Very polite. They close 10 minutes early to allow themselves time to do paperwork. So plan around. If your showing up anywhere 10 minutes before a business closes you have probably never worked in the service industry.

Stopped by this place to get some gas before heading home after a day at the lake at exactly 8:50pm and the door was closed. So apparently there 9pm closing means nothing. Woman was counting money and waving people away.
