We recently bought a used 2020 Honda Civic Sport MT from Subaru of Portland and have been having issues with the vehicle. I have been in contact with Ted Schreiber, the used car sales manager, and he's been attempting to help us figure out what's wrong with the car. He appears to be helping on the surface, but we have not been able to get the car fixed in an appropriate time frame or to our satisfaction. After our purchase, the car was taken to Kendall Honda of Eugene for a warranty seat belt repair and I stated that I'm having issues with the car shifting roughly and noise coming from the clutch pedal. This service tech suggested that the clutch is worn out at 43k miles, which seems to be premature. After discussing this issue with the service advisor, Ian, he dug into the service paperwork on this vehicle. He noticed something odd, that a recovery specialist did a multi-point inspection on this vehicle before we purchased it. He was inclined to think that this vehicle has had a prior repossession history that was not disclosed to us when purchasing the vehicle. He also hinted that it may have been driven poorly, which has led to the transmission issues. This information was not disclosed by Subaru of Portland and has been viewed as "hearsay" by the Sales Manager, Ted.I've included copies of the correspondence with Ted via email, we've also spoken on the phone numerous times about these issues. The car was then diagnosed by the service department at Subaru of Portland and was deemed "inconclusive" even though one of the techs stated they did have familiarity of the issue with our car. Claiming that they cannot properly diagnose the issue, without a proper Honda technician or specialty tools, and it was supposedly sent to a local Honda service department. I have no paperwork on that diagnostic, but again we were told nothing is wrong with the vehicle. I've explained multiple times the issues we are having, only to be shrugged off like our issue doesn't seem to be valid. We are very frustrated with how this has been handled by the sales and service team and Subaru of Portland and feel that we have wasted our time and money by choosing to make a purchase with this dealership. We are unsatisfied with the drivability of the car and we have been instructed to "keep driving it" while they look for another similar option. We would end up losing money on this vehicle, should we trade it back into this dealer. This is not a satisfactory outcome and feel that we've been treated unfairly and duped into buying a car that had underlying issues with the clutch or transmission.Furthermore, the General Manager told us that he legally disclosed all information that was necessary and did more than they should to help us. Ultimately, leaving us on our own to deal with the issues. Worst car buying experience we've ever had and will never return to any affiliated dealership.

Just bought a car from Valerie Solid at Subaru of Portland. She did a great job, finding a car that worked for me and for my budget. I felt like she really listened to what I wanted and needed. Texted me one morning to say she felt she had found the car for me and she was right! She and Keith Mayers worked together and made the process pretty simple. Thanks again, Valerie!

My family had a great experience buying our car with Michael Earl. Super nice sales team and I really left feeling like I had the car I came to buy for the price I expected to pay. It's been a month and I had to bring my new car in to the shop to repair a tire (got a flat on the freeway) they repaired the tire for free. We recently tried their dog washing station too. What a great experience!

Great dealership. Bought a crosstrek through Michael Earl here. Michael was an awesome salesman. Zero pushiness, totally let me go at my own pace, gave me multiple test drives that covered more time and distance than any other dealer i tried. Had plenty of time to sit with the car and really get a feel for it. Dealership itself is very chill and cozy. Michael threw in a free "Chewbaru" for my dog. Great experience and happy with my car. Looking forward to coming back here for maintenance. Nice folks.

If you are looking for a waiting room that lives up to its name, go here. Almost nobody works in the service department, and those desks that are staffed are likely to have "@ lunch" or "in training" posted on them. About half of the remaining ones -- presumably where non-trainees aren't eating lunch -- are staffed by people who assiduously avoid customers' gaze and don't seem interested in checking anybody in.Come hoping for a car repair, leave having had an extreme exercise in patience.

I just purchased a '24 Crosstrek from Subaru of Portland and couldn't be happier. Papa was my salesperson and he was absolutely incredible! He has continued to be helpful with any questions/issues I have and I appreciate how kind and informative he was throughout the entire process.

Just bought my very first car after 23 years of using public transit. I was so nervous about what to look out for when working with “car salesmen,” but Papa was a genuine person who got me exactly what I wanted! He made me feel so comfortable, didn’t promise things he couldn’t offer, showed me where all the information was coming from, answered all my questions, and made sure that I wasn’t confused or doubtful about ANYTHING. He even recommended his favorite Persian/Iranian restaurants once I said “YES” to a car and payment terms that worked for me. After that, Jarrod was extremely patient explaining everything that went along with the financing. I was at the dealership for a few hours, but I never felt uncomfortable, or that I was being taken advantage of, and I left VERY happy. If you need a car, DEFINITELY go to Subaru of Portland!!

