It has been several years since a vet at Best Friends pushed me to euthanize my cat. My poor kitty struggled against it. She ran away. I was crying. The vet should have said it was okay to wait. I've since worked with vets much wiser and now know the process is supposed to be smooth and gentle. I write this so they might learn something. If a cat and owner are not ready or seem highly confused, tell the owner it's okay not to proceed. I would have gladly paid the fee and waited until my cat and I were ready. This traumatic experience has haunted me for years. Here's the kicker. This vet was not my normal vet. She knew nothing of my cat's medical history. She just seemed in a rush to do it and leave.

This veterinarian is the most unprofessional, immature, narcissistic person I have ever experienced in my life. She constantly demeans her staff, yells at them, throws things at them, and throws things towards the animal patients.I have no idea how she got licensed, but she needs to go back to kindergarten where she can learn how to treat people correctly and learn decent, proper manners. I will never ever ever! Refer someone to this veterinarian or her practice. To top it off, her husband is the HR personnel, so there is no avenue to be able to talk some sense into this wicked practioner.

Yesterday, March 10,2023 I made an initial appointment for one of my 4 Alaskan Malamutes with Best Friends. Initial visits are $60; about the same as my long-time veterinarian, Animal Hospital of Grants Pass (AHGP)...today I cancelled this appointment. Unlike Dr. Webster at AHGP, who admits animals and owners inside to consultation/treatment rooms now that officially the COVID19 epidemic is over, Best Friends only offers "curbside" appointments. I don't mind "curbside" when ordering a burger from some fast-food burger joint, but I draw the line with curbside animal care...not my animals anyway! I see such impersonal care from out in the parking lot, instead of inside the clinic as purely a business decision; cutting quality of care inside the office replacing it for curbside care, to me is not much different than my doctor's appointments being out in the parking lot instead of inside his office. Now that COVID19 is mostly behind us, with few exceptions masks are no longer required in public places, even at the local 24-hour emergency veterinarian facility. And even where masks are still required medical care is not rendered in parking lots! "Wear masks, but come on inside." Thus I see this "curbside only" as a business decision, decreasing in-office quality of care exchanging it for squeezing in a few more patients out in the parking lot each day. Possibly this fast-food approach to care for their animals is acceptable to most folks around here...not for me, and definitely not for my furry family members!

Best Friends Animal Hospital is the best around! I am so impressed with the top notch care as well as the follow up the staff provides. Every person that we came in contact with is friendly, caring and knowledgeable. I am confident that my dog is receiving the best care! They are also incredibly affordable in comparison to many other veterinary clinics in the area.

I am so grateful to have found this wonderful animal hospital! Everyone is very professional which is great, but they are also kind, helpful and caring which is so wonderful when your pet is injured and you need help. I recently moved to Northern California and couldn't get a vet within 60 miles to even see my injured dog. I was at the end of my rope when I called Best Friends and realized how differently they treated me. They actually went out of their way to get me in. They operated on my baby and did an excellent job. He's well now and I will always be grateful for their help, understanding and kindness.

Absolutely awful service. Extremely rude front staff and a doctor that doesn't let you get a word in. They accused me of lying, even though it was a breakdown in their process and I have proof. When I tried telling them what I think occurred, they wouldn't listen b/c they couldn't accept responsibility. They didn't even want to listen to it. Sad that they wouldn't want to know what happened so that it can be avoided in the future for all parties. We will never go back, and I couldn't recommend them to anyone.

My mom has always taken her animals here so when I got my frenchie I did the same. Laura is great and we love her. I recently took him in and was seen by the other doctor. Dr. M (I can't remember her whole name). And I had very simply things I wanted her to check! A hot spot on his penis, his deformed spine and weird discharge. Because I couldn't go in I had to tell a lady who was not paying attention, my concerns in the parking lot and leave him there. When they called me to come pick him up the doctor talked to me as if I knew nothing. She really told me the hot spot wasn't a hot spot and was in fact his belly button......no. She somehow missed the fact that the end of his penis was raw and scabby. She then went on to tell me I should know penises have discharge and that's all it is. Ummmmm....no again. It's green discharge and the head is black!! As I explain this to her she goes "oh I didn't see that. Yes that's an infection!!" She prescribes him some wipes and THEN starts telling me I NEED to do something about his tear stains. Says they'll be infected in no time. I ask if they are and she says no but they can be. And they look bad. I take great care of my dog. He's my best friend. His rolls are always clean and dry. He's cleaner and treated better than a lot of children. The fact that I had to point out over and over that there was an issue with his penis when it was clear as day is a problem for me. It was my main concern and she didn't even look at it. I had specifically asked for dr. Laura and would only go to see her. Dr. M didn't say anything about his spine but pushed me to neuter him. He has three fully working legs and is just over a year old. He needed to build up the muscle mass to compensate. But she didn't want to hear it. Just told me she'd schedule him to be neutered.....no thank you. We'll do that when I feel he's ready. It causes no issues and he's still packing on muscle. She was very condescending and spoke to me as if I knew nothing.....his belly button....really!!! I'm so glad it was his last check up there before we moved to Texas. I was dry disappointed in the treatment we got. I would not go there unless I could see Laura and Laura only.

