Such a lovely grocery store with actual community integrity. There is a focus on reusing containers, sharing extra with the community, and providing quality products. The values of the store also make me feel especially safe. Highly recommend.

I moved to Portland about a year ago and have made this shop a weekly destination! I love it here! They have a great selection of spices, teas and home care products - I won’t use anything else to clean my space but their concentrated multi-purpose cleaner. Their bulk incense from Sea Witch Botanicals is also such a great deal. The staff is always so kind and the shop is spotless. Thanks!!

I happened upon this store and decided to look through it. The inventory is very limited. The person working there told me they are adding more items and would note my request on their list. Fun concept to have a wish list at a grocery store. Doesn't help much though in reality. It was also weird that though the concept is supposed to be containerless quite a few things have containers? There's a whole shelf of stuff like chili oil and candles in containers which left me confused about their selection criteria.
I'd already checked out when I saw multiple papers on the counter that were extremely skewed in their views of the situation in Palestine. If you look back at other reviews there are multiple from people who are likely Jewish and probably felt unsafe when they saw them. Here is a photo as an example of one. I saw this the day after the FBI released new stats showing a jump of 63% in antisemitic hate crime in the US. A store like this should care about making their customers of all religions and ethnicities feel safe. I expect they will likely reply since they have to the other reviews and perhaps make a comment about kids in Palestine like they did to another reviewer, or something similar. So I will close this review with a quote from the recent Democratic National Convention: "In a competition of pain, there are no winners." Those who care, therefore, should care for all and recognize their impact on minority communities especially. Jews are only 2% of the world population and yet constantly need to be on the defense.

In a world where shopping for food feels overwhelming and there is often a deep disconnect between people and what they eat, Realm is a beacon of hope! Ryan and Brit are not only incredible people, but inspiring community organizers. They truly walk the walk. I recently moved to the Oregon Coast and the store I miss the most in Portland is Realm Refillery - every community needs one and I’m so happy for how far they have come since opening and I look forward to supporting them every time I’m in town!

I love my local zero waste grocery store. I love the location and product selection. I love that they have so many different items: snacks, pasta, beans, baking supplies, tea, produce, baked goods, laundry supplies, home cleaning, makeup, and other personal care products.
The customer service is always impeccable. Every person that works there is so friendly and passionate about the store and products. Many employees love cooking and are passionate about food and recipes.
I love shopping at a store that firmly believes in supporting their community and social activism. I’m so happy to have this store in my neighborhood!

For a small business that focuses on being sustainable & waste free (or realistically, waste-free adjacent), they have quite a lot of options in stock! Dry goods including spices & herbs, liquids, various household products, skin care, even a bit of produce. They are publicly against genocide and all atrocities & human rights abuses - something that sadly, is not common. (Oh and standing against an apartheid state/ethnic cleansing does not equate to antisemitism no matter how hard you may try to bend the truth). They are awesome! ?❤️

Very very expensive. Filled a gallon for laundry detergent and paid $53 (!!). They have great stuff and it’s a pleasant store but clearly only the wealthy can shop green.

I do my grocery shopping here whenever I'm in the neighborhood. Great produce selection, great bulk selection, lots of amazing local makers selling their goods through this store. They even have a freezer with package free vegan ice cream in it. Super friendly and helpful staff; they're always willing to walk you through the process of the store and they know most of the PLU's off the top of their head. It's clean and they always are playing good music.

I live in the neighborhood and shop at Realm often. My favorite items are the tabor bread (if they don’t have any on the shelf, they usually have a loaf frozen, so be sure to ask), the locally made tofu, the small farm produce, the divinely scented laundry detergent (that is concentrated and lasts a long time), their pantry items like sea salt and baking soda, and their cravable zen snack mix. I love being able to bring my own jars, save the planet from more disposable packaging, and spend my money hyper-local. I’m so happy to have them a walk away!!!

I moved to this neighborhood a few months ago and stumbled upon this place. Absolutely wonderful spot, with a great selection of herbs and tea. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The space is quite small, so you probably won't be able to get everything you could possibly need, but you can also get some things that are difficult to find at your tropical grocery store. Plus, you can bring in your own containers to use or nab some donated, reusable containers (I believe for free, but don't quote me on that)! 11/10, am recommending

The realm is hands down my favorite grocery store to shop in! The produce that is available always tastes so much better than anything you could find in a chain grocery store, not to even mention how much more affordable everything is and how good it feels to shop here knowing your dollar is supporting local farmers, a small business, and an environmentally conscious business too! It’s so great to have somewhere to shop where I can refill my fridge, pantry, and cleaning products in the same place. I love the way the realm really feels like a community, sometimes you’ll stumble across a local artist they’re hosting, or find out about a wonderful charity to donate to. I also really appreciate how calm the store is; the lighting isn’t super bright, and the smaller store size makes it so much less stressful to shop in. Overall, it can be a tiny shift in lifestyle to get all your groceries here (if you eat meat, you’ll need to make a quick second stop) but the quality of food in addition to being able to follow a tight budget if necessary is more than worth it!
