i have a Pfaff expression 2.0. It had been used nearly every day for the last 9 years. Two other shops worked on it and coukdnt find the problem so i assumed it was unfixable. My daughter bought me an icon from Montevilla and I was so impressed by the people there!!!! I took my older machine in expecting to be told it was in my head, and a lovely woman fiddled with it saying she could hear something off...she called Brendan in and they diagnosed it. It is my now fixed! So while i learn the intricacies of my new Pfaff icon, i can still grab my old Pfaff for a travel session with friends.I am really looking forward to more visits with them, as well as solely using them for future cleanings and (hopefully not) repairs. Such knowledgeable and just plain fun people!! Thank you!!

Do not bring older machines here. They will try to rip you off. I brought in an older machine and they said it was unfixable they wanted me to PAY THEM to scrap it. After a couple minutes of searching I Found a super knowledgeable lady working out of her house that was able to fix it and tune it for stitching leather. Maybe this place is good for buying brand new, otherwise they straight try to rob you for older machines.

I have been buying sewing machines from Montavilla for probably 20 years. Their service is great, and they stand behind both their service and products. I trust them completely with my machines. The staff is always friendly & knowledgeable.

I took my brother sewing machine into the store to have it check out. Holly graciously took the machine and tested it for me. She then explained that the Bob and holder had jumped and proceeded to fix the problem at no cost to me. I highly recommend using their services.

Brought in my starter Janome as I was having issues. They helped me figure out what I was doing wrong and gave me solutions. I ended up trading it in for a brand new Janome, and they helped me test my estate sale serger (for free). They are so so so helpful and I will absolutely be coming back for their classes ❤️❤️❤️

My purchase was online from across the country from Portland to the east coast. There are not enough affirmations to give this company. I asked a lot of questions before my purchase and they were quick to respond and so patient. Every interaction with them as been extremely positive and fast. Their packing and shipping were so well done, everything arrived as if I purchased it in the store and placed it in the back of my SUV. I can't imagine they ever receive anything less than 5 stars!Thank you for an amazing experience!

Very disappointed in my last visit to Montavilla Sewing in SE Portland. I had a machine that needed a part replaced. I took it out on a Tuesday and they said they could get it back by the end if the week. The next day I called and since I had not had the machine serviced since I bought it I wanted to add basic maintenance to the part replacement. Upon requesting that, the service department informed me that the part for the initial repair was not available as stated when I dropped the machine off AND that it would take FIVE weeks to repair it. They had not bothered to call me and let me know nor did they apologize for this massive delay. Additionally, some of the repair staff's phone etiquette (Jen) leaves much to be desired. She seemed impatient, curt and frankly unconcerned that I would be without a machine for five weeks, commenting that this was the "crazy" time of the year. Really, early November? Also when they readied the machine for me to haul out to my car they just placed the foot pedal on top of the throat plate unsecured so that it fell onto the ground as I was attempting to load it into the car.In the store the sales staff seems exceptionally focused on pushing you into a new or newer machine." Maybe this is why the wait for repairs is so long? And the salesperson that was showing me machines seemed unable to answer even the most basic questions about the operation of the various machines they were "demonstrating."I bought the machine that I have now at Montavilla Sewing for $400.00 and was really happy with that purchase a while ago. They offered me $50.00 as a trade in value. I think not. The incident regarding the repair (which has wasted both my time and gas) especially the attitude of the service liaison has soured my opinion of them. Oh, and by the way, I called another repair shop in Tigard. They were less expensive, polite and said they could get the machine back in ONE week.

I live two hours away and bought a very nice new Juki sewing machine from them almost a year ago. The sales person I emailed with before buying it, Aletha, was great. I had trouble with the machine from the beginning, though, with it skipping stitches. My husband finally brought it in recently for the free first year service to have it fixed. He said they were great when he dropped it off - very friendly. Before we picked it up, the tech called and said he had fixed a thread clearance problem and tested it on all different thicknesses of fabric, and it was fixed. When I got it home I used the exact needle he had used and found that it was much, much worse. Skipping stitches on all different fabrics and not picking up the bobbin thread after using the thread cutter. I tried different needles and thread. The bobbin and top tensions were also dialed up so high that stitches were puckered on regular quilting cotton. Then I looked at the stitch samples the tech had included, and the stitch samples on the thickest fabric had skipped stitches as well. I sent them a friendly email explaining what was going on, along with pictures of the skipped stitches and tension problems; reminded them that we live two hours away; and asking what to do next. My husband got a call from Jennifer Lutz, who was short and rude, made it sound like we had done something wrong, and said we would have to bring it back in. And the tech had a lot of excuses that didn't explain why he said it was fixed, yet sent it home with stitch samples that showed it wasn't.We will not be taking this machine back to them to be fixed and will never buy from them again.

Looking for specific items for my bernina and featherweight machines. Two different ladies assisted in 2 different needs. I feel they both went out of their way to help me.
