Very nice, quaint boutique hotel in downtown Portland. Our room was huge (by today's hotel standards) and the staff was wonderful. Very cool place.

I had a fantastic experience at the Sentinel hotel when I stayed. The host Dylan was extremely welcoming and accommodating. The room was immaculate and extremely comfortable, and the valet service was on point. They even had our car ready out front for us without even needing to be asked. Will definitely be keeping the Sentinel in mind whenever traveling to Portland.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!! Not sure what the bad reviewers were on but I had a great time here.
Check-in: so easy and the front desk people are always so nice! The lobby smell so good in my opinion and I love the decorations!
Customer service: A++ they were super helpful! I had an incident with one of my DoorDasher not deliver food to my room and the staff helped me track down my food and deliver it to my room. I’m very serious about my food and especially when I’m hangry so I will never forget you guys for doing that for me <3
Room: the room is clean and cozy. My bed is very comfy and clean. I appreciate the fact that there’s music playing in the room when I first walked in it’s so cool and little things like this made the experience even better! There’s a coffee maker, electric kettle, with free coffee and tea which I super appreciate! They also restocked after every room service too.
One thing would have made it even better is to have a microwave.
Services: There’s a mini fridge in one of the night stand stocked with drinks. The snacks and drinks are stocked and prices are clear. Although I didn’t purchase any that’s in the room, I really appreciate the options available. Also, I did not get any room service so I can’t comment on that.
Bathroom: clean and have all the essentials you’d need (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, hair dryer, 2 glasses, bar soap, toilet paper, tissues, towels). I always bring my own toothbrush and paste so not complaint.
Closet: has hooks, iron and ironing board, and a safe! Very convenient.
Location: great location in my opinion. Portland itself is already pretty walkable and there’s a lot of public transportation within minutes of walking too. Plenty of food places and I enjoyed my stay here.
Noise: The hotel is quiet and comfortable which is important to me. Note, you can hear slight transportation sound/ honk from the streets sometimes which I’d note if you’re a very light sleeper. I’m not a super slight sleeper and I listen to music when I sleep so I didn’t really care much for it.
Overall, I’d highly recommend Sentinel to anyone coming to visit.

When I booked this hotel it was advertised as 5 star but there is nothing 5 start about this place.Check-in: On arrival the bellhop was great but the guy at the front desk was rude. Bellhop asked the guy at the front desk politely what room I was in so he can take our bags up. The front desk was on a power trip. He refused to give the room number, left in the middle of check out and made the bellhop wait holding our bags. Very awkward exchange and turns out that the valet and bellhop worked for a 3rd party company.Room: Building is old and you could tell by the elevators, hallway and rooms. Rooms were small but nicely furnished.Room Service: The hotel advertised room service so I called multiple times to order but no one picked up so I went downstairs. Front Desk says only thing available is grilled cheese! I was hungry so I ordered it and went back to my room. I find out 45min later they're out of food! I ended up having to DoorDash. To make matters worse, when I went down to get my food I had a confrontation with some drunk guy at the bar in the lobby (adjacent lobby bar turns into a club night).Check-out: I thought things couldn't get worse but it did. I went to get my car from valet and my car was vandalized!!!! Hotel claimed no fault, only offered me to reimburse parking (which they never did) and never apologized.Do yourself a favor and never stay at the Sentinel. I should've stayed at the Nines.Safety: Bar adjacent to lobby turns into a club at night. I got into a confrontation with a drunk guest at the club. Why do I have to deal with this at a supposed 5star hotel?Food & drinks: They advertised room service but they only had grilled cheese and they ran out.Noteworthy details: My car was vandalized when it was in valet. Hotel refused any liability. They said they would refund valet fee but they never did.

The room was comfortable, clean, and quaint with a giant terrace and beautiful views.I really enjoyed my 2 night stay. The staff makes this place amazing. You are always greeted kindly, accommodated, and anytime i asked staff about the area, i was met with friendly smile and lots of info on where to eat, where the park was for my dog, and the best shopping areas. Betty was especially kind and friendly everytime I saw her. She loves her job! And it shows. The front desk/valet is also vedy friendly. This was a much needed restful stay. The hotel is clean and quiet, even when busy.Thank you, if I ever come to Portland again, I will stay here!Rooms: Mine was small with a huge balcony. Clean and quaint. Exactly what I needed.Safety: I walked around at night and you need your key card to access. I felt very safe.Walkability: You can walk and ride public transportation, easily.Noteworthy details: The staff is amazing!

