customer service is great.their truck service is not that great waited in the office for 5 hrs .empty bays to work on their own trucks that the company I work for is renting trucks from them . doesn't look very good if you want to keep your customers happy we rent a lot of trucks from them. even made appointment

This review is specifically with reference to the quality of the customer service, which was basically absent. From the start of the exchange the agent was rude, cold, and seemed to be following a script. The worst possible combination. Their approach was aggressive and pushy. When I explained that I was comparing different price quotes on a truck rental for my move, they did not specifically fire back, but already seemed insistent that I rent something from them (we were barely one minute into a call). When they repeated this approach by telling me "I ought to rent / secure something right now with them because prices go up," I told them just as sharply that they were best not to force customers this way, and hung up. Robots do not get to be pushy and urgent!

Needed a truck with a lift gate and they had one available. They called to confirm the reservation which was good, I needed to drive 500 miles round trip in a day and everything seemed to be in order. When I came to pick up the truck, nobody had checked it before hand and the check engine light was on. I needed the truck immediately and they did not have a replacement. The guy working was apologetic and offered to discount the mileage which I appreciated, but I had to then get all the way to Gresham because they didn't have another truck with a lift, which I needed for moving my milling machines. When I finally got the truck I was already hours behind, but the cherry on top was the next morning when - having spent the previous entire day packing the truck, and ready to get an early start on the move - we noticed the truck had leaked several cups of motor, and it turned out Penske couldn't get anyone out to work on it for over an hour. The tech that came out was helpful and fixed it as quickly as possible, but the fact that TWO TRUCKS IN A ROW had mechanical problems that caused delays was extremely inconvenient, and especially frustrating when you're paying your hard-earned money for a by-the-day base rate. Moving is already difficult enough, don't make it harder on yourself by booking with this company.

Poor customer service once, ok maybe just a fluke. But every single time my staff and I experience poor listening, condescending and disrespectful communications from customer service. Very simple task become huge undertakings and offers no certainty on when tasks are expected to be completed without consideration of our time being waisted… I’d never return here if I didn’t have to. We are paying your wages, at least pretend you can be professional and effective at your simple job. The bar down the street is hiring attitudes like yours.

This is what every business should strive to be, even within penske, as I pulled in and getting out of my truck, Bryan the shop foreman came up to me,"Mr. Scharf, we are aware of the issues with the truck ." I was like, WHOA, I've been to other penskes, and got the feeling they hated to see me!, Not here, they all assisted me, tested my truck, and actually discovered more serious problems, then had me get my replacement, the rental personnel, assisted w/the replacement rental, and even received the permit s I needed to operate under, I can't say enough about the professionalism I experienced, thank U, Mo.
