5139 US-220 BUS, BedfordI can’t say enough good things about Dr. Bracken and his staff. Very professional. Clean facilities. They took our dog in at 5pm for an emergency. Fixed her up and even called to see if we wanted to come get her that night. We had never been there before and it was a smooth process. Both our dogs will only go here from now on.

The Bedford County Humane Society stands out as a truly exceptional rescue organization. Having adopted and fostered numerous dogs over the years with both my own and my wife's family, we've interacted with humane societies and shelters across many states, including DC, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and North Carolina. Among them, the Bedford organization consistently ranks as one of the best.
They've assisted us in various situations, and our most recent experience truly highlighted their dedication. We found a dog wandering on the road and immediately contacted them for help. Their communication was excellent; they quickly instructed us to bring the dog in and began efforts to locate the owner. Thanks to their prompt and caring action, the dog was reunited with its owner almost instantly. While it was a happy outcome, what truly impressed us was how incredibly helpful and communicative the staff at the Humane Society were throughout the entire process. They genuinely cared about achieving a positive result and made every effort to keep us informed.
