Rude owner. As someone who has been visiting this area for 20 years, I will not visit this store again after how the owner talked to me today after giving him my business, and even while there were other customers inside. Judging by all of those 1-star reviews, it is common that he treats his customers rudely. Won't be surprised if this place ends up going out of business within the next couple of years.

Owner is extremely rude. Went in with my girlfriend and younger sister to purchase several items and did in fact notice the several “cash preferred” signs all over the store because we aren’t toddlers and CAN in fact read, contrary to what the owner seems to believe. If cash is PREFERRED and not the only accepted method of payment at this store, then paying with card should be no issue. The OWNER of any business should not guilt the customer for their payment method?? Literally makes no sense to me like you’re selling it either way? Why complain, and even then you’re complaining to the wrong person. Don’t be mad at the customer for wanting to buy your merchandise? We quickly changed our minds and left this store because NO WAYYY I give that thief of oxygen a CENT of my money- whether it’s from a card or cash, I will never go back there again. If you don’t like all the fees from visa maybe switch to, I dunno, CASH ONLY? Like various other stores in downtown Seaside have done. The little goblin of this store complained to my partner when she offered her card as a payment method and processed to guilt her for wanting to buy something. He was incredibly rude to her and shamed her for wanting to buy her parents a gift. Maybe your business isn’t struggling due to visa fees, maybe it’s the fact that you’re an a hole to the paying customers who come into your store. Do better. Customer be warned lol. Cray. LOTS of other amazing small shops in seaside with kind owners who won’t make you feel bad for coming in. Recommend checking out literally any of those instead.

Wish I could give 0 stars, the owner was extremely rude because I was using Apple Pay on a $15.99 sign, saying he makes no money with card purchases and trying to make me feel guilty about it?? He just kept complaining as I was buying so I just said nevermind and left, then he got more upset as I was walking out lol. Also: it says cash preferred upfront, not cash only. Unfortunately I just didn't have cash on me this day. Owner is a real piece of work.

This store has a lot of neat things, I really like the vintage silver rings he has but as mentioned in other reviews, it’s very cramped and the person upfront- who mention he was the owner- is a real j**** He gets extremely upset if you aren’t paying with cash and said “this isn’t even money” when I went to pay with card. He has the rings I like priced very cheap. He complained to me that I was paying way less then I should be… Even though it’s his prices. I’ve been there a couple times (we live in the area) and he has never been nice. I won’t be going back anymore after this last time.

Cashier was incredibly rude and argumentative. Said something passive about my appearance as well as the two others I was with. Extremely upsetting behavior and very rude. Will not be coming back next time we visit the coast. Clearly unwelcoming environment

Always find cool gifts and items here! Only reason for the 4 star is the store was randomly closed on Friday during the 10am-1pm we checked with no reason why and Google said it was open. Out of state family members were bummed they couldn’t get some Bigfoot gear.

We were looking for a magnet souvenir to take home with us and we ran into this store. It is cramped and stuffy but that was fine. My husband was turning a corner and some older man almost ran over us and didn’t apologize. I thought “man I hope that’s not a worker”. Sure enough, when we went to the till, the same man was at the register. He didn’t say hi, nothing, just grabbed our magnet and rang it through. While he was doing that I noticed he had signs all over that said “Please use cash if you can”, “we prefer cash” and “Cash is still legal tender” (quite frankly that last one gave me “COVID is fake” vibes but I digress).Unfortunately I didn’t have any cash, just a credit card. He didn’t say anything, except when he rang it through he said it didn’t go through, so I asked my husband for his. The man sighed as he took it and said “I wish people would just use cash. If you used cash it would be much easier on me”. I apologized and told him I had no cash. He kept grumbling and saying how people who use card are running him out of business. At this point I’m starting to get irritated, and told him maybe he shouldn’t offer card? He continued by saying “SIGH it’s costing me $25,000 to have Visa”. And then I was done. As he turned the machine to me, I grabbed my card and said “you know what? No thanks. I’m done”.He raised his voice and said “Well now you’re not being nice, all I said was that I prefer cash, and that it’s better for my business”. I said something along the lines of “well now you’re not getting any of my business at all, not with your attitude” and walked out. He proceeded to yell after me. Wow. Just wow. How is this guy still in business?Garbage. Stay away from this place.

We had a great experience here. When I went to check out, the owner was working the register. He immediately started wrapping our mugs and frogs in extra layers of paper bags to protect them without even having to ask. I asked if he offered a military discount and he said yes. I paid with American Express and got no push back. I don't like tourist trap places but apparently lots of people do. This guy has been in business over 40 years so he must be doing something right. We wanted to buy a couple of coffee mugs for our trip to Oregon so we stopped in this little place. It is chock full of all kinds of goodies. If you are in Seaside and you are looking for a memento to take home, toys for the kids, beach buckets, towels or anything like that, this is the place!

Upon checking out the owner was huffing and puffing while rolling his eyes and said “oh great, I get to start my day off with a card purchase” then proceeded to complain he paid over $27,000 in fees last year and that people who use cards were putting him out of business. I felt so uncomfortable and confused almost as if he wanted me to offer to not buy anything at all because I had to use a card. It was bizarre. I nicely apologized and asked if I just shouldn’t get the items then and he got pretty aggressive and told me I didn’t need to get offended because he was being nice. I don’t know what world he’s living in where he thinks he was even the slightest bit “nice.” Just an interaction/experience that will leave me with some bad energy for a while. I would for sure skip this shop- there are plenty of other shops with wonderful + kind owners and employees.

I don't usually leave reviews, especially bad ones. You'll see why I left this one. Some of the merchandise was neat, but the store is quite disorganized and cramped. When I went to check out, I was doing my best to be very friendly and amiable, but the man who I think is the owner was short with me, seemed a little impatient. As someone who worked retail as a cashier myself, it's not that hard to just put a little effort into being polite, even if it's just to the customer's face. It may just be a coincidence but he seemed to just want to finish the transaction and get me out... Especially after I took out my wallet, which was rainbow colored. Again, maybe I misread him, but I didn't feel very safe there. I don't think I'll be returning any time soon. If you're of a younger generation/visibly queer like I am, be wary of this place is all I'm saying.
