We've been here with two cats. One with cystitis who couldn't get into my regular vet. It was a wait but it's an emergency room and I was greatful as cystitis can be life threatening in male cats. They had great recommendations for changes to make which have made a difference. A few days ago we watched as a kitten in the road was passed over by a car. Found unchipped with a degloved leg and they fixed her up, did tests to make sure it was safe to bring her into our house with other cats, and other things we didn't think of having not planned on being foster parents until earlier that night. Wonderful experiences!

Horrible people don't trust them with your pets. I work trying to sell people Home services. I can tell when someone is trying to run up a bill and that's all they were trying to do. They don't care about your pets health they are just trying to run a bill up for you. Knowing you are vulnerable they will try to take advantage of you. They will charge you 200 just to get your pet in the front door and supposedly do an exam all they do is put them in a kennel in the back. If you care about your pets safety don't bring them here.

There have been several times I've needed after hours care for my animals. The last couple times I have used Salem ER Vet have been disappointing. Especially this last Monday night. Under direction of my own vet, I was instructed to bring my 17 year old cat in due to breathing problems. I have no issue with the wait time or how I was being kept informed. My MAJOR issue is when it was jointly decided the best thing for my cat was PTS. It was rather tersely put to me "I assume you'll want to be with her". Well of course I want to be there. She's my baby! Come time for euthanasia they have already catheterized her. They bring me in (I have been waiting in my car). I assumed we'd be in an exam room. They walk me into the lobby and around a divider and there is my precious little girl screaming her head off. I pick her up and cradle her and she snuggles into and quits screaming. I get maybe 3 minutes of holding her before they start the procedure. She is gone. Staff leaves the area. I hear staff taking loudly in the back of the clinic. I get about 5 minutes with her before they come and take her away. Trust me - 5 minutes is not enough time for me to tell her how much I love her and to thank her for letting me be her mommie for the past 17 years. I barely had time to give her a kiss. My heartburn has to do with how this was handled. 1st - For heavens sakes, this should have been done in an exam room. Both the animal and owner deserve privacy. 2nd - Some owners need more than just a few minutes t be able to say their final goodbyes. I'm not talking 3 hours but 5 minutes???? Seriously! ! ! ! 3rd - Someone just lost their precious baby. The loud talking in the back was not helping. There again, if this had been done in an exam room, chances are the talking wouldn't have bothered me as much. It was like it was no big deal for the staff. But it was a very big deal for me. I am so sorry that my precious little girl had to go thru this horrific ordeal at the end of her life, she didn't deserve this type of treatment. I wish I could have given her something much more peaceful. It is something that I will remember for the rest of my life, and not in a good way. Please, for heaven sakes --- staff, think about the patient and owner during this time in their lives.

Super nice staff. They got me in quickly. And their prices are on par with other ER vets in the area.

This place is the worst out of all places I've taken my dogs to!!! They only care about tiny yappy dogs!! They should know how to handle all breads!! This place is a joke!! Stayton Veterinary Hospital is 100% better!! We would be there but they are closed today!!

So thankful for these people! This is the first vet I've ever been to that made me feel like they cared more about our dog than money, they gave us options and were wonderful!

This review has taken me a while to gather the strength to write. July 25th, 2021 my spouse Cody brought our four month old puppy Indy to the Salem Emergency Clinic. Saturday the 24th she had gotten into cherries underneath a cherry tree on our property. The morning of the 25th, she did not look well. She was lethargic and weak. She was not eating or drinking. Cody brought her to the clinic with our ten year old daughter. I work in healthcare and was not able to go because I was scheduled to work that day. Once I was off that afternoon I touched base with Cody on Indy's condition. Indy had just been discharged, and Cody had been told she should start eating in a few hours. I was home once they arrived. I was in shock because Indy couldn't even walk. I carried her in. The prognosis was she had a blockage, and the veterinarian and staff had given her an enema. I read the paperwork, which stated she still had not fully cleared the blockage. Indy still had a blockage in her upper intestine! I asked Cody, "why did the veterinarian send Indy home, and did anyone discuss hospitalizing her?" Cody," No, the doctor only said X-rays and more labs would cost 600 dollars." Nothing else was discussed. I then called the clinic, and the doctor said to bring her back in. In my experience, the staff only discussed money and did not mention a care plan or give much guidance on her condition and options. By 5 PM my dog didn't even look like herself anymore. Indy's eyes were now sunken, and she was what appeared to be weeping. Indy was clearly what appeared to be in distress. We arrived at the clinic and the staff came and took her that was the last time I saw her. I called the clinic at 1130 that night for an update. I was told she was very weak, but they would do their best. At 6 AM Monday the 26th, I was notified that Indy had passed. I took a moment to process and inform my family of the loss. When I called the clinic back, the receptionist went over options for cremation or burial. I wanted her home and said we would pick her up that morning. The receptionist asked what we would like to put her in? I said I was going to bring a blanket and wrap her in it. The receptionist then said, "We have doggy trash bags we can put her in? She puked up a lot of blood and clots all night, and stuff is still oozing out of her." This was the harshest interaction I have ever encountered. I cry every time I think or speak about this traumatic experience. I simply replied, "I would like a doggy body bag." Had I known she was suffering like she had my family and I never would have prolonged her pain. Please, do not go here.

