Stopped in today for the first time -- and so wish I'd done so sooner! Great little neighborhood bookstore with a very unique selection. My partner and I popped in just to browse and ended up buying about 8 books between us. If you like indie bookstores, you'll enjoy Paper Moon!

Enjoy the close quarters among all sorts of books...rummage at least once before they close! You never know what you may find. Many subjects available: Birds to Zen!

Some stores just pretend to be in business. Example: I went to the Paper Moon Bookstore, in Portland. I was the only customer in the place. Me: Hi. I'm looking for ephemera from the World War II era. Paper Moon Bookstore: Oh, yeah, we have lots of that. Me: Great, can I see it? Paper Moon: Sorry, no. We only sell that through the internet. Me: Is the material here in the store? Paper Moon: Sure. It's in this box. (Reaches out and touches the box.) Me: Could I look through it right here, in front of you? I'll be really careful. Paper Moon: No. Me: Could you look through it, and see if you have any XYZ in it? Paper Moon: No. You'd have to go online. Me: And if I find something online, could I come and pick it up? Paper Moon: No, you'd have to buy it through the mail. Me: But I'm here, with cash. Paper Moon: Shrug. Me: (I went to their website later. There was nothing there. )

This is a great little bookshop. However, Google indicates that the store is open 12pm - 5pm daily. Sadly, this does not appear to be the case. As far as I can tell, the store hasn't been open to the public over a year and a half. Hopefully they return soon.

For so long we have followed Kate and buying our books from her is always a wonderful experience. From early days at the book fairs, to at the beautiful shop and now online. My daughter Lily (7) looks forward to seeing and browsing through the fabulous books or to receiving a parcel of exciting new friends and adventures. The books never disappoint! A great source of special English language books here in The Netherlands and so nice to meet someone who shares our passion for beautiful stories. Highly recommend!

for me Paper Moon Books is the first place I go to when I want to look for English books for my girls. There is so much choice and to be honest I love discovering new authors and rediscovering family favourites that I grew up with. I first met them at a fair in Utrecht, then stalked them at their store (which I miss) and now avidly wait for updates online for new books. I cannot fault Kate for being totally customer service minded and being a true bookworm she invites excitement around the stories to be discovered and loved. I will confess that though the children's bookcase is overflowing with books I am already anticipating what we will buy next and what new stories we will add to our list of favourites.

As another reviewer commented. I placed an order. Status indicated the book was shipped - but no tracking number was provided. After the estimated arrival had passed, I tried to contact the seller. No reply. I know that the mail is slow these days, but without a response from the seller I am left wondering if they are even still in business.

Ordered a textbook from Paper Moon Books with expedited shipping. It was never received and no tracking was given. After over a week past the supposed delivery dates for expedited shipping I contacted Paper Moon Books twice. First to check the status and when I didn't receive a respond, I then emailed to initiate a refund. STILL NO RESPONSE. I ended up having to contact my bank, provide them the details and they got me my refund.

I grew up watching the Neverending Story and the first time I walked into Paper Moon I felt that little-kid magical feeling. That's how I describe this bookstore every time. I do my laundry nearby and while I'm waiting would wander the aisles and see if I could catch any treasures. Have ended up talking to Andrea (the owner) for hours over the years and she's a neat lady. Interesting and kind. At one point I was looking to learn to draw and she gave me some advice on books, then took my contact info and called me when something came in. This place is what I treasure about neighborhoods, local, small, independently owned, not trying to show off... just providing the goods and knowledgeable and passionate about what they're selling. I rarely go into a bookstore looking for something in particular, but go in looking to FIND something... this is a great place to find.

I loved this bookshop. I am a book dealer from UK and was in Portland on holiday but couldn't resist making some book calls. This was my favourite, mainly because the owner made me so welcome, and I came away with all I could fit in my hand baggage. Amusingly, (well not really ;-)) one of them, an old book on Druids was fished out by the customs at Portland Airport. I have no idea why, but they had quite a clumsy rummage through it, causing it to need some repair now I am home. Seattle customs however, were not bothered, having better things to do it seems !! I actually think the story will add to it's mystique and selling potential perhaps.

I found the woman behind the counter to be helpful and friendly. I found some books I wanted and thought it was a cool, funky place.

Huge, barely organized eclectic selection of used books. Awesome.
