Casual bowler with big hands and feet. Visited the shop after calling toe verify size 15 shoes in stock. It was a Saturday afternoon and the place was busy. Found my shoes, found some for my wife and asked about getting a ball. He says, my 1:00 is running late, we can select and drill a ball for you right now. Mind you, it was busy...no less than a dozen people came through there during my visit. He helped everyone, had a sense of humor, yet professional and courteous. I work in retail, I know how difficult that can be, yet he smiled, laughed and took care of everyone. I'd hire a Larry any day of the week, actually one of the most positive human to human customer service interactions I've had in years. Happy to be a customer and headed back next week to get a ball drilled for my wife.

Went to the shop 4 times to buy a ball and get it drilled. Made multiple appointments that were not honored as the ball had not shown up. Got no phone call and drove 33 min there each time. Showed up today for my appointment and he double book the time spot and wanted to keep my current ball so I could not bowl league. Beware. Not respectful of peoples time and told dirty jokes about women. I left without a purchase and will never go back.

Got three balls drilled there. Asked about my current balls that I am using. Asked what I had in mind for the news ones as far as how I want to play them. Looked up a brand new ball that was just released to refresh on the specs. Drilled them promptly, then gave me 45 mins on the lanes to test them. Really thorough and personable experience.

Larry is kind, knowledgeable and fun. Getting to know him over the last few months and doing business with him has been rewarding. I'm grateful for all he does and how he does it. He is extremely busy, so be patient. Know that your patience will be rewarded with a great experience.

Recently moved from California and happy to have found Kingpins and Larry's Pro Shop.Just when I thought I can trust no one else to drill my bowling balls to my preference, Larry's Pro Shop proved me wrong. Professional, friendly/funny, quick, well stocked, fairly priced, especially if you purchase and drill a ball from the store.I'll be a lifelong customer for as long as I'm living in Oregon.

"Wow" is all I can say about Larry! I'm only a casual bowler, not in a league, but go bowling 5-6 times a year with friends. I would be lucky if I could find ONE ball in the entire bowling alley that fit my hand well enough to not leave blisters or cramps for days after. So I decided to get my own custom ball and found that Larry's Pro Shop is the #1 rated bowling shop in the entire Portland area for a reason - he's amazing! I made an appointment for a custom measurement and fitting (he's a busy guy, so I'd recommend an appointment!) and he took painstakingly careful measurements of my hand, fingers, joints, and even how I held the ball. Larry is a rare breed of Master Craftsmen! After drilling my new ball and playing several games, I was kicking myself for not getting a custom ball years before. The fit and finish of a custom drilled bowling ball from Larry instantly makes the game many times more enjoyable, even if you're an amateur like me and just bowl for fun. A custom ball is cheaper than you'd think, and be sure to pick up a pair of your own bowling shoes while you're there. No more wearing smelly gross bowling alley shoes that 1000 other people have worn! ?
