I don’t even think of another bank anymore! 3 mortgages, random requests for help, etc. over 20+ years, always top notch. thank you!

I recently moved from Southern California and was concerned that I wouldn't find a HomeStreet office near me. To my relief I found a branch in the NW. My first visit was very positive. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. I had considered changing banks for extra convenience but the service I received at HomeStreet convinced me to stay.

I pick up litter on NW 23rd Avenue in Portland several times a week, and because I have the time to do so, I am happy to be a small part of beautifying our neighborhood. I have noticed, however, that Home Street Bank’s lot and even its front entrance is never clean, is virtually always unsightly. Surely, the manager of this bank can spend a few minutes a day picking up trash and sweep the front entrance!

Do not use this bank. They get you to come in, as most banks do, with an incentive offer. In my case, it was 250$ if I signed up for their premium checking. This account has a ton of stipulations you have to keep straight. The biggest one, you have to keep a 2,500$ DAILY balance. Most banks are an AVERAGE MONTHLY balance. A couple different words and it changes the parameters by a ton and most people won't notice because it's not common practice. Back to the bonus offer. They offered 250$ if you signed up for their premium account and did 5,000$ in direct deposits within 90 days. 10 days after I signed up, they changed the bonus. Now, the current offer is 300$ to do 3,000$ in direct deposits for the same exact time frame on the same exact type of account. I asked them to change me to that since I had only signed up mere days outside that window. They said they "understood my frustration" but couldn't do that. Who could do it, then? It's their bank with their rules. All they had to do was add an extra 50$ into my account and send me a separate 1099 and I would have been happy. Also, they are the ONLY bank to require that you keep your account open at least 365 days to keep your bonus. It says, in their massive amount of fine print, "HomeStreet Bank reserves the right to deduct the bonus from the account at closing, if the account is closed by the customer or bank within 365 calendar days after account opening." Most banks require you keep it open for 6 months or they WILL take it back. HomeStreet doesn't say they will take it back after 6 months, but that they can if they feel like it. It's not like I was planning to close it in exactly 6 months but I may have downgraded the type of account I had so I didn't have to tie up so much money (and get charged 10$ anyway). There are a ton of other banks that offer checking account bonuses (Chase, US Bank, B of A, Wells Fargo, Columbia Bank, Bank of the West, Key Bank, multiple credit unions, etc) and they have all different hoops to jump through but none as bad as HomeStreet. I used to think Bank of the West had the worst offer but that torch has been passed. While having to tie up 2,500$ a day, getting .50 a month in this interest baring account and potentially losing 10$ a month in fees sounds awesome, stay far away from this bank. They choose their words very carefully to disguise their accounts and make them seem like all the rest, but they are not. They are much, much worse.

This bank in particular is one of my favorites. I was stranded without my bags and had no cards or anything and they totally guided me in the right direction and made me way less stressed out about the whole situation. They are my favorite now

I hate to say this but the teller there was terrible. I went there on January 18 at 5:40 PM to deposit a check into my bosses account. the teller took four checks to a guy Who I think is a manager or whatever and they start to look into the checks and at one point the guy asked me if it was a regular paycheck. I told him that is a paycheck and he continues to look into it, then I told him this is not my account and I am depositing it to someone else. as soon as they hear that they go "Oh" and deposited the check. I think they were thinking that I can not make these money just by looking at me. I have been to a lot of banks this is my worst place ever.

My husband and I are financing an investment home through Homestreet and we are extremely happy with the care we have received. Nick has been very attentive and has answered even the dumbest questions I have sent his way. We haven't closed on the loan yet but I will update this if my experience changes. Some Highlights about this bank: -They are very responsive and work quickly -They don't require a checking/ savings account -The servicing for your mortgage remains with them -A human has answered every time I have called -Have I mentioned their communication is amazing!:) -They have a couple of mortgage options ( I can't remember what they are but I remember thinking that may help me later on if we buy several more properties)
