Joel and his team have been a lifesaver! I had a previous business partner and accountant not exactly follow through on promises. They were able to go through it all, offer corrections, and get me back on track. I run my personal finance and business books and payroll through this team and am very happy with the level of understanding and support I get from them.

We have been working with Joel Shaw for 15 years and HIGHLY recommend him. He is the CPA for both our media company and personal taxes. We are always impressed with his level of expertise. He genuinely listens to our questions and concerns, and finds the best strategies in navigating the complexities of current tax laws. Early on, he saved us a lot of money by re-doing things our former CPA had missed. He is wonderfully proactive and he or his staff are always readily accessible for questions—whatever the scale. I only wish we had found Joel earlier.

It was a big mistake for me to hire Joel Shaw to do my 2017 tax returns. He promised to complete the returns in 2-3 weeks but it took him 5 weeks after me checking twice on it. Then he demanded a large deposit up front, which I have never been asked before by any CPA. After reviewing my return, he misrepresented the actual important numbers from my data, omitted over $10k of business expenses which increased my tax liability by A LOT! But the most important fact is that he refused to meet with me to correct the return and dump me as a client just 3 days before the tax deadline!!! I was shocked by his outrageous and unprofessional demeanor and behavior.

I would never deal with Joel Shaw, CPA ever again. He is NOT what he promises to be and to do. I hired Mr. Shaw this year to do my tax returns. He promised to get it done in 2.5-3 weeks, but it took him 5 weeks and I had to remind of myself twice. It appears that he doesn't hire enough tax prepares to handle clients. Then he quoted me one cost but later complained how much money he wasted on my return (that doesn't take more than a day) and that he should have charged me double. The most important thing is that he eliminated a very important deduction for me which resulted in a much higher tax liability and instead of meeting with me to answer my questions he dropped me, as a client, 3 business days before the tax filing deadline. Completely unreliable, doesn't care about the client, but only cares about charging a client max. He also demanded a $500 deposit up front. In my 29 years filing tax returns, I never met a CPA who demanded a deposit up front and a high deposit. Don't waste your time! He wasted the entire tax preparation season for me. Refused to file an extension, too. He completely screwed me. I should have never hired him.