The best vet in town! Our little fur baby snagged her toenail pretty badly a few days ago and it wasn't getting any better. We called this morning and even though they were fully booked today, they still squeezed us in knowing our pup was in pain. Our little doggy is the light of our life and having to take her in during this pandemic was a little stressful thinking that I wouldn't be able to go into the lobby with her or hold her in the exam room. Our pup is a very shy and timid and the vet tech Mekala was beyond amazing with her! The vet talked us through what to expect and how to care for her foot. They even clipped her nails on top of everything. Everyone in the clinic was beyond amazing and treated it as a main priority (even though it was a minor little thing). I am so thankful for this crew and couldn't be more impressed. So happy to be cuddling with out healing little pup.

Didn't care for this place at all. Don't take your animals here! This is the kind of veterinarian office that up charges you on things you don't need because you don't know what your sick pet needs or does not need. I felt like they did not care about me or my dog at all. On one occasion, I order my dogs flea and heart medicine from Chewy.com because it's cheaper and you need a vet prescription to get them. Well I asked for a prescription, got it. But then they denied it after I ordered from Chewy. They called me to yell at me and told me to just order from them next time. (which would cost 3X as much) and on one other occasion my dog was having breathing issues, took her in, waited twenty minutes for the women to tell me they can't do much of anything and charged me for my visit, prescribed something for my dog that I ended not using at all because is made her so lethargic and not herself at all. Then the secretary charged me for things that I ended up not getting. Didn't realize til I got back to my car and looked at my receipt. Went back in to get my $100 over charge back. This place scams people, don't go here. Never went back after that. I now use The Cheerful Vet down the road from this place is it is 10000% better. I am so happy I found that place. I highly recommend the cheerful vet instead of this place. Our pets are our family, find a doctor who treats them as such!

Best Friends Animal Hospital was amazing! We have gone to other vets, and our puppy needs some teeth extracted. Best Friends did a free dental consultation, and gave us a very reasonable and fair estimate. We have talked to 3 other vets who all gave us much higher quotes for the same procedure. The vet and assistant at Best Friends genuinely cared about our puppy's needs, as well as the cost and what is necessary vs. optional. We liked our other vet but they were always trying to up-sale unnecessary things. I would recommend Best Friends, as they are caring and affordable. :-) Very happy with our appointment, and relieved to find a caring and thorough vet who explains everything, while also loving up on our sweet puppy.

My mother has taken her animals here for close to 20 years. Last week, as she sat with her very sick, very old, 16-year-old dog, waiting for her to be put to sleep, I went in to ask if the room was ready because my mom's dog was howling. She was confused, old, and most likely in pain. The front desk girl immediately asked how my mom would be paying. Again, my mom has been a patient there for near 20 years. Do not take your animal here. I had another experience with a cat who had been hit and I found their owner and before they would see them, they wanted to discuss payment. I believe there are more respectful ways to do this than treating members of people's families like a bank account. Again, do not go here.

Avoid this place! Horrible care and will deceive you and make you pay more. Any person who forcefully holds a 10 week old puppy's mouth while they are screaming in pain deserves to be removed from service. I'm appalled by the actions of this clinic and especially the so called vet Mindy. Definitely filling a complaint with state board! If you love you pets avoid this place please.

After a week long road trip, our dog had an ear infection and needed her anal glands expressed. We stopped at this vet and they were amazing and had our dog feeling better for the rest of the trip home. Highly recommend!

This practice has been owned by Dr. Steve Poet for years. A smart guy & best vet in town. You can tell he loves animals.
