I went for a form to be notarized. (we have been banking with them for over 15 years). However the notary public refused to notarize it, even though they had notarized the same form many times before, because of an ill-interpreted technicality. So I had to go to UPS; they had (of course) no problem notarizing it.

I've had Columbia bank for 10 years and never had a single problem with them. They switched over to umpaqua bank. This bank plays games and won't let me deposit a good check. Terrible and impersonal service.

This bank freezes my debit card everytime I make a large purchase even from reputable vendors like Ebay, absolutely ridiculous and have been put into some incredibly awkward and embarrassing moments, even worse is, I have to contact them in order to figure out why my card isn't working, I would not recommend.

Used to have lots of friendly staff who would greet me by name. Moved and stopped goin for a few weeks and after coming back the mood completely changed. No nice greetings no conversation while checking out, just akward silence and almost an annoyed feeling from staff most times i go in.

They play little games with people's monies they have these people that sit in the back that refuse to see customers would make decisions about their accounts. They stole my money and I want it back.

Just a great experience and great friendly people. I had an initial hiccup with them which was probably more of my fault and they went out of their way to fix it. Best bank I've ever used in Oregon!

I love the people that work for Umpqua Bank. Once you actually try to use them as a bank, you'll pull your hair out. I've been with them for 10 years and am beginning to question my sanity for dealing with their bad service for so long.The leadership at the bank does not care about you. They don't want to talk to you. There is no way on their own platform to contact support.The only reason this bank has any sort of business is they have good graphic design and multiple locations in the Portland area.

Hands down one of best Umpqua Banks in the portland metro area. It's so much more convenient now thats it's located on Hancock st. The staff is always great especially Brian and Taylor who have both been extremely helpful assisting me with business related issues and questions. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Very very nice people however I opened my account online one month ago , funded it, set up direct deposit and payments for my car etc, but still have not received a debit card. Called numerous times, supposedly am having another one sent to me and that was two weeks ago and still no debit card. When I call they just keep saying it takes between 5 and 7 business days.

Two of many reasons why Umpqua is so much better than Wells Fargo. WF did away with their coin counting machines, now customers need to package coins and write the account number on each rolled coin wrapper. I get it: some brainchild calculates the maintenance of those machines and the time spent using them (about three minutes per transaction) and made a business case to ax the service. These are retention tools like safe deposit boxes, they are not money makers per se. Customers at the WF Hollywood location have left because of this. Umpqua: sure bring in your coin (they didn't even check for ID.). Oh, and while you wait enjoy some complimentary premium Smith tea or coffee. Wells Fargo: Long line, open teller windows, and some d*** a** in a suit greeting people as they stand in the queue. How about getting a cash drawer and opening a window? Umpqua: rarely a wait.

I am so happy with my personal accounts here and I enjoy going into this branch, where the staff is super friendly, knows my name, and always has a treat for my dog. I've actually never had such a nice time going into the bank! So it's extra disappointing that I have never had a worse experience than I have had with my business account. There are SO many issues. Their business banking is run by a third party company, and there is zero interface between my business and personal accounts, super inconvenient. If you need help with your business online banking they cannot help you at the branch, and the call center is h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e. I'm on hold for 20+ minutes every single time, and given all the problems with my online banking this is very, very frequent. Once you get through, the people at the call center are nice enough but are seemingly unable to get anything done. When I needed to add an account so that I could transfer money between accounts, they could not set it up over the phone, I had to send a written request to another department that did not have a call center (!), wait over 3 weeks and call back 3 times, and each time I was told a different story. They will all of a sudden say I am not the administrator of my own account, or lock me out for no reason, things like that, hours and hours on the phone. Everything, even the simplest tasks - have been convoluted, difficult, and frustrating. And this is not a complaint about one time. It is constant, and it is just as ridiculous every single time. I have had 2 accountants who commented on how crazy difficult their online interface was, and they work with all kinds of banking websites! If all you need is personal checking, savings etc, this bank is an excellent choice because that side of things is run locally and the folks are great here and the apps and everything for personal accounts are solid. So I really want to give more stars. But if you run a business I have to not recommend them, it's like running another small business trying to manage my business accounts here. Umpqua if you are listening please get rid of that 3rd party company that runs your business accounts! They are giving you a bad name when you are otherwise really good.
