The owner and one man show is such a great guy and is an excellent craftsman from what I’ve seen so far. He helped me with a small last minute heel issue and didn’t even charge me even though I tried to hand him some cash! He just asked me to leave a review and come back with “real” repair jobs. Well, my most loved boots need some work and I hope he can fix the sole that is separating.
I’ll be driving across town and returning on Monday. Fingers crossed my beloved boots aren’t beyond repair.

I took my boots in to have the uppers glued back on to the midsoles. This guy explains that it’s $40 to glue the boots, and that they probably won’t last long. He then suggests that I put the $40 toward a new pair. He could have easily taken my money, but he didn’t. He was actually looking out for the best interests of his customers. Rare these days.

David is THEE bee's knees! I went in with a vintage pair of Red Wings in dire need of restoration (these things were goners) and, per request, David hooked me up with all of the neccessary shoe components and glue to do it myself! He even spent the time to explain the process of doing the repair amidst his busy day. When you meet David, it's easy to tell this man puts alot of love into this work. I'm excited to start on this project and will be back when I have any other shoe needs. Thanks for being here David!

Wanted to give the shoes some wear before reviewing. Vibram sole I got took some breaking in specifically around the heel area. But I just got back from an evening walk in them and thought about how much I liked their new feel after being broken in a bit. These relatively cheap Clark Desert Boots have now lasted 7 years and will likely last at least 10 if not longer I predict based on my realistic usage. So lower overall consumption and get to give business to a great local tradesman. Happy customer! No before picture but the leatherwork really revived the look.

David from Portland Shoe Repair did a really nice thing for me! I have a pair of women’s Born Oxfords that are no longer being made, that I purchased on eBay. They are absolutely the most comfortable shoes I’ve probably ever owned, and I walk a lot in them, so they need periodic repair. They have unique rubber soles, and are not easy to repair. I brought them in once before, and David did a a great job repairing the heel on the them. Since I wear them every day and walk a lot, they needed more rubber added on the heels several months later. One of the shoes had developed a long crack in the front of the sole, and it was a bit out of my price range to fix the heels and the crack. It was not unreasonable a price, but I wanted to see if I could first fill in the crack myself. I left the shoes to have the heels repaired, and when I picked them up - David had also fixed the crack at no extra charge. That was a really nice thing and I’m extremely grateful! David said he had not repaired those types of rubber soles very much and it was a chance for him to feel more adept at working on those kinds of shoes and to use a new type of rubber he had in the shop. That was my understanding. Thanks so much David….you did a great job!
