I adore their designs but the customer service is not great. The staff I've emailed with are kind and polite, but my frustrations are: 1) they offer no working phone number. 2) some items ship quickly but others may take 6-8 weeks to show up even including non-custom items and I've never received an indication of how long to expect the wait to be. 3) I had a frustrating experience recently after Schoolhouse shipped me the wrong item. First, I waited 6 weeks to receive the light fixtures and shades I ordered. They sent 3 large fabric shades instead of the 3 small glass shades I expected. They sent me a return label to ship back the incorrect shades. That's great, but I have a few concerns with this process. --They won't ship the correct ones until they receive the wrong ones back (I get it, they don't want me to hold onto the wrong ones but other places will ship when they get verification that you shipped the item back and just say they'll charge you if they later discover you sent an empty box or something). This will take a while since the return will ship *ground.* --They also only sent one label for 3 boxes, so they'll share 1 tracking number and UPS "wished me luck with that". --This is completely Schoolhouse's error, yet I'm the one who needs to pack up, tape up, label, and drop off 3 large boxes. I had to leave work early, buy more packing tape, and haul the boxes around, and reschedule installation with my handyperson (and wait another who-knows-how-long to get the shades). I think good customer service would be to offer something to make up for this considerable inconvenience, like, I don't know, a credit toward a future purchase or a coupon. Something to acknowledge that my experience hasn't been what I'd expect from any company, much less one that's not cheap. I hope Schoolhouse can sort this out because I really love their stuff!

Bought a couple of lights from them in September. They arrived in December, and one was defective. In the meantime, they closed their showroom, and I'm still trying to deal with a return in March. The only way to communicate with anyone is by email, and you'll be lucky if you get a response within 2 weeks. Feels like this business is on its way out.

The products are nice but I don’t plan to shop there again with their shipping and customer services issues. At least West Elm/Pottery Barn/RH will tell you at the time of purchase if your product is on back order and when to expect it. Then you can make an informed decision when you purchase it. It takes days/weeks to get a response by email and no one answers their phone.

As of March 2, 2024, the Schoolhouse showroom is open by appointment only.Google - Please update the hours for Schoolhouse.Schoolhouse - I don’t know why someone has to tell you this, but please update your website to reflect the fact that your showroom is now open by appointment only. Several customers, including me, stood outside your closed showroom in disbelief today. I wasted an hour of my day driving to a closed showroom because you didn’t think to update your website.

Used to be rad. Now even their dinkiest tabletop lamps won’t show up for months after you order them, despite no such warnings during the purchase process. Don’t bother! World Market sells the same thing and you can save yourself 8 weeks.

Garbage company with terrible customer support. I ordered several items and was charged immediately but they are still “getting ready for shipment” after 2 months. I understand delays but have the professionalism to provide a phone number so customers who have been waiting can speak to an actual human and not just an AI Bot customer service message platform “promising to get back with an update”. I can’t even get to speak to someone to cancel and refund my order. Seems pretty criminal to me. Wish I lived in Portland so I could at least find the store to try to get some assistance.

Product is mediocre, customer service is non-existent. You will wait months for items listed as “in stock” and be disappointed.

Horrible customer service. Zero responses to urgent questions I sent, no one picks up the phone. Does anyone even work here? thought this was a good company but I don't think I'll ever buy here again.

I worked for Schoolhouse. This company has a habit of selling products they don't actually have (over selling). I helped paint hundreds of their light fixtures that would be weeks behind schedule no matter how many hours me and the other employees worked due to this. If you buy something from them expect to wait many times longer than they say. Edit: If you request a refund, expect to fight for it, and wait a long time to do so.As an employer they are also below standard. They instructed me to operate an industrial sand blaser with no training, I had to ask other employees how it worked. During my time using it I realized the way they instructed you connect the ground wire to dissipate static electricity in the parts you sand actually shocks your hand and arms. Think weak taser hits to your hand for 8 hrs a day. When I connected it correctly to ground through the provided wire instead of me, I was told to go back to the old method, when I refused I was fired the same day. The manager didn't like having "static electricity" and "grounding" explained to him. As I write this, the other employees are probably still electrocuting themselves with static for the entirety of every shift and stay quiet about it to avoid this retaliatory management.

It pains me to leave a review like this because I love the products this company has and have purchased a few things from them over the years. Heed the recent reviews... I don't know what happened but customer service is sooooo bad now. You cannot get in touch with a real person and they took 3 weeks to respond to my email regarding a completely wrong item that was shipped. They didn't offer any sort of incentive to shop with them again, and I won't be back.

We are still waiting for our order that was in stock and was supposed to be shipped within 3-5 business days. This is delaying our renovation project. Customer service does not provide a phone number, you can only contact by email and they are incredibly slow. Poor customer service experience so far. In addition they overcharged us for shipping, shipping should have been $45 and we were charged $142, we are still waiting for a resolve on this as well.

DO NOT BUY HERE if you value customer service!!!! l ordered an in stock item a month and half ago. I was told twice it was on its way. After multiple phone calls, emails, and messages, I finally learned they were out of stock and my order had been cancelled. They have really gone downhill after they were bought out by a large corporation.

The response time for someone to get back to you is terrible. It’s strange that you can’t reach someone by phone. On the website it doesn’t show accurate lead times as to when something will be shipping. I was told it was arriving by the 19th and tracking is still not showing a date. Which is so frustrating. Not impressed.
