I lucked out when I bought my 2023 Mazda Cx5 from this fantastic dealership. From buying, driving, and servicing my car, I give Ron Tonkin a high 5 for their professionalism, customer service, and ease of communication. My car was serviced this week, and my service advisor, David Valdez, was outstanding. He is a valuable asset to this company. From the projected time frame for service, the direct communication, and the video of them servicing my car, I was kept in the loop as to what they were doing. I greatly appreciate no "surprises".

I get the best service from Ron Tonkin Mazda Bobby is a service representative there. I always ask for him. He is extremely efficient and thorough when caring for my new car. He makes sure the service technician is aware of my concerns and then follows up with me with advice from the technician. I will always take my Mazda here for its service. Bobby is worth the drive from north Vancouver.

Unprofessional. Does not do DMV paperwork in a timely manner. They waited nearly a month after the car purchase to file paperwork with the DMV. Now, with the additional time it takes the DMV to process the plate transfer the finance company is coming after me because they have not received the title and will raise my APR from 5.6% to 19% because it will be considered an unsecured loan. I'm having to purchase additional trip permits because the one they gave me expired. After speaking with a manager they took no ownership of not submitting the paperwork in a timely manner, didn't offer to give me another trip permit, and suggested I put my plates on even though the registration is complete - this is not legal. Not even a "yes we should have gotten the paperwork in the same month you bought the car from us..." Additionally, they said they would "get the car cleaned up" before I took it. After closer inspection I found glitter, hair, and food crumbs in the car. They have a unique perspective on what "clean" is. Basically I would not trust this dealership with anything. They can't manage details and take no responsibility for dropping the ball. Save yourself a headache and buy your car someplace else.

DO NOT GO HERE. People say dealerships rip you off this place is a whole nother ball game. THESE PEOPLE ARE LIARS. just got a call from my third mechanic after this place who's actually honest, They said they did not agree with any of the assessments that this dealership made and this dealership made $5,000 worth of assessments when my car was worth $10,000. They gave me a bill of fake assessments to push me to trade in my own car so they can have my used Mazda 3 They were trying to scare me to get my used Mazda 3 and scare me into a plan and lie about all of the things in the car. Zero stars

My wife and I had a very off putting experience here. We were looking into trading in our existing vehicle for a smaller, more fuel efficient car. We didn't need to switch our car but figured if we could get 25k for the trade in (or close to that) we would be interested in making a deal. One of the places we corresponded with was Ron Tonkin Mazda. Via email, they said they could only offer $20k. Ok, no problem thanks for getting back to us. We decided that was 5k too low than what we have been assessed previously in the week and we would hold tight. I think we all know 5k is quite a lot when dealing with car sales.A couple days later we got a call from a sales associate who said she had "great news". She said she could do $25k for the trade in and that their dealership was known to give "top dollar" for vehicles. We explained we really didn't want to drive down to the dealership and waste our day if they weren't serious about that number or couldn't get close. She insisted they could, and wanted us to come to the dealership. We made an appt for the next night. We get to the dealership during our scheduled appt time and she greets us and tells us another customer came in so she can't help us. However, she is going to set us up with another great associate (who had 3 months on the job and was pretty inept). They tried all the typical, tired sales tactics. We kept telling them we didn't want to get too far down the road before knowing what they would give us for the trade in. I'll spare you the details but we sat at the dealership making small talk for 1hr and 15mins. Finally they came back with the offer which was $20k. $5k below what they told us. It was insulting and wasted our day. What annoyed us most is the only reason we went in to try to make a deal was because they called us with an offer and then completely deceived us. They didn't even try to meet us in the middle. We won't go back and I'd tell you all to be careful dealing with them. They're the typical used car salesman type trying to keep you there as long as possible and take you for everything you're worth.

Patrick and Andree were great to work with when my wife and I were purchasing a 2013 Prius V 5. They were patient and allowed us space and time to have a conversation with each other and were responsive and never over bearing when we were negotiating. We felt fairly treated and respected! As a woman, I usually go into situations like this expecting to be treated differently, but we did not feel this at all from Andree and Patrick. Thanks you two. We are excited for our new car!

Fernando and Patrick did an excellent job finding all my needs and I ended up with the car of my dream. I highly recommend this place and to work directly with this dynamic duo as they assert excellent and professional service. I will definitely be sending referrals here. Thank you Fernando and Patrick!

