This is an excellent hands-on museum for kids and teens to explore. There are several historic buildings that show the history of early Oregon missionaries and settlers in the area. And then there is the mill structures, such as the machine shop & the picker house, that show you all of the steps involved in the process of creating fabric from wool. Frequently there are people using looms on the fourth floor of the Mill building, weaving fabric while you watch, who can answer all of your questions. Our children from elementary age up to college students were all fully engaged and loved exploring this place thoroughly. We suggest giving yourself at least two hours to see most of things here. The gift shops are also well worth seeing.Note: As Historic buildings, not all of these areas are fully wheelchair or stroller accessible. There’s also some uneven flooring and ground throughout.

I am biased here. Let me tell you why. In middle school, I volunteered here. I loved it then and I love it now. History for those interested is that this was the Thomas Kay woolen mill. The start of what later became the Pendleton that we now know. The mill has many things to look at, the least is a newly restored caboose. Rich with not just Willamette Valley history, but with Oregon history as well.Be sure to look at the wood turbine that use to run the whole facility.Insider tip: during winter, they decorate the grounds with lights. That is a second trip that you will want to go see.

Great wedding venue!! We were there Friday night so it was probably less expensive.

Stopped for an impromptu brunch at the cafe and found ourselves walking around the center and taking a tour of the Mill.An incredibly charming place and the site of Oregon's first Woollen Mill.

This was a fun museum to visit. We just moved to Oregon and wanted to learn more about the state, this was perfect. We learned so much, it was a fantastic experience!

Was a bit underwealming. I saw this place in a YouTube video and it looked so cool, but there wasn't much here. Half the facility was shops and a restaurant. Buildings were no different then ones I've seen elsewhere, and they're not even original to Salem, aside from the mill that were brought from all over the state. Church was extremely disappointing and I found it so strange that they give you a key to the exhibits instead of just keeping them open. The main reason I came, the little canal next to the mill was pretty underwealming. No menu at the cafe. Maybe if there were actors in period costumes it would have been more interesting. That being said, I still give it 3 stars as I like history, and I could recommend if you have lots of time to kill, but if you're on a tight schedule, this place, along with the rest of Salem, can be skipped.

This place is kind of cool. Several little shops inside. Definitely an old building! I really only visited the Old Mill Cafe but used the restroom in the main building; it's very neat and clean.

We had a group of 8 retired people go on our trip & had a wonderful, educational time. Our guide Jason(?) was well versed & helpful when we had questions. We began with a video and then our journey consisted of the Mill & additional historical information.

I took a tour. The buildings were in great shape, and I learned a bit of history. There is a place to eat and drink. I heard the place was haunted but didn't see anything. When I asked the tour guide, she gave me the stink eye.

It was a beautiful day and wanted to stop for some pictures. They take really good care of these buildings. If you haven't went for the tour, you must! Take the kids and let them learn about the way things were. Very interesting learning the history.

This is a great museum. As a history teacher, I will admit that I am a little biased towards museums, but this definitely was a great experience. We went for the holiday event and it was so much fun. The tour guides are super knowledgeable and even had experience at the mill when it was operational. Definitely recommend both for special events and everyday learning.

Meagan was an amazing help at our wedding this year. We had lots of questions leading up to the ceremony and she was always willing to help us get the answers. My day-of coordinator said Meagan was one of the best venue coordinators she had ever worked with.

Tater tots were legit best I've ever had. Chicken sandwich, while a very fresh piece of chicken, was the blandest I've ever had. Such a contrast.
