Beautiful art work, definitely 5/5 there, but I asked if they do custom work, and when one of the employees said "yes", I asked if they were able to do a sort of margarita glass with bubble glass, a blue rim and maybe some sparkles on the rim too. They said no, and that's totally fine, but when he asked another coworker at the shop (roughly 5'3" brown hair in a low pony tail and large glasses), she said that she couldn't do that. Again, that's fine, we just wanted to shop locally for someone who could make my mother in law 4 cups for Christmas. But then she started commenting like "maybe you can look at an online website for Cabo, or however you pronounce it. I'm sure they would be willing to make a Mexican glass." And "that sounds... awful" and "I don't know why you'd ask an American to make a Mexican style glass" as my fiance and I were walking away, and got louder and louder and seemed like they were trying to make a point asking them if they wanted to help us with custom glasses? Idk. If they had a problem with asking if they could make a custom glass, I wish they'd be real about it instead of whatever else they were trying to convey.
TL;DR : beautiful work, seemingly antagonistic workers when asking if they do custom work

I started buying marbles and paperweights from Peter Neff at Portlands Saturday Market clear back in the late 1980’s. He is great. The studio has a nice selection of material. They are friendly and always willing to talk about glass..

Peter, who owns the gorge glashaus never disappoints with the beautiful glass art that he makes. Had several things made by him that have put ashes of departed friends and pets.

Cool spot. Loved the pieces. Wanted to get some drinking glasses, would have bought multiple but they were all so wide. Not a bad problem, just would have came home with quite a few more if they weren't so wide. I picked the one I did solely based on it being the most narrow. They were all awesome, I loved seeing prices being blown.

Wow. This place should be a MUST visit, even a passport stamps for McMenamins. It is wildly cool. I've always been interested in glass blowing and to be able to sit so closely and watch these artisans at their craft it was a very special afternoon. They are so educational as they do each part of their process and will educate you and answer any questions you have. I will also say you should DEFINITELY visit when it's cold outside. Because you get a respite from the cold, in the fiery room with heat coming off of their kilns. We stopped in for a "quick look" before the brewery tour and had to come back to watch the fill cycle of a piece being made because it was SO intricate and so amazing to watch. I really really enjoyed this experience.

I love art and they make wonderful blown glass. It's also fun to watch them create and fire the pieces!

I came here to purchase a piece of artwork for my best friend for her birthday. She was very happy with the gift & loves it! After looking around other places in the Portland area, I came back to Glashaus Gorge because I thought the glass was much prettier, unique & affordable than other places I looked. I would definitely recommend anyone to at least come take a look at the art & watch the glass blowers work on their creations.