This comment does NOT pertain to the above dealership. It does NOT pertain to a Subaru dealership anywhere. It reflect an experience I had at another dealer who shall not be named (yet). I wanted to see if anyone else thinks this is a shady tactic, and I just needed some place to post this. Again: NOT SUBARU RELATED.I negotiated over the web with a dealer on a price for a new car. They sent me a quote that seemed to show that they were taking the msrp and deducting about $1k from that price as a promo discount. I thought, gee that's pretty cool. The rest of the quote appeared normal and the bottom line was pretty competitive so I accepted it.About an hour later, I got a call from them. They guy said that the quote he sent me was incorrect, as they had "somehow mistakenly deducted the $1k twice from the bid" and it was some kind of "computer glitch". Long and short, the bid I originally accepted has now gone up by about a grand. At first I thought, ok, I guess that could happen. Then I had a closer look at the bid. It showed the MSRP line, then a line showing "promo discount" -$1,000, then yet another line showing -$1000 again, this time labeled something else. But I did the math on all these numbers. Turns out, the 2nd $1000 "discount" wasn't included in the bottom line - it was as if it had just been edited onto the document in order to maybe substantiate the story of "accidental double discount". But now my car was costing me an extra grand. The more I think of it, the more I believe this may well have been a scam they pull on their customers to "accidentally" steal another grand on the sale.Anyone else have an experience like this? Please send comments to me at

Very friendly and helpful team. Papa helped me find exactly what I was looking for. He had a very genuine and no gimmick attitude which I appreciated. He took the time to ask the questions to figure out exactly what I needed and wanted, I didn’t feel pressured or pushed.I’m happy with my new Subaru! Thank you team!

*Please note, all the good reviews are people that just bought their car* Mine is the trouble that came along after buying it.Here’s why I’m leaving a 1 star review, if I could leave 0 that would be preferred because I will never refer anyone to Subaru of Portland, I’ll tell them to stay far away. For starters, they sold me warranty and when the time came for me to use it they told me I couldn’t because of the modified parts that they sold it to me with - why sell me the warranty to begin with? The car I was sold had issue after issue, to the point that the shop I was taking it to told me to sell it ASAP or hope I have deep pockets because this car was going to be expensive to fix all of the issues. So I couldn’t relay on. Keep in mind, I only had the car for roughly 1.5 - 2 years and downed over 10k work of repairs into it. I went back and forth with the service department for months, finally Ted had me bring the car in and had his team “fix” it.It was a band-aid for so many other issues. What should I of expected? They did “free” work when they didn’t want to.In the long run, I sold the car.BUT, there’s more!! I’m expecting money back from my warranty I didn’t use right? Right. I was told by a lady Miriam who handles warranty through Subaru that she will turn my paperwork in to the warranty company and I should receive a check in about 4-6 weeks. Well, that was on August 21st. It’s going on 11 weeks now. I called in last week to see what’s going on, they have no record on which specific warranty they signed me up for and Miriam is out of the office. I asked them to leave a message for me and I sent a follow up email for documentation. Guess what? No one has returned my calls or email.I have been drug around by this company for 2 years now, there is nothing I want more than to receive my check and be done. It’s been a nightmare, headache and overall the WORST experience I have ever had with a dealership. You want a reliable, honest company that will take care of you? Go to Toyota.

Evil. The part department Marked up a rubber gasket 200% over MSRP. I could buy online for 60% below msrp. Subaru america needs to get these over priced parts departments in line.

Papa Safari helped me with getting an Outback. No pressure. He knew the differences in trim levels. Once I purchased the Outback, he spent about 40 minutes in the after sales consultation. The Finance person also was helpful, and forgive me if I forgot his name. Great experience at Subaru of Portland, and there was no wasted time. The process was quick and efficient. Unlike the other Subaru dealer, Papa helped me right away, but he didn't call me every 4 hours to try and get me to buy something I wasn't ready for. I'm glad I worked with him.

Day 1, daughter found a car she liked and drove an hour there for a test drive with Papa K.S. Spoke to Sean on the phone a number of times to inquire. Very nice and helpful! Day 2, drove back up there and Michael E. was able to help more and we started the process. Very wonderful to deal with! Miriam sealed the deal with the final documents and off we went. About a 3 hour process but was very pleasant otherwise. We've looked from Vancouver, to Medford and even to Idaho for the right car and the right people to do business with. Besides this purchase, I have purchased 3 new vehicles in the last 7 years, and Subaru of Portland by FAR exceeded in customer service! Many dealers try and stick it to ya and I've walked away from MANY over the last 7 years, and many in the last month. These guys are so nice and made everything easy. My daughter now has a new, safe vehicle and this was by far the best dealership experience I've ever had, hands down. I HIGHLY recommend them if you're looking for a Subaru! Excellent team and just a really nice crew there overall!

So happy with our new Cross Trek! Thanks Papa for helping us through the process. It was the fastest, most pain-free car buying experience we've ever had. Already looking forward to our next Subaru.
