One of the best cultural experiences in the Portland area. There is always something going on here such as the Finnish Christmas Service that was taking place today. The adjacent Scandinavian restaurant, Brodor is decent and obviously fits the theme. The troll trail with the troll house was the highlight of this visit. I had no idea this was here and it was a lot of fun for the family to check out.

Stopped by the see Thomas Dambo’s Ole-Bolle, the only “Way of the Bird King” troll in Oregon. Plenty of well maintained parking and the grounds were easily traversed. Looked like there were plenty of people eating inside Nordic Northwest, but I’d already stopped at Voodoo so didn’t stay.

Great place to have brunch or just snacks and tea/coffee and then go see Olebolle the giant troll!. The restaurant is quite popular though so plan ahead.

This place is so cool and places in a residential neighborhood. Food is amazing, great gift shop and tons of events and history. Come and see the wood troll, which is a part of an art series and really neat to see.

Free to visit, I arrived after the restaurant had closed but the grounds and troll trail are open until dusk. Ole Bolle was an absolute delight. Walking around gives you more insight into the whimsical nature of the troll with his hand going for the "Cookie jar" and Ripping the roof off a cabin to get something amazing inside. Fun to see an explore. Beautiful grounds.

Beautiful grounds, free to walk around during open hours, plenty of accessible parking. The Troll is sooo cool! A must see if you're in the area!

The home of the new 19 foot troll! So fun. Great parking and walkability. Just a cool place off Oleson Rd in SW Portland. Lots of people walked by and stopped to take pictures of the Troll.

It's a very interesting place to visit, and it's free. You can see a couple of trolls and walk through a Nordic display. They have a fun gift shop and a very enticing restaurant on site. There is free parking in a good sized lot.

What an incredible place that is home all the Nordic things. They have art installations, sponsored events, volunteer opportunities, and so much more. Currently they have an awesome troll installation that is part of a series in the PNW. Also take the time to eat at Broder Soder located within! Parking can be a challenge sometimes but there's usually something nearby.

We visited during the Midsummer Festival but it's worth a stop to check out on its own...and try Broder Soder while you're there.

What a cool little organization. I didn't know they existed in Portland, we were just heading out to broder. They are a Nordic cultural center with a gallery space and gift shop. The gift shop contains all sorts of traditional handicrafts and treats. Broder is located inside and it looks like you can do event rentals. They had a midsommar pole up so it seems like they might also have festival which would be neat to attend. The building itself is goegously designed and very modern. There are troll paths through the forest with traditional Viking buildings and ship. This was such a pleasant surprise.

An excellent showcase for Scandinavian culture. Exhibits, parties, family activities, and an annual Viking Beer Fest. Well worth visiting.

This has been one of my favorite restaurants lately. It's the perfect spot for a special breakfast treat. The Scandinavian style food is amazing, fresh and meticulously prepared. It's unique menu and contemporary setting give you the feeling that you just landed in Europe. Give yourself plenty of time as it is usually busy.
