Be weary of this school; a very cult-like mentality among them is apparent. They force each student to add at least one teacher or staff member to their Facebook account, to make sure they are keeping a "Christ-like" image outside of the school to make the school look good. Whenever they go out for field trips, students are reminded to "Be on your best behavior, you're an example of our school" to again make the school look good. Students who do not attend church regularly are talked down to. Teachers routinely teach their students right-wing propaganda instead of teaching them the unbiased basics of economics, politics, and history, so the students do not grow up to think for themselves. The history books are biased towards the conservative party. The science books are out of date, most from early 90s. In regards to science, teachers do not teach the controversy between evolution and creationism, so the students can think for themselves, but instead they completely avoid the topic of evolution, and teach children to never look into it. The teachers often do not have degrees in subjects they teach. For example, a science teacher may have an English degree, etc. Science is the school's weakest area, which puts God and Christians in a negative light, because it reinforces the stereotype that Christians are scientifically illiterate. They are building a gymnasium, which will cause them to go into debt, all the while there are outdated textbooks being used, only to appear more tempting to bring in new students. Students are emotionally manipulated to do work for the school. For example, the annual auction, students are guilted into cleaning and working for it, and are forced during the day to help prepare for it. The annual servathon, although may appear to be a way to spread Christian love to the world, is actually just a way for the school to raise money by exploiting the students. Female students are forced to wear a skirt, which has nothing to do with Christianity whatsoever. Bible classes do not teach theology or the history of Christian theology, such as how the Bible was canonized, etc, instead Bible classes are only classes used for emotional manipulation, telling the students how terrible they are and how good they have it at that school, and robotic memorization of the Scriptures. The church associated with the school does nothing to help the poor and needy. Teachers recently have been abusing their power over students by withholding incomplete homework information to students who have incompletes on their report cards. Students are taught not to date anyone from public school, and when a student does, they are told that their significant other is a wh*re. When a student refuses to help the school with things such as the auction, God is used to emotionally manipulate them. There is a certain teacher who has anger problems and tries to emotionally abuse students by intimidating them and treating them poorly when they do not understand the subject that he teaches. Lunches are unhealthy frozen foods. Teachers expect students with part-time jobs to call off work only days in advance just so they can help the school with something. The only sports are soccer and basketball. Extra-curricular activities are far below any normal school. There is no advanced placement. Computers are slow and out of date. The teacher designated to teaching the children with learning disabilities has an anger problem and constantly yells at them. The students who are a part of the family of the pastor who started the school get special treatment, such as not having to finish assignments if they do not feel that they have to. Please do not send your child here. Send them some place where they can get proper education.
