An excellent specialized shop: for BMW, VW and Mercedes (particularly the older ones). I was treated with prompt and reasonable attention I needed to install a battery in my 20 year old ML320.

I can't recommend this shop based on my experience. I had my 2005 Mini towed in last Dec after its clutch died for an initial look over. The shop told me that in addition to the clutch issue, the car wouldn't start and likely needed a new starter or else some other electrical work, and that they'd need to do more extensive paid diagnostic work to investigate further if I went through with the repairs. That seemed funny to me--the car had been having some kind of draw on the battery, but up until the day the clutch died it started fine as long as the battery had a charge. But I figured "hey, this is a professional shop, this type of car is their specialty, and I paid $156 for the initial diagnostic work, I'm sure they took the time to look it over and that their assessment is right." I talked with Darby at the shop on the phone and appreciated his counsel about the vehicle. I decided against the repairs, which I couldn't afford to have done, and had the car towed home.Last month--August--I got around to selling the car. It'd been sitting in front of my place in the interim. I set my asking price based on what this shop told me--that the car wouldn't start, that would need electrical diagnostics + work to even get the engine running. The buyer I had lined up from Facebook Marketplace jumped the Mini off his aging truck battery and got the engine started in about ten minutes--and that was after the car sat idle for months. I emailed the shop letting them know they missed that my car's engine would've started fine if the battery had just been charged & that not knowing that negatively effected my sales negotiation and never heard anything back from them. Bummer!

Had to get an emissions test done and decided to come here. Super friendly and helpful, and they went above and beyond to explain next steps. They also helped me solve a small issue with my car, which was much appreciated.

I live in the neighborhood of Munich Motorworks and have always admired the beauty of this old building while marveling at its rotation of cool novel + vintage foreign cars. One day I drove into their garage w my '84 Toyota "Space Cruiser." The crew was so welcoming and Joseph talked to me for about 30 minutes, suggesting ways I could modify the 40 yr old van to make it more safe + reliable on the highway. Thrilled by the potential of these upgrades, I ponied up to make an appointment. It was then that I realized they specialize in German cars, not Toyotas, but was referred to a reliable Japanese auto shop. I mention this because it illustrates how generous + helpful Joseph was with his time + expertise. He LOVES cars! He's a cornucopia of knowledge, explains mechanical concepts in a ways that's comprehensible, and seems to very much love his work.A few years later after deciding I actually do want a vehicle from this century, (with the luxury of airbags), I reached out to Joseph, and again, he offered his valuable time + wealth of knowledge to help me figure out what kind of car I wanted, could comfortably afford AND he found it for me! Now I'm the owner of a dazzling BMW X3. I could not have imagined buying a car could be so easy! I highly recommend a visit to Munich Motorworks. It's an impeccably designed space, in a historic building with gorgeous natural light, that always has some sort of rare beauty hoisted up to admire, and managed by a talented + honest team.A+

These guys are the best in my opinion. I take my 2020 BMW M340i here every time for oil changes. They’ll even look over your car and check for other things that may need to be replaced. Definitely a go-to for any BMW owner. ?

Cannot recommend highly enough, they've been looking after my old E36 M3 like it was their own since 2015. They keep my car feeling brand new, especially after a recent engine rebuild. They've never steered me wrong (in fact, they rebuilt my steering, feels fantastic now) with reasonable upgrade suggestions every one of which has been worth it. Great crew of knowledgeable folks that I would trust with any era of German auto.Services: Electrical repair

When my 16 year old son bought a European car (without having it seen by a mechanic!) and it broke down the very same day, we had it taken to Munich. They saw the car right away and were very helpful and honest in explaining the situation, which was not good!We had completed a very poor purchase and I don't understand anything about cars and the owner spent his personal time with me, explaining various details about these cars. And again, was very honest and direct, which we appreciate.I don't have time for people beating around the bush and I would rather someone be a clear, direct communicator than the passive communication style that is so prevalent in Portland. Some people here cannot handle this type of clear communication but I think it is so valuable when people tell it like it is.

Lots of positive reviews here. Wish I had had the same experience. Wish they didn't break part of my car, send me off without acknowledging it, and accept no responsibility when I brought it back to them to be fixed. Especially after spending $3500 at their shop in the two weeks prior. The heartbreak of it all (for me) is that my car is a classic... 32 years old with only 100,000 miles on it, in very good shape. They broke the adorable --and original-- analog clock in the dashboard. (Poor sweetie lasted 32 years on the street, but not even a few days under the care of Munich Motorworks.) Insult to injury, wanting to charge for the fix, after not even telling me.No apology or even acknowledgement. In my opinion, this shows a lack of integrity and attention to detail. I will not be returning or recommending Munich Motorworks. I love my car too much. Consider yourself warned.

I am very impressed with Munich Motorworks. Save yourself the trouble of scouring various dealers; this team is the one-stop solution you've been looking for. I've spent a considerable amount of time in search of an upfront, no-nonsense auto repair shop, and stumbling upon them was great.I was able to schedule a service the very next day, and they finished the job faster than anticipated, all at a very reasonable cost. There was no pressure or sales tactics at any point; Scott and Darby simply provided an honest assessment of the situation.I have no doubt that I'll be a regular client from now on.

This review is long overdue. Joseph and the team at Munich Motorwerks did a terrific job taking care of my 1974 BMW '02 for years. When I chose to sell it, they were there every step of the way with advice to get the max value, fixing what needed fixing and doing video walk-arounds. I really appreciated their patience, help, and hard work.

I got more holistic care from a 10 minute free eyeball on my engine than Green Drop has given me in the year of service I’ve given them lol.I’m coming here next time.
