THIS WAS OUR SECOND VEHICLE PURCHASED THROUGH CARMAX. BOTH TIMES WERE THE BEST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE . WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A TRADITIONAL CAR LOT AGAIN. EVERYTHING IS UP FRONT. YOU KNOW GOING IN WHAT THE PRICE IS AND WHAT THEY WILL GIVE YOU FOR YOUR TRADE IN.NO HIGH PRESSURE SALES. BOTH VEHICLES COST LESS THAN WE FOUND THEM ON CAR LOTS. PLUS CARMAX OFFERS A LARGER SELECTION THAT ANYTHING LOCAL. THANK YOU CARMAX AND EVERYONE THAT WE DEALT WITH WAS VERY HELPFUL

I would recommend against buying from Carmax. We paid $700 to get a car transferred. Nothing happened for 3 weeks with it. Now we have cancelled and are left scrambling to find a car for an upcoming road trip. We've bought 5 cars through carmax, the quality has steadily declined. It's disappointing that a $50k purchase is met with so much apathy from the seller

I found a car that I wanted on the Carmax website. I paid $1,000 to have it delivered to my city from out of state. I wanted to do a trade-in so I went through the Carmax online appraisal process and received an offer for my current vehicle. After receiving an email saying my car had arrived at a Carmax in my city and was ready to come test drive, I scheduled an appointment to come do so. While at Carmax, they experienced many “system glitches” and needed to re-enter my info several times. After being in there for over 2 hours, I asked to see the car I ordered while they tried to get the system to work and noticed a feature was missing, the panoramic sunroof. This was one of the features I was looking forward to the most so I was pretty disappointed. After speaking with a manager, they said that since Carmax has a no haggle price policy, they could not reduce the price of the car to compensate me for it not having this feature. They could only refund me for the transfer fee I initially paid. That was a nice gesture but I would have expected a bit more, since I spent 3 hours of my work day sitting in their store to purchase a car that I didn’t order. My wife and I have purchased several cars through Carmax. Needless to say, I won’t be using Carmax going forward.

I went through the whole process of buying a car through the Salem store (having a car transferred down, having my current vehicle appraised, and sitting down to figure out financing/warranties) to be told at the end of checkout that unlike other dealers, Carmax doesn’t participate in the 4K instant credit for used EV’s under 25k and pushes the responsibility onto the customer to get it back as a Tax credit.
Highly disappointed that the 3 sales associates that we interacted with on different days didn’t warn us of this after telling each one the story of why we were interested in this particular car and that it fit our budget perfectly after calculating the 4K off.
As more used EV’s qualify for this discount sales associates need to be educated to forewarn customers of this decision by corporate. Many buyers in this segment/budget anticipate that 4K off at checkout and will be highly dissatisfied at the end of the process that the car no longer fits their budget.
Being told that I need to figure it out with my taxes next year doesn’t align with Carmax’s purpose of being an easy, hassle free way of buying/selling a car when other dealers do participate in this program that became active in the beginning of 2024.

Carmax made selling my car fast and easy. I started the process online, took the vehicle to be looked over, signed and was on my way. I think the in person process was about 30-45 min. Fast and friendly.

I had a very stress free experience finding & purchasing my car at CarMax. I like the company's ethos of both staff and client support. Every representative I had contact with was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, listened well and answered my questions.

I really like the ability to reserve a vehicle so I don’t feel pressured to get there as fast as possible.
An after-sale issue was addressed quickly.
Short distance shipping was free.
An error in the listing was resolved satisfactorily.

Sold an excess vehicle back to Carmax. Received a fair price and eliminated hours of paperwork. It was the fifth purchase from this company and won’t be the last.

People were great. No haggling. Truck was as advertised and test drive program allowed me to confirm it was the right rig. For a guy who doesn't really like car sales people it was easy no hassle experience. I didn't hear the word undercoat at all.

Carmax was amazing to work with from start to finish. We had a minor issue (no fault of theirs) that needed repaired 2 weeks after the purchase of our vehicle and they completely took care of it with very little hassle on our side. I would absolutely buy from them again!
