We love the Salem library. They have tons of options and areas that make it easy to find what you’re looking for. The staff is wonderful. I’ve only been a few times and they helped me know return times for different things. Their policies are easy and I love that it auto scans books on the counter. They have great options for homeschooling. There’s backpacks with different subjects inside to teach your kids. Some have dvds, but all of the backpacks come with various books in that subject. For example we got sign language, horses, family, and gardening. The limit is huge for how many books each person can take. My family of six gets 50 books and each backpack only counts as one. There’s playrooms as well for littles. I wish the fantasy section was a bit bigger, but I love having this library.

It's always a nice respite to spend a few hours in the library, the perfect place to existentially extrapolate ones available opportunities for personal growth.

Beautiful library and great selection of books! There are tons of shelves. It's a very big library. It has lot's of computers to get stuff done on. Since the renovation the library has become amazing! They have something for everyone. There are study rooms that have whiteboards and a tv. The lights can also be dimmed. I recommend going here if you’re ever visiting Salem or don’t have anything to do. Also they don’t charge you for late books.

Great environment, great place to come to read books, do some work, a lot of available spots to do what you need to do. Next time, I should reserve a study room & do some follow up calls with my clients. Peaceful place to get some work done ?

It's clean and organized, but you really have to keep a close eye on what your kid is exposed to here. Like so many other places, there are political agendas being promoted here, most visibly on the featured end caps. They have finally removed the WE READ BANNED BOOKS from the small children's play area thankfully, but I'm sure it was just relocated. Why would I want my toddler reading a book so graphic it was banned I'm not sure, but apparently that's an official stance of this library. The young teen section is almost entirely Manga, which is fine, but does include items that have obscene subject matter and images that would be more appropriate for adults, not teens. I now take the time to scan through my kids selections to ensure they aren't being exposed to graphic subject matter.

One of my favorite places in Salem - calm, relaxing, and welcoming. Love the extensive collection of children’s books that has turned my kids into bookworms. There are many comfortable reading corners and study areas, and every staff member is incredibly kind and helpful. I also love being able to borrow books from other libraries that are part of CCRLS - so convenient!

Absolutely love the Salem Library... I like the fact that their "Friends of the Library" store is super inexpensive and has a lot of really interesting books to buy, and support the Library with....Also, it's super convenient that the CCRLS "Chemeketa Cooperative Regional Library Service" includes multiple libraries across the greater Salem area. It brings the ability to access a much broader selection of books; and the use of the system is super user-friendly.5 stars over-all..

Huge, spacious, welcoming and comfortable library next to one of Salem's most historic areas with a wonderful selection of books and lots of friendly people. They make Salem a better place by their presence and hard work.

I love what they did with the recent remodel! It's very refreshing. Most of the books are organized like they were before, with a couple small changes, so it's easy to find what you're looking for. Checking books in and out is a breeze with the new "self-service" machines. That being said, the folks at the help desk are fabulous to work with if the machines act up, you can't find a book you're looking for, or if you prefer to work with people vs machines. As always, the atmosphere of the library is... peaceful and quiet like a library should be.

What an amazing center for community! Programming for all kinds of interests, an up to date and thriving collection, even a library of things! You can borrow a telescope, parks pass, an ukulele and so much more! On top of that, the kindness and customer service of the staff are top notch. I'm so thankful for SPL!

I really like this library. I've been a member since I moved here in 2017. All they need is more books!!

Went in for the first time with an open mind, just curious about what's on the shelves. Found the curation of each section pretty tasteless, both books and media. Staff picks were vapid. Yes, this is technically an arbitrary review ~ but ~ im a taxpayer so I expected this BIG facility to have more depth.