I am very impressed with this clinic. We had to euthanize our dog quickly. The clinic accommodated us in a very timely fashion. The staff were very compassionate/caring. I try to brag this clinic up every chance I get b

They didnt even try to diagnose my puppy, instead arrogantly accused us of feeding our puppy table scraps and letting him eat too fast(both untrue) He had been vomiting for 2 days, then lectured us for giving Parvo vaccine at home instead of at a vet, although the test was negative for parvo. Discouraged us from doing xrays when I insisted on it because he isnt pooping either. $580 later and still didn't know whats wrong, they assumed it was gas/enteritis, accused us of letting him eat too much on an upset stomach. When i told the vet he hadn't eaten at all that day and hadnt kept anything down for days despite only eating spoonfuls of food at a time. (Bland food diet, water) xray was "inconclusive" so they gave nausea med and fluids and sent us home. We waited 8 hours total, which i was expecting because it was a holiday weekend and there was a lot of sick animals, but just another frustration factor. Fast forward to now. My puppy has vomited 5 more times today and now at a real vet and like i thought yesterday he has a bowel obstruction.

Horrible. Was told $200 to see our hit-and-run pet. We finally came up with it, and was refused at the door. That now they want more money....Horrible people. Was only asking for an evaluation. I am shocked at the callousness of the woman that answered the phone

It would be better to hit your animal over the head and bury them in a shallow grace than bring them to this vet. If it's late and you have no choice, please feel free to enjoy the 3 hr wait for them to come to get your animal and then the 6 hr wait that costs $200 for a five min look-over. I'm not sure what I paid for a vet visit or cold storage of my animal while they had coffee and a staff meeting. The main point, go anywhere but here!

Absolutely TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE At about 12pm today my dog began frantically scratching her ears and shaking her head, at around 5 it began to get progressively worse so i called these guys and explained to them the situation, EXACTLY what was going on, they told me to head down as they just opened and they werent seeing too many animals right now so the wait was short.. they also emailed me an intake form to fill out as i was on my way... MIND YOU its an HOUR drive from where i am and as i am about 15 minutes away they call me to tell me that they dont see animals for "itching" in the rudest most condescending tone possible, and that if i DID decide to bring my animal in id have a 6-10 hour wait... all of this after being told there was only a 30 minute wait. When i told her the person i spoke to before told me i can bring my animal for this this other lady says "well IM telling you its not an emergency and we are an EMERGENCY clinic" Quite frankly if my parents handnt raised me right id pull up the clinic and give this b**** a backhand for talking to me like i was her damn son! Now my dog is back at home screaming in pain rolling on the floor and pawing at her face frantically and theres nothing i can do because all other vets in my area are at capacity

Don't waste your time coming here! Talked to the lady on the phone about bringing my 2 month old puppy in because she was scratching her ears, shaking her head like crazy and screaming in pain and not once did the lady mention that they don't see animals at the emergency for "itching and scratching". I wasted an hour driving here for them to call me when I am 5 minutes away to tell me that I will have to wait 6-8 HOURS to be seen since they don't consider what my puppy is going through as an emergency. What a JOKE!

This is a business that you will most likely visit during sad times when dealing with a sick pet. We had a dog who suddenly became ill and we needed help at about 9:30 at night. The hospital was available and their staff are very friendly and easy to work with. The vet was very professional and understanding. Even with COVID restrictions they made us feel comfortable for having to deal with emergency. I really appricated having this great team available.

PLEASE, SAVE YOUR PETS AND DON'T TAKE THEM HERE! THEY SENT US HOME AND MY DOG ALMOST DIED A FEW HOURS LATER (SEE PHOTOS AS PROOF). I would give 0 stars if I could. I took my dog here 3 weeks ago. They made us wait hours, took x-rays of my dog. Made us wait an 1 hour just to take payment from us and sent us home. A few hours later I was rushing my dog to a different emergency vet where they took x-rays and within 5 minutes we were told our dogs stomach was twisted and he was going to die. Salem Emergency Vet took x-rays of our dogs stomach and all they did was push us to start going to their second neighboring business for arthritis treatment. They tried swindle us, they weren't concerned about my dogs health whatsoever, they didn't even call until 2 weeks later to check on him, where I had to tell them they almost killed my dog. I have called 4 times since then to explain this to them and that we want our $700 back. And they won't return my calls. They almost killed my dog. This vet is dangerous.
