Pros: great gaming facility, well-stocked Cafe, decent entry fee to pay out ratio for tournaments and pre release events
Cons: limited game selection, bad parking
Takeaway: Best balance between price and gaming area in the city combined with exceptional pay out for tournaments makes Red Castle the number one game store overall.

Great game store with lots of fun events. They also have beer, food and lots of snacks. The chicken wrap is really good and so are their tots. Lots of seasonings and sauces to choose from!
My main complaint, and why my rating is 4 stars, is the place ain't cheap. Sealed MTG products (and I'm guessing other tcg games) are consistently priced higher than pretty much any other store in portland. They also charge a $6 entry fee for commander nights. There's a lot of other places in the PDX area that are free to play at. They claim the $6 is to cover the raffles they do throughout the day, but that equates to essentially buying a lottery ticket. Also the stuff they give away are old random promo swag that didn't cost them anything to begin with. On the other hand, their mtg singles selection is decent (although also usually priced on the higher end for the area).
Despite the kinda corporate/greedy feeling, there's always a good group of players here for commander on Tuesdays/Saturdays and the staff are all very welcoming.

This place is such a great vibe. I take my kiddo into many a board game store in town and this one had the most welcoming vibe for parents with small children compared to others. The tables were clean, the staff welcoming, and the game selection was amazing! Prices are comparable to other board game stores in town. Will make this our new place to pick up games and trading cards.

I love this game store so much!! It's hands down the best game store I have ever found and I'm 31. It is phenomenal. The staff is so friendly and they go above and beyond for their customers and community! They have so many games that you can rent, so many to buy, and a ton of tables so you can play whatever you want in store (card games, ttrpg's, and board games)! The food and drinks are amazing, too (they even give you a punch card for drinks and when you fill it out you can get a free drink or set of free dice)!

Edit: I had a problem with one of their web listings, but I appreciate the owner reaching out to me and making things right. I recommend supporting your local game store because they will actually care about your experience while online retailers will not.

Great place to play games. Lighting is good, seating is pretty abundant, and the people working here are friendly. The falafel, fries, and spicy ranch are great too!

When you're selling something would you let the person you're selling too have the product for a week before taking payment?! Even if it's a business? They want to hold my cards for a week to "evaluate" them and see if they can buy them. Makes sense up until you're asking to take them off my hands instead of doing a transaction right at the counter, like most card shops do. Hell, Time vault takes a week or two but they need a card list. Never have they dared to ask me for what I'm selling before they can provide any cash. Yeah it may be after two weeks but at least my cards are safely with me for that time. I wouldn't want that lack of security for my physical from a clearly insecure business and business owner/s. The speedy replies to poor reviews with the corporate jargon shows.

Always a great experience when we go to Red Castle. Everyone is friendly, and helpful. We mostly go for singles and the buy online pick up instore option is fantastic!
