I almost got mugged here while doing instacart. They were out of almost everything and lacked in cleanliness and customer service. Wish I could give it 0 stars. I'm never going to this location again based on safety, besides other things

There are very few products on the shelves, the inside often smells of urine, and there’s constant fights and drug use outside. Go to literally any other grocery store.

what I witnessed here last night OR ANY NIGHT & DAY around 10:00 p.m.7 filthy homeless kids prying open the locked side entrance door passing sandwiches out to there homeless kid friends, all this as no security nor employees attempted to stop them, is anyone managing this store anymore? And the day before thisNEVERENDING mob outside of Safeways outside walk thru Pharmacy,No prescription needed (cash or opiate based products only)*..!And try Safeways convenient personal shopers who will go in and grab what you need for 1\2 price while you wait in the comfort of your car.People like me who still pay are the minority!

Absolutely abysmal customer experience. Most of the time they don't have carts or baskets available to collect your groceries before checkout. And then when you do get to check out, there are only two lanes staffed by humans. Both lanes and the self-checkout area are thus overflowing with people just trying to pay, leaving the whole area an unnavigable disaster. The store layout has been optimized to reduce theft—which means having to walk all the way around the store to access either the inner or outer loops if you forget anything in one section or the other, terrible for anyone with accessibility concerns. Then to top it off there's a cadre of military cosplayers with weapons visible parading as security.

Great customer service. Enough employees to run smoothly most of the time.

Worst Safeway in existence. I’m not talking to anybody until the loading dock stops opening and closing the garage door six times in a row every morning, for no reason! What is the point of constantly opening it at 5:30am everyday when there’s no delivery truck!Day 4: the crew got started at 5:40am again and did not make any effort to limit the noise. At one point, they definitely opened the garage door and then closed it immediately after it reached its peak. What’s the practical purpose of that???Day 5: started at 5:30am again. No trucks, just idiots opening and closing the garage door. Maybe hire competent people…Day 6: The garage door opened and closed, with no deliveries, 8 times this morning from 5:30 - 6am. Must be a real special guy running things in there. The kind of guy who must like shiny coins, pressing buttons, and has an unwavering passion for trains. Figure it out Safeway.

For weeks now, there have been no carts and no hand baskets available when going to Safeway during non-peak hours. Walking around the store, you see maybe a dozen carts total in use. I've been frequenting this location for the past year and a half and it somehow managed to get worse. I assume the increase in homelessness and the sudden disappearance of carts/baskets is not a coincidence. And good luck purchasing simple products like deodorant, laundry detergent, artificial drink mixes, etc. because they're all locked up in the middle of the store. I understand that it's due to theft, but they have a maximum of 2 cashiers covering that area and it creates a huge bottleneck. If this Safeway wasn't the one of the only grocery stores in Downtown (aside from Fred Meyer, which is no peach either), they would've been dead and gone a long time ago. If you're coming here, bring your own cart/basket if you can, otherwise you'll just be holding it all in your arms as you waddle through the store. Simply put, this store is in a terrible area, the management clearly doesn't care about the customers, and the food is overpriced. They've only made it as far as they have because they hold a monopoly on the area. I highly recommend you avoid this location. You're better off foraging for food.

The amount of security guards they have here is overkill and unsettling. They follow you around the store, likely bored with nothing better to do. I stepped outside to pull up a different place to find lunch on my phone after not wanting to stay in a store where I'm being followed around by men playing cop dress up, and less than 60 seconds after leaning against a bike rack outside, a security guard came to harass me and ask what I'm doing there, am I waiting for someone, etc. Place wouldn't be so bad if they didn't hire a gang of wanna be cops to harass customers. I'll shop elsewhere. Hope these folks get a life.To store owner: don't bother replying about how much you care about customer experience and how you'll let leadership know. Looks like that's your MO for fighting bad reviews on here and it's obvious and meaningless. If you actually cared you would have made changes. Based on the bad reviews here, you've been making these hollow comments for years.

Absolutely horrendous. I came in a lil after 11 because my daughter needed medicine, the entire store was filled with homeless people. I know about our state’s epidemic, but I felt very unsafe and grateful I didn’t drag my daughter out with me. I was very uncomfortable with the amount of sketchy characters in the building, obviously not there for anything. I found the store director and let him know how I felt and he was extremely unhelpful and quite frankly didn’t even care, it was like he wasn’t even listening to me. Had this been a normal bottom barrel employee I would understand. However, it wasn’t, it was someone whose attitude reflects on Safeway. I will never being going into this awful, unsafe establishment where management is useless and the environment is unsafe again. I suggest those of you reading this don’t go as well, or at the very least don’t bring your children into this dangerous store.

Happy new Year to all of the incredible team of employees that bravely go into work at the boot camp of Safeways, I have gone to every Safeway in a fifty mile radius. From Milwaukee to Clackamas, Oregon city, Gresham, NW 12th love joy, 8 Safeways in Oregon and there is no Safeway like Safeway on 11th & Jefferson. It's not Safeway at all for the situation we have hadto deal with now an almost unstoppable wave of not even slow decline. 6 yrs ago we had homeless and drug use but right now in time we simply have an epidemic that everyone doesn't want to or just aren't educated about the reality of zylazene. A GENERAL ANETHSTESIA 100% BIO AND GENETICALLY MADE FOR STRICTLY THE BIGGEST ANIMALS FROM ELEPHANTS TO RHINOS, GIRAFFES etc. This means when you shoot an elephant flrom landcruiser in Africa or any wild lands for huge animals. It's a dart with zylazene and the elephant drops and they jump out and do open heart surgery on said elephant. That drug is pure poison to humans. It's destroying everyone who uses meth or phentinal in any way. Some very evil people have full knowledge of what's happening but I lived down here back and forth since the old Safeway got bulldozers over in 30 minutes. For 4rs it was pretty good up here. They got rid of all the negative business and it was good for many years . What the Safeway now you are working at the hardest store and retain there sanity. I would flip my top if some person barks at me to do this or that, they wouldg be unlucky. they have the patience of an actual Saint. Dave, who after many years of him willing to help me everytime with Care and compassion because I am mentally disabled from my ADHD with acute panic disorder and I do things a certain way so I dont have to ask for help at the massively outdated junk they use as self check out. When of waisted time I do I'm desperate at that point. I have to use every coupon I can. Dave is so kind to everyone and never looses his the ability of being a better person. People can be so absolutely cruel to someone they don't even know. So many people just lost the ability to be compassionate. Thank you for everything and everyone you guys help when someone needs it. There is one employee that somehow thinks that the customer is alwayswrong. This same "person also thinks going outside to smoke with the boys so this employee will turn around and actually physically assault verbally and hands on. I can also garuntee this "emplyee" has huge issues . This person knows exactly who I am otherwise I would completely drop there name but I love my Safeway and almost everyone is totally cool. What a joke to even spend the time reviewing this but it's become so ridiculous it's rather sad.

This is the worst grocery store in Multnomah. Rotting produce on the shelves, poor selection, and a horde of homeless junkies begging at both entrances.
