This place is the definition of a hidden gem. I live nearby and had no idea it was here until a friend pointed it out and suggested we try it.
I am by no means an artist. I look like a big-time normie (white, square, short hair, not hip) and was afraid I'd be out of place. I was intimidated when I walked in and saw the folks there were cool artists doing pottery stuff. When I saw the pieces we could paint I thought I wouldn't be able to do it very well.
But the owner (I think it must have been Katie) was so friendly and helpful! She answered all my dumb questions and gave us instructions on how to paint our pieces. She came over to help multiple times and made it such a welcoming place!
If you think you can't do art, go here and try it. It was awesome and very relaxing and you'll learn some stuff. Can't recommend it enough!!
I'm attaching the pic of the lil hedgehog dude I thought I couldn't paint. The way they fire the pieces makes it look better than it does when you paint it.

My partner and I took a wheel throwing class with Amy, and she was fantastic! She is super approachable, informative, and encouraging throughout the process and offered a perfect mix of letting us do things for ourselves and stepping in when necessary to make sure our final products came out the way we envisioned. We felt at ease with her from the beginning, learned quite a lot, and came out with several items we'll hopefully use for years to come!

Katie's Clay Studio is an absolute gem for clay enthusiasts! They offer a wide range of creative options, from painting your pottery to learning the how to throw on the wheel. What truly stands out is their VIP Open Studio membership, which is an incredible value for anyone interested in pottery, who is able to center and make a basic cylinder. Once you qualify (a low key half hour or so with the studio owner or another instructor--call ahead to schedule) you can play in the wonderland of the wheel and hand building room, with access to the HUGE glaze selection without committing to the mess and expense of a home studio. You also gain access to expert guidance (and some really wonderful potential friends) in the form of the staff and other potters/students. Katie and her team consistently provide exceptional service, going above and beyond--I watched them kindly paint eyes on pieces for people who didn't have steady hands, and help salvage pieces that otherwise wouldn't have turned out well (helping add extra glaze if a piece looked thin, or grinding down sharp edges of glaze if a guest didn't quite listen to instructions and slathered it on too thick). As a studio member, staff kindly helped me trim, create foot rings, and add handles to mugs when I couldn't quite make it into the studio in time. They also helped me moderate the drying of my pieces by covering them if they needed it, or by helping them dry more quickly by placing them on a kiln if they were firing one that day. These are details other studios don't pay attention to, and they really are labors of love and care by the fellow potters and artists on staff, and seeing the amount of work they do, any activity there is great value! You'd spend soooo much time and money trying to replicate the experience and results they provide. The crew is friendly, accommodating, and ready to assist (though it's important to read the room if things are busy--it's a community place and as stated, the staff works super hard behind the scenes to make sure people's projects turn out great, so be kind! You won't see half the work they do to make your painted pieces turn out beautifully, safely packed, and fired in a timely manner). If you aren't into pottery, there's a wide variety of available activities (canvas painting, glass fusing, traditional pottery painting, extra durable stoneware painting, gift shopping from local potters, a selection of crafty gifts, wheel throwing lessons, and more). The main painting room is the perfect venue for an afternoon filled with creativity and socializing for anyone who needs an alternative to "let's do lunch." The full studio is bright, spacious, and easily accommodates bookings for large groups, including a party area which allows guests to bring in food to share, making it enjoyable for pottery enthusiasts of all skill levels. I saw a family reunion, multiple birthday parties, and a work Christmas party for a medical company, and young and old people really seemed to enjoy the chance to relax and try something different. Whether you're a novice or an experienced artist, Katie's Clay Studio is a fantastic place to try something new or return to a creative pastime you've been missing.

Katie’s clay studio is the ultimate in creative clay fun! They have so many options from paint-your-own pieces to throwing clay on the potters wheel. They have hundreds of choices for paint your own and many options for wheel lessons or open studio time. Katie and her staff are always kind, accommodating and helpful. I’m soon to host a third group pottery party at Katie’s with a large group of friends for some afternoon creativity and socializing. Katie and her team couldn’t be more flexible and her studio has ample space to accommodate large groups! Always a fun time for all levels of pottery enthusiasts!

I called on short notice on a Saturday for a group of 12 for a bachelorette party. They were able to accommodate us with a larger table in the back. They were incredible! From explaining the different painting options to the different pieces to the pickup! We had a great time, and all of the pieces were bubble-wrapped, labeled, and had care instructions for pickup. I couldn't recommend Katie's Clay Studio enough for all ages. My mug was $29 before gratuity.

Relaxing and fun atmosphere, friendly and talented staff, ask about their techniques they offer too! So many that I've never seen before and already want to go back to try them all.
