We contacted SNW to buy some siding for our house and to find out what they had in stock. We live in the Columbia River Gorge, so driving into Portland is a big commitment (time and money) that comes with renting a U-Haul to haul the siding home. When we arrived, Jake, the employee we had contacted, showed us a sad pile with quite a few scrappy-looking, picked-through pieces piled in a mismanaged heap. We discussed again how much was needed for our job, and he said the computer said there should be enough, not very encouraging. However, it would be a 6-8 week wait if we needed anything extra, which we surely would. We left with nothing, no thanks to Jake trying to sell us on literally any other product (he didn't try), only a hefty bill from U-Haul and disappointment. I guess we were just small potatoes to them, and it showed.

Lynn answered all my questions about the differences in cedar and juniper also gave recommendations on a pigmented sealer over a clear to preserve the character of the wood looking forward to posting my project’s completion images here. Thank you!!

We came here for a "Maker's Market" a few nights ago. Great atmosphere, maybe 20 vendors displaying all manners of wood creations. And that which wasn't a "maker" - obviously the items Sustainable NW Wood promotes - were quite impressive. As I'm not a woodworker but more of a consumer, I might not return unless there's another similar market event but that's no reason to downvote the host.All in all, a pleasant experience.

Quality material at very reasonable prices. I am especially impressed by the availability of species you rarely see elsewhere: madrone, Oregon white oak, juniper, big leaf maple, and tanbark oak, among others. We live in the middle of these beautiful wood species - why are they not on every woodworker's bench? This is where to find them!
