Was driving down I-5 when my "low tire pressure" came on my dash. Zoomed into Salem and into the Point S on High Street. Jason Dean was treeeeeeemendous! Took me in off the streets and got my tire all fixed up. I pulled in assuming that they'd just pump up my tires, but he informed me that since one of the tires was SO much lower than the other and I had just come off I-5, that there was probably something in that tire. And he was right. Big fat nail: thanks I-5! He got me all patched up and what was the charge? ZERO dollars! Just wanted to give Jason a shoutout for making my day and really helping me out! A very friendly and professional dude!

My first Point S experience was Rickreall ☺️ but this location is now my local store. Jason and the rest of the crew are amazing. Very patient and diligent with each and every customer. While my car was being tended to I overheard an employee who was helping a customer with a quote. He ran the situation by his co-worker and said, "I think we can save him some money."
1.) It's refreshing to hear someone ask for a 2nd opinion.
2.) That's a great example of teamwork.
3.) This experience confirms what I already knew of Point S. They really are a great value and exceptional quality and service.
Edited to add: I was there today to make sure my tires were aired properly since one of my tires had low psi. Turns out my Nokian tires that I purchased almost two years ago are still in good shape. The air valve stem needed to be replaced.

Called at 4 PM to see if they had a tire. They did. Drove the 27 miles to them. Got there at 4:45 PM. They ended up having to stay open a little late but they got my tire replaced and me back on the road so I could go visit my dad in the hospital. They were all extremely nice and the manager was very friendly and really took the time to care for us. Highly recommend.

Careful with that guy Matt, tries to upse most customers. Had a friend who actually worked their, and mentioned he’s quick to exaggerate tragedy stories to older folks to get them to buy THE MOST EXPENSIVE Tires since he knows they’re financially stable .. Woww . Then takes tires he removed , and sells them elsewhere I belive . If I remember correctly he’s a manager . BEWARE shame on u telling these vulnerable folks these tragic exaggerated stories . Be a man!

I Went here a little while ago to have new tires mounted on my Jeep and an alignment. My experience was pretty terrible. One of the gentlemen (I can’t remember his name) was very kind and informative, but the other guy I had to deal with was so excited to ridicule me about all sorts of things—I believe his name was Matt.First, he looked at my tires and misread something, so he came into the waiting room and announced very obnoxiously (almost like it was a Victory for him… Weird right?) that I’d bought the wrong size tires and that they would not fit. It was a little embarrassing because there were other people in the waiting room and he REALLY found that hilarious. So I politely asked him to double check his computer because I was sure I bought the right size. After a little more lecturing and distasteful ridiculing (still with the entire waiting room as our audience) he double checked his computer—lo and behold, they were the correct tires! Who would have thought he made a typo?At the time I was very upset with being talked to like that and I was probably WAY too polite. So we proceed with having the tires mounted. :)They came and got me when they finished and they showed me that while the tires do fit the rims, they’re rubbing the bumper and catching on it. I’d already accounted for having to do some minor body trimming through another auto shop. But Matt was extremely happy that my tires were rubbing. He even did a little victory dance—it might be hard to believe, but I actually have that part on video and I am able to share it. It was almost like a little boy declaring “I told you so!”Three or four times, he reminded me that he told me the tires were too big, even though the only reason he thought they were to big was because of the initial typo that he made. When he finished his little tirade, I asked if we could move on and do the alignment so I could get home.He said that they couldn’t do the alignment because the tires were rubbing, which meant they supposedly “couldn’t turn them all the way” (which was a pretty cringeworthy exaggeration). He also told me that no tire shop would do an alignment on them either BECAUSE of this. So I left and went to Les Schwab.Guess what? Les Schwab did my alignment for me and there was no issue. :)Even better, the alignment actually stopped almost ALL of the rubbing (Matt said there was no chance an alignment would help). I didn’t even need to do the body work I had planned.Anyways…You’d think someone at a tire shop would be a little more knowledgeable about these things.I’m wondering if he was so embarrassed about the typo he made initially, that he had to find some way to grab onto his slipping ego, and convince me that I was still wrong LOL.On a better note, Gills Point S did at least manage to put my tires on right! Their prices were also cheaper which was nice. Everyone else in the shop was normal and courteous, it was only that one person.Gills point S is perfect if you’re looking for cheap service, but don’t expect to be treated like you have your own brain.

I have been coming to this place for 26 yrs and am deeply saddened to make this negative review. I know machanics drive there customers vehicles when they are in the process of diagnosis but when they drive your vehicle for their personal leisure this is against the law. I put my truck in the shop on the day of my scheduled appointment and expected to pickup the truck @ 5p which was standard business through the numerous yrs of working with this certain company. This day I was called to retrieve the vehicle earlier and as a perk they could get my other vehicle in the same day to add Freon. I asked if it would be done that same day as I was not feeling well and I could barely hold myself up. I was told he was not sure but they'd keep it in the shop locked up safe. I responded to the answer with will it be done tomorrow? It's just freon, and I already had Freon I just wanted to fill it. Well all he would say was WE'LL CALL YOU. So the following day I called to discover that my vehicle was not done and was supposedly locked up in the shop until the machanic came back Tuesday of the following week? 4 days which was ridiculous as there's nothing wrong with the vehicle at all. The vehicle was a sound vehicle that I only wanted to put Freon in. When I called and was told why it wasn't done when they had it for 11 business hours and how long does it take to put in Freon? It certainly doesn't take 4+ days. The next question is why put my vehicle in the SHOP when I could be driving it???? When I told them I would be to the business to pick up the vehicle I was told that wasn't an option because " I agreed to leave it" which I absolutely did not agree to leave a perfectly sound vehicle in the SHOP when I could be driving it. Especially since it was my main transportation. I was adamantly denied access to my vehicle and told I was the one who agreed to lock it up in the garage for the weekend? Again I didn't agree to this. After insisting that I had no idea what in the world he was trying to feed me this line of BS I instantly thought Hmmmm the machanics vehicle broke down and it's a holiday weekend....the machanic has my vehicle and was planning on using it for the holiday weekend.I got pissed told him I don't care about what the machanic told you because I would never leave a vehicle in the shop that is sound with no issues. I insisted the vehicle be in the parking lot that I would be there to get it shortly. I arrived and my vehicle that supposedly was in the shop was hot on the hood as it has obviously been driven from somewhere else. I also discovered that the Freon had been filled. So I was not only lied to by more than one person they also refused to return my perfectly sound vehicle that was only there for a Freon top off after having it for 8 business hours. Told me it was in the shop per agreement by me WHICH WAS ALSO BS. So no don't come here this place doesn't return calls and drive your vehicle with out the owners consent.
