Emergency Homeless Shelter. Will house you for 30 days, however if you are not working/saving money, you will get discharged.

This has been on my report since before Covid: It's one of the worst cases of creating fraudulent Christians by fear mongering I've seen. I also hear they are discouraging people from working so they can collect money on who they shelter, which is unverified but aligns to other recent complaints. They're also guilty of blatant disability gaslighting, which the ending of this drives this home. There's three programs here. I have little info on the addiction recovery program.First program, they force their patrons out early morning, regardless of cold or disabilities. Last I heard, you have to be back by 7pm, unless you're working, or you're out on the street. Reason: for ministry, which would often show videos or sermons of the end times, to scare people into converting. Christians converted this way serve fear, not love.Their Christian Living program requires you to have a job, study the bible, and to give them your paychecks, some never get them back: what can the homeless do, sue? This program also comes with -ahem- "counselors", which take the role but are legally required to say they're not... But they decide what you supposedly need, and you have to follow to stay in the program. This includes a case some time ago of an autistic boy who was in the program, who practiced martial arts and read manga about feudal Japan. She forced him to stop reading them "for his own good".She also said he was the reason he was homeless, that people need to take accountability. He was homeless because his mother was mentally ill, killing his sister when she was 3, abused him until he left for the shelter. This place also has kicked people for having a place to visit for a holiday, such as visiting family overnight who can't take them in.

It's not the Mission I have issues with, it's the uncleanliness of the individuals that are also temporary residents at the mission

This place is an absolute joke. The staff members are deceitful and spiteful, and stick up for each other no matter what, even when they know they are wrong. If you're working on Clean Team, you are not allowed time to find an outside job, and if you do, they kick you out no questions asked. They hide behind COVID-19 when it's convenient for them, forgetting and often mocking the biblical principles they claim to stand for if it means making a quick buck. They beg hard working folks for food and supplies they already have enough of, and they force us to discreetly throw things away when they no longer have use for them, so as to not allow anyone to see us, or they might stop donating. They show favoritism, and flat out lie about the clients on their Facebook page, and will be quick to delete any comments they don't like or agree with. It's no wonder so many former staff members have nothing good to say about their tenures here...That's all for now.

As with any place there's issues but the hierarchy of this shelter do care, their fair and they go out of their way to help. Their slogan is God is love and I believe they try hard to practice what they preach. Dispite what anyone says, this is the cleanest shelter I have ever seen. The tempiture is comfortable and the beds are really nice. For the other people that have left reviews and said that this shelter is dirty. It's a complete lie.Pastor Paul Pusey

I volunteer at another non profit in Allentown and we have alot of homeless men come in and ask if there are any emergency shelters and we tell them the Rescue Mission and then comes the BUT... you can't leave the property even to work because of covid. You can only go to Dr. appointments. How can they rehabilitate if they are not allowed to leave the facility and work to get back on their feet.

It's nice they took me in for the night, but there under covid restrictions, since covid came out. Meaning once you register. You can't go look for a job or nothing you are stuck there till who knows when and they can't even tell you when it would be lifted. It's like a prison sentence. With out breaking the law. Punished for being homeless.
