Best place in Springfield Oregon to have your computer repaired. The owner Patrick is an excellent computer technician. Thank you Patrick for the job well done.

My laptop developed a charging connection issue and needed the port changed--I had verified this with a shop in Portland. After coming back to Springfield, My elderly father did me a favor by going to a shop in a town to see how much the repair would cost. Unfortunately, he went to Gizmobyte. My dad advised Patrick there about the issue and asked how much it would cost to solder in a new port. Patrick took the laptop, tried plugging it in, and after about 2-3 minutes told him that there was a connection issue and a new port needed to be soldered in. He would not give a cost estimate except to say he would need a $75 non-refundable deposit and after opening up the laptop he would determine how much it would cost to replace the port. My dad told him he would need to ask me what I wanted to do. When he went to take the laptop back, Patrick pulled it away and told him he needed to pay a $20 diagnostic fee for looking at the computer. This individual did not perform ANY diagnostics--he spent 2-3 minutes with the laptop in an empty store with no other customers. We told him exactly what the problem was to start with and he just parroted back what we had told him. The $20 isn't a big deal, but it is absolutely detestable for someone to take advantage of an old man like that and charge him for a service that was not provided. He did not tell my dad that there would be a charge for looking at the computer--if he had been upfront about that, my dad obviously would have just left and gone to another store because we already knew what the problem was and what the solution was, we just needed to know how much Gizmobyte would charge to carry out that solution.Obviously, I would never give this place another dime and, even if this hadn't happened, there is no way I would hand over my $1,800 laptop and a non-refundable $75 without any kind of quote. That would allow this guy to arbitrarily decide how much to charge me and leave me with absolutely no recourse no matter how much he decided to charge. I am extremely disappointed in Gizmobyte's business practices.

I don't leave reviews, ever. but I do check them. i went into this store not sure why to expect, and I left pretty happy. The dude at the counter was engaged in my questions and help me figure out a few things I wasn't certain about. I was hoping it would have more high end desktop parts. But, they had enough of everything and I left happy with my purchases. I'd give a 5 start review if they had water cooling kits, but, they had virtually everything else. And I was told they would order it for me if I wanted to wait. Overall it was a good experience. Fry's is a lot bigger, but this place had what I needed. Respect

Was able to fix my laptop but customer service and politeness wasn't friendly or welcoming. Felt disrespectful and rude.

Couple months after getting a used laptop from here the mousepad went out and the battery has trouble staying connected (I have to manually take out the battery and put it back in for it to work properly). Laptop still works but just a lil janky.

Patrick is very nice and informative. Definitely knows what he's doing and is honest with you. Prices were very fair and he called me as soon as he was done with my laptop and even let me come after hours and get it. Not many a business can boast a less than 24 hour fix on your laptop. Best Buy told me it was a $400 dollar repair and would take 3 weeks. $100 and 3 hours later Patrick had my laptop back to me. I can't stress this enough. GO LOCAL!

I had a hard time getting parts locally to put an SSD in an older Dell Tower. This place was my savior. They were knowledgeable, helpful and had the parts I needed in stock for a fair price. I was delighted to be able to spend my money somewhere besides a massive online vendor or a big box store. Thanks for providing a great service to our community!

As an amateur PC builder myself I can firmly say that Patrick is incredibly skilled, time efficient, and detailed. If you EVER have any PC related issues, I assure you there's nothing he cannot fix. On top of that, he has a wide variety of PC parts and accessories and as such he is instantly my go to for parts and supplies. There's very few things you can't find at Gizmobyte, and whatever you can't find, he can easily order.