As the owner of Your Perfect Bridesmaid (a local wedding planning company) I have had the good fortune of working with The Sentinel many times over the past 16 years of coordinating weddings. Each time I have admired their beautiful event spaces, outstanding food, and wonderful customer service. Yesterday however completely blew my mind. A quick story: It is the day of Portland's 2024 Snowpocolypse. We had a wedding scheduled to take place about 20 minutes away, but we had the wedding party and their friends and family staying at The Sentinel because they are so amazing to work with. The groom wakes up on his wedding day and decides, "can we just have the wedding here". His goal was to keep the guests from having to go out in the snow. Planning a wedding usually takes months. But thanks to unparalleled service at the Sentinel we completely moved the wedding to the hotel, worked out layouts, a new catering plan - - everything in just an hour. To say that the Sentinel went above and beyond doesn't scratch the surface. They saw someone in need, and the moved mountains to help. You don't see that level of service any more and I am eternally thankful. To the entire team who stepped in (at the very last minute) to give this couple an incredible wedding day - thank you!!

I was recently a guest at the beautiful Sentinel Hotel for one week. The staff were excellent and made me feel very welcome. I was displaced from my home due to the recent storms and my stay at the hotel was very pleasant (and warm!). The room was clean, the king-sized bed was very comfortable and the room service from Jake's Grill downstairs was tasty and prompt. They allow pets and they provided my dogs with a soft & fluffy bed and two toys. I will definitely recommend the Sentinel to anyone who needs lodging downtown.

Stayed here as a birthday present for my boyfriend. The design of the hotel is absolutely beautiful and elegant. We got a king studio suite with a terrace and the room was amazing and the terrace was even better with such a beautiful view. The staff were what really made it for us, they were absolutely incredible and so nice, especially the two gentlemen who delivered our room service at night and morning. All around an amazing experience and will definitely be staying here again!

Lovely looking hotel, very stylish and staff were welcoming. If you visit, make sure not to stay on the 6th floor, especially room 6015. While it's nice and has a great terrace, it's very noisy with a constant drone from the roof top and is also right next to the lift. Could not get a decent night's sleep so ended up leaving really early. A real shame as it ruined our stay.Rooms: Avoid room 6015 and the 6th floor.

They forgot to give us a refrigerator key, a thing I've never seen in any hotel before, so we thought we didn't have a fridge. There were stains on the bed sheets. The in-room fireplace is weak with a thick glass panel in front of it.

We booked the Parlor Suite here for our anniversary night out, we were very excited, and the two people at the front desk were both very nice and professional. We got up to the room, and we're so disappointed to find that the room was filthy, dusty, cobwebs, and stains everywhere, broken blinds... It was really bad, especially for a "4-star" hotel we were paying over $400 for one night at. We went back down to the desk, explained the condition of the room, and explained that we needed to move. Again, the gentleman was very professional and apologetic. He moved us to a different room, and we went up and were immediately greeted with the smell of cigarettes. The cleanliness was better than the first room but was still not good, with stains on the ledges, peeling carpet, dirty bathroom sink. We went back down to the front desk and just explained that we did not want to stay there. We left and ended up going across the street to the Hyatt... booked a beautiful CLEAN king suite.Rooms: Gross.

The location was great and staff was friendly. I booked the terrace suite specifically because I wanted the terrace. Paid for Terrace room - had a leak in it and was transferred to a downgraded room. They comped breakfast for me to make up for it. The terrace room was $500/night. The room I got was $230. I feel this could have been handled better as I did not get the room or value I paid for. Additionally I have been overcharged and not provided my credit from Amex Travel.

Great location, beautiful room, super helpful & friendly front desk, Fortune plant based food is amazing, Domaine Serene wine lounge is accessible from the lobby. Absolutely loved our stay-will be back.
