The sushi made by is made by Qi Qi, who is very kind and hard-working. It's definitely a step up in quality versus other Safeways.
Of course the ingredients arent super premium and expensive, but you shouldnt really expect that here honestly.
Also I'm leaving this review to counter that one guy whinging and giving 3 stars. She will make custom sushi for you still if it's not too busy.
Anyways, I've yet to be displeased and shall gladly return and enioy :)

The chef Qi Qi is very friendly. Sushi is sooo delicious. It’s the reason I come to this Safeway. My favourite sushi place!

8:05 came in the door by the flower shop to pick up items to make dinner. 8:15 while checking out at self check, only a few items, 3 employees were hanging out chatting about how the female employee had to work while the other two male employees told her to call the union and said that is not right, family comes first. On my way to the door by the flower shop walking in-between the conversing employees I was told to stop the door was now locked. Aren't you open until 11pm? The employee stated it was for their safety. I asked if someone was going to then walk me to my car as I, a single woman, parked closest to THAT door. They said no. You have some good employees during the day but I would say your night staff needs a bit more training.

Ordered a birthday cake a week in advance. I showed up, and had to wait for her to finish it. I even asked her if it would be easier for her if I picked a cake from the case instead. She was obviously having a bad day. The eye rolling and gossiping with a coworker was a nice touch. Yes, I heard you. The cake was late, the writing was terrible, and attitude was not necessary. It all started with: I'm here to pick up a birthday cake. I had no idea a cake order would be served with a side of garbage. The store is run down, and the service is juvenile.

They dont rotate or toss out deli food as they should
They dont keep it up to temp

I am a pretty regular customer of Safeway and have a nodding acquaintance with several of the clerks. I don't enjoy the serve yourself machines, so usually try to check out with a human being. I have found them to be friendly and courteous. Recently I was in need of a laundry product that I use a LOT of and decided I might as well ask for a case of it. The people I dealt with were uniformly courteous and helpful.

Nothing here is fresh the rice was hard and then they charge you a lot for this stuff I would never ever buy sushi from Safeway again it was a horrible experience but it was a lesson learned

Ok, I really like the old time store that Safeway replaced, but oh well, it's gone. Wattaya gonna do? Safeway can have some sales. Like milk at $1.97. I mean, right now I wish my car ran on milk because it's going up 40 cents a day. In another month, it will be $6 a gallon. Go Brandon. Anyway, Safeway can have some deals, but had a bad experience with a sub sandwich yesterday. Apparently, someone forgot to take the plastic of the provolone cheese when slicing it. I got a good taste of a four inch long slither. Pretty darn dangerous if you ask me. Took it back today and got a refund, but manager was like, " Que sera sera." What happened to the days when people said, "how can I make this up to you? I am so sorry you almost choked and died.." Nope. That world seems to be gone. Sorry Oscar. I appreciate the refund. But your customer service skills need work.

Worst customer service, cashier and bagger stands around and act like you interrupted their conversation when I asked a question, very rude and will not shop here! Management needs to do a evaluation on their employees.

This store needs to be taught customer service and be friendly to your customers When you stand at the counter waiting to get fish And ask can someone help me and the guy says I'm working on something what the heck is that? And when he finally decides to help you another customer ask where some kind of spice is and he leaves what he is doing to go show where it is when he is not done with you..... RUDE RUDE RUDE Do you train to be friendly and assist your customers or do train them to be RUDE ....?????? Maybe you should look at your customers ratings Obviously something is not right at Safeway !!!!!!! Learn How to treat Customers in the correct manner Remember Safeway customers are always first!!!!

The sushi it not too bad but of cecent they started to refuse making sushi on request stating "premade only" but the premade ones have some yellow stuff smothered on them so I no longer buy sushi there.

Avoid like the plague! Terrible customer experience due to poor selection, quality, and indifferent poorly trained employees. Worst example of a large chain grocery store I have ever seen. If you charge premium price you should expect premium service and selection. The store facility is dirty and rundown. If I could give it zero stars I would.
