcetera.

The chocolate is very good. That being said I was disappointed when I got there and asked the cashier if they had baskets, she had attitude right off the bat and pointed and shook her head like I should have known where the baskets were. I then scoured the shelves and ended up getting $50 of different chocolates. I got up to the register and the price was more than I thought I asked about the lb of bark I got. She had a sassy attitude when responding to me and said the price I then said oh I misread the sign could I only get 1/4 lb she quietly and miserably took the chocolate out of the bag and gave me 1/4 lb and threw the voided receipt on the back counter then barked at another employee to finish the void. Plain and simple the customer service was horrible and she had major attitude issues.

For my husband's birthday, a friend surprised him with a Lady Lock and a Sundae Cake! They were fabulous (and I am not a chocolate cake person!) I wish I had taken a picture but I really didn't need to, they look just like the pictures on their website!

We had a Barkus Bakery in Bellevue when we were growing up. Our aunt Kathy loved taking us to the bakery to buy their cream-filled cupcakes, and buying their melt-in-your-mouth sandwich buns. I was heartbroken when Barkus closed in Bellevue.
