Our pets have been patients of Dr. Poet for 20 years. She and her staff have been so good to them. Right now, we are dealing with an old dog and I am grateful for her care and advice.

After just moving to the area and having worked in vet med- it was really important for me to find a caring Vet and team to be able to trust. Whether for annual exams or urgent matters I needed to feel confident in the level of care I would be receiving. I scheduled an exam to get one of my dogs established, and couldn’t have had a better experience. Dr. Poet took her time and made a genuine effort to connect with me and my pup.
I also unfortunately had to make an urgent same day appointment for a very sick chicken that needed help transitioning. I was met with care and felt that even though she was “just a chicken”, relieving her suffering mattered.
I feel confident that I landed on a compassionate and caring Doctor that I can trust with my family going forward, and can’t be more thankful.

So unprofessional. It is really disappointing because I used to love going to Highland Veterinary Hospital, I am not sure what changed.
One thing after another kept happening during our visits. The vet tech complained to me the whole time about other client's pets, and said that a lot of times they just need to be "put in their place". That is definitely not the attitude I want someone to have who will be around my dog without me there, especially when she was speaking about dogs who were clearly just stressed out about their vet visit. Also, makes you wonder what she is saying about your pet to others, which is so unprofessional in any setting to be gossiping about other clients to a current client. I couldn't believe it.
She also put my 10 week old puppy up on the exam table, and when she almost toddled off said "Wow, I thought Australian Shepherds were supposed to be smart."
I was asked by the vet if keeping my Australian Shepherds tail "was a choice". She said a lot of negative things about my dog and made lots of assumptions of where she came from. It seemed like she already had her mind made up coming into the room on both of us. I want a vet that feels like they care about me and my pet. Overall I felt brushed off and could not wait to get out of there.
To top it off, when I called back to politely let them know I would be canceling a future appointment and seeing a different vet, I was hung up on.
I have never been so upset after a vet visit. I would not recommend for anyone who's pet needs more reassurance at the vet, or anyone who has a puppy that they are wanting to give good experiences to at the vet.

We have been a client here for a while now and love them however today was a truly amazing experience. I called this morning with a very strange request. I asked if they would be willing to see my daughter’s slinky dog toy! Strange I know but my 8 year old daughter has special needs and has been begging me to take her slinky dog to the vet. Today she had a dentist appointment so we made a deal she would let the dentist look at her teeth and I would make an appointment for slinky dog at the vet. They agreed without any hesitation. When we arrived they had even created a chart for slinky dog and they took him back for a quick exam! My daughter was thrilled! They didn’t have to help me out or give attention to a stuffed dog but they did and it meant the world to one little girl.

We've lived here about eight years, there is nowhere else we will ever take our animals. Dr Poet has a remarkable amount of compassion and speaks in plain terms. We easily got another two good years with our little Doxy. Easily the same with our elderly Tabby cat. When it was time, she was wonderful and compassionate. We're nearing the end with our older tuxedo cat. They understand the tough choices people have to make as pet parents. When we brought our new kitten home, she told us what to do to keep everyone safe (other felines). She and her staff are unquestionably the best veterinary staff we've ever used.

I went here before, and this is where I go, when my friends are in trouble, the staff at Highland Veterinary hospital in Redmond, Oregon are very knowledgeable, and they have a high level of empathy.

I love this clinic! We had a pregnant cat and wanted to know how far along she was and she was right on the dot. Very helpful and compassionate staff! Dr. Poet is an amazing vet doc and very caring! Though we lost 3 kitties due to stillborn and one not being able to thrive, we have one healthy kitty who is now a little chunk we call Oreo!

my dog doesn't have the best track record with vets. she was previously diagnosed with anxiety and I was told she would need to be basically sedated in order to visit a vet. Dr. Poet and her staff were able to examine my little girl and even do a blood panel with no problem. they didn't even need to cage her during the time I was gone from the office until my return. I'm very happy with how they treated my dog and how my dog felt while being in their care. I hope to have them as my new vet.