My purchasing experience of a brand new 2023 vehicle with Tonkin Mazda of Portland has been taunting. It started with me calling and talking with Sales Professional, Troy Walker. Troy was very persistent in communication as he'd call and text me every chance of the day he can get (for reference this was the last week of March when this all happened). On the last day of March, Troy kept asking me if I could come to the dealership to make the deal happen and I would be in and out within an hour with my new car. Spoiler alert: this did not happen. What ended up happening was a long discussion that went from 4 PM to 8:30 PM where Troy drove back to my place of residence to grab a physical check from me. During those hours of discussion, there was a lot of up selling of add-ons and additional services to be added to my vehicle purchase when I had already discussed with Troy in the weeks beforehand what I wanted with no frills. Each time I tried to shut Troy down on an add-on I didn't want, Troy would ask me why I didn't see value in the items they offered. And in each argument, I'd tell Troy I'm loyal to Mazda's stance on their long-lasting product and I don't need to drop an additional grand on an extended warranty for a power train when I have full confidence in the brand more than Honda, and Toyota. Anyways, I also met Jack Petrino, the Sales Manager that Troy would go back and forth with very often whenever we needed new printouts (this happens a lot).In the end, I managed to walk out with a new vehicle. If you ever do try to purchase a new vehicle at this location, be prepared to spend a lot of time talking and have lots of quotes from local shops for any add-ons you need. I found Royal Moore Mazda in Hillsboro to be a lot easier to speak with, so if the car of your choice happens to be there, I'd do business with them instead. Also, if you get the XPEL PPF (paint protection film) as I did with Mazda, please note that they do not do the service in-house and rather they outsource it to an unknown shop (I haven't been told who). You may be better off contacting various shops in the Portland area to get a much better deal on PPF than Mazda sells it for. And if you get Troy, don't let him downplay your quotes from local shops for a PPF because he will ask whether labor is priced in, yes they all are.

BEWARE FEMALE SHOPPERS: I have never been spoken to in the way that the sales Manager Patrick Ramage spoke to me in the lobby of Mazda. I'm still in shock. As a woman car shopping alone, he created such a hostile and intimidating space. And did not care at all. Zero apology or remorse. In fact his exact words were, "good, leave!" He spoke to me like a an entitled frat guy at a bar, versus a Sales Manager in a *professional* setting.I understand he was trying to play the "tough, take-it-or-leave-it" sales guy. But this was not that. This was disrespectful and degrading. There is nothing "tough" about speaking to any woman this way.I had additional questions about the vehicle I had agreed to purchasing and he grew increasingly frustrated about misinformation he had given me.He first agreed to give me the vehicle for one amount, then apologized because "he though it was a different vehicle" so then rescinded the verbal offer he gave me and that we had agreed upon 10 minutes prior. He then told me the interest rate I would be receiving, but after doing the math on some things, something didn't make sense. When I asked about this an hour later (because I had been there 5+ hours at this point), he let me know he made a mistake and it was actually higher, but brushed it off as no big deal. This is a big deal. This makes a big difference, which I explained to him.To which he aggressively spoke to me and said "I don't want to do this deal anyways!" I was in shock. I said first of all, watch how you're speaking to me - he said "whatever, we're losing money on this deal anyways." Again, this is a sales manager, I couldn't believe I was being spoken to this way. I never raised my voice, I never called him out of name.I literally just began to cry. I was so shocked and hurt. I said I was leaving and his reply while walking away was, "good, leave!"Again, I did NOTHING to this man but be a prospective customer and inquire and ask questions about a contract I'm about to sign for $30k.I spent the next 20 minutes in the Mazda lobby crying and waiting for a Lyft. I cannot believe this was allowed to happen on their property by a MANAGER.He had zero regard for me, my time, and the affects of his words/actions. When things imploded with Patrick I shared with him my frustration because I had spent all day there already (5+ hours), his response was, "ya! Well so have I!" I reminded him that he's *PAID* to be there. Again, I couldn't believe the responses he was giving me as a Sales Manager. Zero regard that I left work early, took a Lyft 30 minutes to get there, hadn't eaten lunch or dinner, that I sat there for hours on hours...I hope no one else ever has an experience like this. There is ZERO excuse for this kind of behavior.

Cannot recommend Ron Tonkin Mazda enough. With a shortage of quality cars on the market right now many dealerships will not even return calls in a timely manner...this was not the case with Ron Tonkin. We were looking for a quality late model used car and it became apparent that the Ron Tonkin network not only had a good selection but that they make sure that all of their used vehicles are of good quality AND their pricing is very fair.Nick Freese was the sales associate we dealt with and he was as helpful as one could ask for; He was quick to return any messages we sent and was up front about every vehicle and pricing option.Dealing with Nick Freese definitely made the buying experience a positive one.Ron Tonkin Mazda will definitely be our first choice the next time we are in the market for a car, new or used.

They are great people. Helpful, friendly. Got the parts I wanted. All were so eager to please. I was even to use my 15% off coupon that I received in the mail from Mazda!
