I came here for the Magic Lantern Show. Like most people I never heard of a Magic Lantern but loving history had to see it myself. I loved it. A Magic Lantern Show is a form of entertainment from the 1800's that uses a Magic Lantern, similar to a projector. The Magic Lantern used in the show is an authentic piece from the 1800s and many of the slides are original as well. The operator puts the slides up on a screen while he narrates a story, often while music is playing. I knew many of the stories such as the Night Before Christmas, A Christmas Carol, and the birth of Christ as well as some I didn't know. Before the show the operator also interacted with the audience, personally asked each and everyone of us where we were from, and gave us a Christmas quiz, offering mini candy canes as prizes. With only 30 working Magic Lanterns left I'm glad to have seen this lost form of entertainment.
