We have used many moving companies prior to this experience. This was the bar the absolute WORST EXPERIENCE we have ever had. They were contracted by the hospital we got hired at to move our things.
First, we had a date for movers to pick up our things set for months. The week before, they called and said they were confirming for a DIFFERENT day (even though I’d taken off work for the move) because of availability. They said they couldn’t do anything about it.
Then they gave us a delivery window and told us to call with our address when we got it. We did and said a date within the window that worked. No where in the paperwork or during our conversations did they say the delivery window is an entire period we would have ti be available for because the things may arrive at any time. We were not going to be in our new location right away so they were going to charge us $2800 dollars for storing our things for THREE days. So we bent over backwards to get into the place early and pay extra rent then arrange for someone to be at the house for delivery.
Day of packing, 2 of 4 crew members show up and don’t finish loading until 5:30 PM when we were originally told a few hours.
Day of item arrival, they said they’d show up at at 10am. They did not arrive until 12. At that time, they said the truck wouldn’t fit down the street, so they had to find another truck to load and bring to the house. That took hours. Then they took our stuff into the house and due to the delay, they didn’t put anything where we’d instructed.
We had several items broken, one of which is a computer and says they will not replace it because “electronics are expected to break during delivery”
The customer service has been the worst we’ve ever dealt with. They have been overall rude, unhelpful and only concerned with their name rather than our experience. We had less stress moving our things overseas than this experience. I wouldn’t recommend this moving company to my worst enemy. We will absolutely be reporting this to the hospital and recommending they move on from their contract with these movers.

Great crew that handled our delivery. We moved our own stuff cross country but asked Suddath if they could help with the delivery down to our floating home!! The two guys did the job in under 3 hours, no wasted steps. Thank you, would use again and would recommend.

Suddath moved my Aunt and did an exceptional job, so we hired them again when she needed to move a second time. They sent out a fantastic crew to pack and load it all in record time, and did not break or damage any of her furniture. I will be calling back for my next move!

Theft!Used this company as my new job offered them as new hire moving expense option. Always handled my own moves, it was my first time using professional movers. As always, moving out of state with a house full of stuff and a family to a new job is a mess.Found out some months later that collectible sports cards I've had since the 80s were missing from a sports tin. Nothing crazy valuable, a jerry rice rookie and sanders rookies but they were sentimental. Can I prove they were stolen? In everything sense but hard evidence as I didn't list those items on the valuable list. Also, driver suggested I don't insist on inventory for all my items to "save time". Big mistake.I've kept this items in a small sports tin that screams open me if your an opportunist looking for easy pickins to pocket. By the time you realize something is gone, it's past the 90 window to make a claim. You cant even email the sales representative contact that you booked with, email will bounce back. My advice? No matter who you pick, inventory all items, handle valuable including sentimental items yourself, insist they follow all procedures, read the fine print and treat the movers as hired strangers that don't not have your interest as heart. Learn from my mistakes and protect yourself.

We were quoted $20,000 for a relocation from Kansas City to Portland. It was technically a $25,000 quote, but we received a $5,000 "discount" through my wife's employer. Every other company that we bid our relocation out to charged less than $10,000 for the exact same scope of work. We ended up getting everything done for a bit over $7,500 through a different company. I honestly don't understand how Suddath was coming up with their numbers, especially given the fact that *all* of their competitors that we contacted were half or less.EDIT In response to Suddath's response to my review: I would like to point out that the scope of work given to each relocation company was EXACTLY the same. They all came in at $10,000 or less. It is hardly my fault if your sales person misidentified a variable and charged such an excessive price. To me, it sounds like a training opportunity for your sales team. Unfortunately, it seems like you aren't taking it as one.

Suddath was a US partner with a Canadian moving company, Salmons Transfers Ltd. whom we hired for our moving. We had three crew members from Suddath Portland, OR team who came to our apartment right on time on the moving date: Damien, Ivan, and Carlos. All three of them were very professional from the time they walked into the unit, had clear communication and walked us through their packing style. We have Ikea stuff which requires lot of assembling and disassembling, I think they were so precise in disassembling our king bed, couches and wardrobe and packed every single nut and bolt tight that not a single item was missed or lost. Damien told us about their procedure of packing, how they will arrange for transfer from US to Canada, he had a checklist of everything that was packed and would list them with serial numbers while Ivan and Carlos packed every item so carefully, used multiple wrapping papers and strong packing boxes that can sustain multiple weather. After each box is packed, they would confirm with us and mark the boxes with headers so that it's easy to recognize the boxes for unpacking. The price quote I was given by Canadian company was in total including Suddath services. When we unpacked all our stuff in Canada, not a single item was broken or chipped or had any kind of damages despite our stuff being in warehouse for almost 18 months. Couldn't have hired any better moving services and team. I'd highly recommend these three crew members in Portland, OR area for moving!

Too many homeless camper and RVs around the location. Has had multiple fires, and police responses to the area. Not safe at all.

I moved from SW Washington to Eastern Tennessee and had a wonderful experience. Items were all packed very well and everything made it undamaged. Both the pick up crew and drop off crew worked fast and hard leaving no damage to either property. Communication with Suddath was easy and consistent, emails provided useful information to help the move go smoothly. I would absolutely use Suddath again in the future for relocation.

Used Suddath through an employee relocation move. Teresa got us set up with everything and was amazing to work with. Alex, Gabriel, and Tony packed, moved and unloaded for us and they were so efficient and friendly. Had a really great experience with the Portland, OR location!

Military move: It took 45 days to move our house hold good from California to Maryland. No show delivery on a Sunday and there was nobody to call. Our items arrived 2 weeks late and nobody seemed to care or attempt to track down the driver. We were told 4 different dates and when the driver finally showed up he was 4 hours late. We also had another person's items mixed in with ours. Hopefully it got back to the right owner. We scheduled two days for our pack out. They worked the first morning, then came back the next afternoon and packed until 8pm--very inconvenient.

Picked up my belongings in Portland over a month ago. They committed to deliver no later than two weeks ago. Nothing has been delivered and they will not commit to a new window or delivery date. They were the highest bid of the national van lines (contracted through United), as well as the highest estimated weight, which has since proven to be over-estimated, but because their delivery timing was significantly better and that was crucial to our move, I chose them. But now 31 days after picking up my things, nothing has been delivered, and still no timing for delivery of goods, which I believe is unlawful according to DOTs Rights and Responsibilities pamphlet they are required to send.I've been bounced around to various customer service representatives within their parent company (Allegiant, located in MO), and those representatives don't appear to have any means or authority to expedite the agreed-to and contracted services. And their work lacks timelines. A week ago they said they were 'freighting,' due to an inability to secure a truck and a driver, and that this would 'speed things up;' but it's already it's been double the agreed-to-delivery time and based on the lack of information and movement, I have no confidence that a solution is in place that will expedite this move as they still cannot confirm a delivery date. And the worst of it, the paltry compensation they offer does not even come close to covering costs that we are taking on as a result of their inability to fulfill the contract (i.e...move our stuff).Big, big failings...all over the place.
