While the front-line workers were friendly and eager to help, I was pleasantly surprised with seeing the isles so organized and eye catching arrangements. This is one of the best looking DT stores by far that I've visited. “I always find at least one thing I didn't know I needed. This time it was stickable backsplash stickers for the ceiling of a bus I'm converting. I originally went in for a dustpan and brush but they didn't have brushes (only dustpans) it is because they didn't have what I needed is why I knocked off a star but otherwise it was a pleasant experience and I like the tiles.”

“This is basically one of my FAVEY stores. Unique finds every time.
There was an incident today. New woman(in training)working the cashwrap. She was a breath of fresh air because typically the cashiers are just barely making eye contact, let alone smiles.
She noticed a line forming and asked the other woman to ring people. The other woman refused and said “I’m training you.” It was really just uncomfortable. BUT THENNNNN, the new woman said “not really” and just kept ringing with a smile. I was floored and my heart was smiling from top to bottom. I was very impressed. I would have hired her on the spot because I need people like her. She actually “understoooooood the assignment!”
She probably got fired. I’d put an lol there but getting fired isn’t funny.
I should have hung back and waited and poached her but…. I didn’t have time. Either way! Standing up for yourself and calling people out for being condescending neeeeds to happen more often! The other woman was clearly not “training”.
(I’ve worked retail for 34 years. I’ve been there and said nothing. I’m just happy she got to say her piece!)

“I like coming here for a variety of things. They have nice furniture, home decor, food and just about everything without having to go to big chain supermarkets. Their garden section is great. Lots of flower pots in all sizes and nice garden decors.”

“After we exited the eye doctor, we passed this Asian American dollar+ store filled with this and that:toys, novelties, freezer food (dumplings), drinks, food storage containers, balloons, stationary items, greeting cards, auto supplies, household goods, more!Michael, was helping an African American man and after a minute, tended to our inquiries and showed us around the different aisles to differentiate the Asian products and the American products. .I mentioned the black customer because a few ONE STAR REVIEWS mentioned racism and nasty shop owners.ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE to substantiate those claims.Reviewers may have adverse thoughts against these folks.As you enter the store, the aroma of cleanliness, a subtle vanilla scent permeates the air and feels calming.The place is immaculate and well organized in every way.Personable shopkeepers, helpful in every way.I found clothes pins and floral wire, $1.49 each.I’ll be back to get those shrimp dumplings made with rice.Thank you, Michael, you are the BEST.”

“I want to give a shout out to pen argyl pa dollar general for one of the best employees of any store I met today that worked there, his name was Jorge and was wonderful. Not only did he rush over to open the door for me, he was pleasant and personable. He offered the girl in front of me to carry her stuff to her car it was bulky and heavy. The girl said it was ok she could carry it out and he actually told me he felt bad that he couldn’t help her because of how bad the weather was. I was short on my money and I was asking him to take off something. He refused and took it out if his pay. He said merry Christmas and paid it. He is a young guy with a Heart of gold that deserves recognition and made what has been a very depressing month due to my son being in a coma after a seizure and going into cardiac arrest. Jorge made me smile. What a wonderful kid with a great positive energy.”

“I moved back to the area last year and the Saylorsburg dollar general was new and improved. Today I went into the store and myself having a rough day had to use a few different debit cards to pay for my purchase. The wonderful Girl Ariel was taking care of me ,with a smile and never complained. It was a great experience and made my day better. Thank you Ariel.”

“This location , store is very clean , nice and organized. Staff is always friendly and always willing to go out of there way to answer your questions or help you find something. All the stores have upgraded, and have a nice small selection of produce. They always have great deals. I would recommend to download there app, then clip any coupons for items your going to purchase, and don't forget if your going there on a Saturday, clip the coupon for $5 off $25 or more. That's every Saturday. All you have to do, when you go to checkout , you enter the phone number you used to sign up with for the app, and your digital coupons will be deducted.”

“Up early and after breakfast at kitch en, we wanted to stop by Big Lots in that strip mall but it didn’t open until 10 am. I noticed a man exiting the DG there so stopped in hoping to find a few specific products.
Up one aisle, I encountered AIESHA, a personable employee busy stocking shelves. I loved her vibe and great energy. asked for the lawn & garden section.I saw the sign that mentioned BOGO, buy one and get one FREE. OK. 2 Citronella candles, 2 citronella spiral wrist bands, 2 plastic watering cans, 1 pack of fertilizing sticks.
I mentioned the sale to the cashier who thought it was buy one, get one 1/2!
Anyhow, she summoned the manager(?) who fixed the price on the water cans. I paid, then walked away to check my receipt because there was a line of customers. ALL the garden merchandise was charged at FULL PRICE. I returned to cashier and explained why wasn’t ALL the garden stuff discounted and she told me manager should have adjusted price while she was there!
Why wasn’t those sale items programmed into the algorithm of the computer from the start?
And why didn’t the manager look at other merchandise and make those adjustments. Very poor customer service.
Not happy that I had to leave those other items there.”

“This DG is almost right next door to where I live. I could walk there if I had to. They just remodeled the store and its very nice. Honestly this is my favorite DG out of the million that popped up around here. Cleanest. Friendliest staff. They don't have unputaway products lining the isles like others I've been to. The staff doesn't seem to hate their jobs like most of the DG's I've encountered. They rarely have extremely long lines like the one in Effort does with only one poor cashier on the register. If someone isn't present at the register bc they are stocking they have a pig to squeeze kinda like having a bell. A little unconventional but better than hunting down an employee to cash you out. Kudos to this DG for being one of the better once around this town.”
