shopped around for a week, visiting multiple dealerships, and did my homework. Landed with Volkswagen of Salem. Great sales team! Ask for Tonya. You won’t regret it.

Just got back home from trying to drop my 2016 GTI off for a recall service this morning. This dealer is 40 minutes away from me, so it isn't convenient to get to.
I wasn't told as part of this recall service I needed to have less than a 1/4 tank of gas at any point by the dealer or service writer. I got turned away upon showing up because I had half a tank. This should have been conveyed to me when scheduling, or when reminders were sent. At any point in the process really. I've now wasted 1 hour and 20 minutes of driving, gas, and my schedule for the day was built around dropping this car off around 7 and picking up at the end of the day.
Another note. I did not deduct stars for this mind you. You are not able to confirm loaner cars during your scheduling process or get the ball rolling, or even request one if available. You have to call a few days in advance to confirm and may be SOL. I forgot to call in earlier this week, which again is on me, but still incredibly inconvenient process.

Took my car in for a specific problem diagnostic they had my car for 2 days and at the end they pretty much just did a code scan for $200, you can get the same diagnosis for free at autozone. Really thought they would b more helpful and give more insight and technical information about the problem but really seemed like the advisor didn’t even care soon as I pulled up first thing he said was “ok that’ll be $200” before even mentioning the car or issues found and if I wouldn’t have asked he wouldn’t have even mentioned anything of the car whatsoever. I now know they just want to up-sale, sad thing is I don’t even think the technician found the root cause of the actually problem and just proceeded to make some bs that made no sense. Don’t waste your money here on services on your vehicle. Take it to a local repair shop who will actually appreciate your business

Forest is lazy, and shouldn’t be working in the glass; he said my car was too much work and he didn’t want to help me. Wow lazy much. I have money and all the window but he’s lazy and didn’t want to do the job? Does that sound like someone who should have employment, not to me, good job VW for hiring lazy and incompetent people.

Richard Rowe went above and beyond to find the perfect inexpensive car for our granddaughter. It was her first time driving a stick and he took the time to show her how. He sold 6 cars that day and I can see why. Thank you, Richard!

Poor customer service in the service department. If you like to be spoken down to about recommended services for your vehicle and washed over with vague language to why this is your place. Communication throughout the service is poor to non existent and is only a text with a video attached to a list of recommended overpriced services. I will not be returning due to the unprofessional staff and arrogance the service department team interacts with customers.

Working with these guys as an out of towner was miserable. Refused to call me back when they said they would multiple times. Said they would do things they never did. Extremely bad experience.

I took my 2022 VW ID.4 in for a 30K mile service and was stunned to get a quote of $1,100. I was told these were all standard maintenance recommendations based on Volkswagen of America guidelines. Unwisely, I approved the service.
While waiting, I checked the VW of America website. It calls the 30K mile maintenance "Standard Maintenance - Small". 1. Check 12V and High voltage battery 2. Use the vehicle diagnostic tester to check for DTCs. 3. Service Interval display, Resetting 4. Tires, checking condition and wear patterns, Tread depth, entering.
VW of A says to change brake fluid at 3 years, but it was done at 20 months. I was charged for tire balance (not on the list above). There was an intent to change a coolant (not on list above). As soon as possible, I stopped the service and removed my vehicle.
We are told that electric vehicles have few moving parts and little to maintain, and that maintenance costs will be low. Not if charged $1,100 for "Standard Maintenance - Small". A disappointing experience.
Follow up: After my original post, VW of Salem has worked with me to address my concerns. Their response is much appreciated. Thank you.

Stole 900 dollars from my wife and I. I bought a new car and traded in my old car. They waited a month to pay off my old car, meanwhile I had to make a $900 payment. After i paid the payment they paid off the car minus the $900. When trying to resolve the issue they just play dumb and don't return calls. Turning the matter over to an attorney. Shame on you vw of salem. We have bought 5 cars from them and have been treated like garbage every time. Im done with this super shady dealership.
